The idea that this film simply misses the mark is actually putting it mildly.Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 turns out to be a disappointing watch that struggles to justify its own existence. It feels like a film that wants to say many things but ends up saying nothing clearly or effectively. By the time it ends, you are left wondering why you spent so much time on it.The story follows Sunny, (Avinash Tiwary), a small town boy from Rishikesh who dreams of becoming a wrestler. However, early in the film, his reputation is damaged when he is wrongly labelled as a pervert. The narrative then jumps ahead by two years, where his only goal in life is to get married. His repeated failures to find a match are shown as humour, but the joke quickly becomes repetitive and tiring.

Ginny (Medha Shankr) is a modern and independent woman. Despite this, she too is under pressure to get married. This could have been an interesting point, especially in today’s time, but the film only touches on it briefly without exploring it properly. It shows how families rush into arranged marriages and even lie to secure matches, but these ideas are not developed in a meaningful way.

The film tries to include themes like gender equality, male ego, and relationship expectations. There are also moments that hint at deeper issues like how men view women or how lack of interaction shapes behaviour. However, all these points are treated lightly and feel incomplete. Instead of building a strong narrative, the film jumps from one idea to another without proper connection.

The central love story also fails to create any impact. The characters meet, get married, and are expected to fall in love, but the film does not show how or why that happens. This makes it difficult for the audience to care about their relationship.

Avinash Tiwary delivers a sincere act and stands out despite the weak script. Medha Shankr shows potential but appears inconsistent in her portrayal. Experienced actors like Sudhir Pandey and Lillete Dubey bring some stability, but they are limited by poor writing.

Overall, the film feels confused and outdated. It relies on clichés and outdated ideas while pretending to be modern. It attempts humour but rarely succeeds. With weak storytelling and lack of emotional depth, this is a film that does not leave any lasting impression.

Originally set for a December 22, 2027 release, the film has now been pushed to February 4, 2028. The shift quietly avoids a massive theatrical showdown that would have placed it just one week after three major titles: Avengers: Secret Wars, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and The Housemaid’s Secret.

On paper, that December slot looked brutal. Competing against a Marvel event film alone is risky, but adding a new Lord of the Rings entry and a proven commercial thriller sequel would have turned it into a near impossible fight for attention.

The new February release date also comes with a strategic advantage. It lands just before the Super Bowl, a period where studios often counter-program with films that target audiences not focused on the game. For a character driven mystery led by Curtis, that could actually work better than being buried under blockbuster noise.

This film marks the first major theatrical adaptation of the beloved series originally led by Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher. That legacy alone carries weight, but it also creates pressure. Audiences are not just judging a new movie, they are comparing it to a long running, deeply loved television classic.

From a practical standpoint, the delay feels less like a setback and more like a smart survival move. Studios rarely admit it outright, but release dates are often about avoiding embarrassment as much as maximizing profit. No mid budget or nostalgia driven film wants to open in the shadow of billion dollar franchises.

In my opinion, this is exactly the kind of decision more studios should be making. Not every film needs to compete head on with massive IP driven spectacles. Giving a project space to breathe, especially one that relies on story, tone, and audience connection rather than visual scale, is often the difference between it being overlooked and it actually finding its audience.

If anything, this move suggests confidence. Instead of gambling on a crowded holiday weekend, the studio is betting that Murder, She Wrote can stand on its own, as long as it is not drowned out by Gollum and the Avengers at the same time.

The proposed Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery merger is moving closer to becoming reality, but Hollywood’s resistance is growing louder. A petition opposing the deal has now crossed more than 4,000 signatures, with Robert De Niro, Sofia Coppola, Holly Hunter and several other major industry names joining the pushback. The merger, valued at about $110 billion to $111 billion in recent reports, received approval from Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders on April 23, 2026. 

However, the deal is not final yet. It still requires regulatory clearance in the United States and Europe, and it could face further legal challenges from state officials concerned about antitrust issues. Warner Bros. Discovery also said the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to approvals.  

The opposition letter argues that combining Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery would shrink an already concentrated entertainment industry even further. Critics say the deal could lead to fewer jobs, fewer projects, higher consumer costs and reduced opportunities for writers, actors, directors and production workers. The concern is especially strong because the merger would leave Hollywood with even fewer major studio players.  

The signatories include a long list of actors, filmmakers and creators, including Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Edward Norton, Joaquin Phoenix, Ben Stiller, Kristen Stewart, Glenn Close, Jane Fonda, Mark Ruffalo, Lin-Manuel Miranda and many more. Organizations connected to the campaign include the Writers Guild of America, Film Future Coalition, American Economic Liberties Project and other media and creative advocacy groups.

In my opinion, the concern is valid. Media mergers are often sold as strategic business moves, but the impact usually falls on workers and audiences. When fewer companies control more studios, streaming platforms, networks and libraries, the result is rarely more creative freedom. It usually means fewer greenlights, safer projects and more pressure to make content that fits a corporate formula.

The shareholder vote proves the business side is interested in the merger, but the petition shows that the creative side of Hollywood is deeply uneasy. That divide matters. Studios do not create value without artists, crews, writers, editors and performers. If thousands of people who make the industry work are warning that this deal could damage the ecosystem, regulators should take that seriously. For now, the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger is not a done deal. The next fight will happen with regulators, and Hollywood clearly intends to keep the pressure on.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has started shooting for his upcoming film with Nayanthara. This project is directed by Vamshi Paidipally and marks the first time Salman and Nayanthara will be seen together on screen. The film is being produced by Dil Raju and is planned for a release during Eid 2027.

On April 24, Salman Khan shared a video on Instagram from the sets of the film, which is currently referred to as SVC63. The video shows the team gathering in Mumbai for the mahurat ceremony, which marks the beginning of the shoot. Both actors were seen arriving in simple outfits, with Nayanthara wearing a black jumpsuit and Salman Khan dressed in a black T shirt and jeans.

The video captures the actors greeting members of the crew and preparing for the ceremonial first shot. At the end of the clip, a message appears confirming the release timeline as Eid 2027. Sharing the video, Salman Khan wrote, “Thoda durr ki sochna chahiye, That’s why announced Eid….. Return of the Jungle is set to release on May 29 across India, and its first teaser already hints at something more grounded than the usual animated fare. Backed by Vaibhav Studios, the film leans into a simple but effective premise. A group of school kids find themselves pulled into jungle stories told by their grandfather, stories inspired by Panchatantra. 

Instead of going big on spectacle alone, it seems more focused on emotional connection and everyday relatability.

Director Vaibhav Kumaresh has described the film as a mix of nostalgia and modern life, and that balance is where it could either win or lose audiences. Indian animation has often struggled because it tries to mimic global styles without matching their scale or polish. This film appears to be taking the opposite route, embracing its identity instead of hiding it.

The teaser shows kids playing cricket, animals woven into storytelling, and a tone that feels closer to childhood memory than fantasy overload. That choice might actually work in its favor. Not every animated film needs to feel like a high budget spectacle. Sometimes, a smaller and more personal story lands harder.

Still, there is a real question here. Will audiences give it a chance? Indian viewers have historically leaned toward Hollywood animation for theatrical experiences, and breaking that habit is not easy.

If Return of the Jungle manages to connect, it could quietly shift expectations for what Indian animation can be. If it does not, it risks becoming another well intentioned project that gets lost in the noise. Either way, it is the kind of attempt the industry needs more of, even if the outcome is uncertain.
