The makers of Spider Man: Brand New Day have released a new trailer that gives fans a closer look at Peter Parker’s life after the events of Spider Man: No Way Home. Running for 2 minutes 37 seconds, the trailer focuses on Peter’s emotional struggles while also teasing a major action sequence involving the Hulk.
The trailer begins with Peter Parker living alone in New York. After the events of the previous film, his girlfriend MJ, played by Zendaya, and his best friend Ned, played by Jacob Batalon, no longer remember who he is. Peter continues to protect people as Spider Man, but he now carries the responsibility of his secret identity without the support of the two people closest to him.
Several moments from the first 3 Spider Man films appear throughout the trailer. These flashbacks remind viewers of Peter’s friendship with Ned and his relationship with MJ. They also show how much his life has changed. One emotional moment hints that Peter wants to tell MJ the truth about who he really is, but he decides not to because he believes keeping the secret is the best way to protect her.
As the story moves forward, Peter’s personal struggles are interrupted by a much bigger threat. The trailer introduces a dramatic moment involving Hulk. During one scene, Peter asks, “Dr Banner?” Hulk responds, “No Banner, only Hulk!”
The confrontation quickly turns into a fierce battle. Hulk attacks Spider Man and forcefully slams him into the ground, suggesting that the fight between the two superheroes could become one of the biggest action sequences in the film.
Apart from the action, the trailer also hints at themes of trust, betrayal and the responsibility Peter carries as he tries to protect the universe while dealing with his own personal challenges.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colon Zayas, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Mando. Mando returns as Scorpion, while Bernthal makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as the Punisher.
Based on the Marvel Comics created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the film is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor, with Louis D’Esposito and David Cain serving as executive producers.
Spider Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to release in cinemas on July 30.
