One of the most awaited films of the year, *Kalki 2898 AD*, is a dystopian sci-fi film starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. Directed by Nag Ashwin and mounted on a big budget, the film has generated massive buzz ahead of its release due to its intriguing storyline, larger-than-life sets, and stellar cast, sparking excitement among fans. *Kalki 2898 AD* is another offering from Prabhas, who enjoys unparalleled stardom on a pan-India level, but his recent movies have been disasters. All eyes are now on whether *Kalki 2898 AD* will be Prabhas’ breakthrough or continue his streak of flops.

High-budget movies and Prabhas go hand in hand. In the past, some of the big-budget pan-India films headlined by Prabhas have not been fruitful. Despite the tremendous success of *Baahubali*, Prabhas has struggled to meet the bar set by his 2015 film. *Saaho*, *Radhe Shyam*, *Adipurush*, and *Salaar* were all made on a big scale, but their box office performances did not justify the investments.

Prabhas, despite being a bankable star, failed to recreate the magic with these films, which later turned out to be flops for various reasons. *Baahubali 2* was the last hit movie delivered by Prabhas. Following that, *Saaho* had high expectations but underperformed at the box office. *Radhe Shyam*, which premiered on Netflix, failed to impress the audience even on OTT. *Adipurush* was criticized for several aspects, yet it managed to gain numbers at the box office but didn’t achieve hit status. *Salaar*, another expensive pan-India film, also added to the actor’s list of flops.

Given Prabhas’ recent career graph, it seems challenging for *Kalki 2898 AD* to attract audiences to theaters. Although the actor’s stardom may result in impressive initial business, the film could struggle after the weekend. *Kalki 2898 AD*, directed by Nag Ashwin, is set to hit the big screens on June 28, 2024.
