Cara Delevingne Says She Dated Amber Heard After Johnny Depp Divorce

Cara Delevingne reveals she and Amber Heard became romantically involved after Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp and reflects on Harvey Weinstein’s comments about her sexuality.

Cara Delevingne has spoken candidly about her past relationship with Amber Heard, confirming for the first time that the two became romantically involved after Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp. During an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the British model and actress addressed years of speculation surrounding her friendship with Heard and the rumors that surfaced during Heard and Depp’s highly publicized split. When asked whether Depp had been jealous of her relationship with Heard, Delevingne explained that nothing romantic happened while Heard was still married.

“We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled,” she said, adding that Heard “was also entangled with other people” during that period, an apparent reference to her widely reported relationship with Elon Musk.

Delevingne clarified that any romantic involvement began only after Heard and Depp had separated, dismissing long-standing speculation that the relationship overlapped with their marriage.

The actress also reflected on how difficult it was to navigate Hollywood while coming to terms with her sexuality. She recalled a disturbing conversation with disgraced former film producer Harvey Weinstein, who allegedly warned her that openly dating women would damage her career.

According to Delevingne, Weinstein asked whether she was gay before telling her she should never be in a relationship with a woman if she wanted to succeed in the entertainment industry. She admitted she believed his comments at the time and carried that fear with her for years.

Looking back, Delevingne said she now realizes she recognized her sexuality at a very young age but struggled to fully understand it growing up. Today, she says she is proud to be open about who she is and believes greater LGBTQ+ representation has made it easier for younger people to embrace their identities.

The conversation also touched on her personal life beyond relationships. Delevingne discussed her views on marriage following a previous engagement and reflected on how much she has grown since first entering the entertainment industry as one of the world’s biggest supermodels before transitioning into acting.

Meanwhile, Heard has largely remained out of the spotlight since her lengthy legal battle with Depp concluded in 2022. The actress has kept a low public profile and has not appeared in a major film since the widely publicized defamation trial.

Delevingne’s interview offers one of her most personal conversations to date, shedding new light on her relationship with Heard while also revealing the challenges she faced navigating fame, identity and acceptance in Hollywood.
