More than three decades after the release of Khalnayak, Sanjay Dutt has officially announced its sequel titled Khalnayak Returns. The announcement was made on April 24, and it quickly caught the attention of fans. The first look featured the familiar tune of the famous song Khal Nayak Hoon Main, which added to the excitement. Sharing the news, Dutt wrote, “Kuch kahaani khatam nahi hoti… woh dobara shuru hoti hai. Khalnayak Returns.” Details about the cast and release date have not yet been revealed, but the announcement alone has brought back strong memories of the original film.

The first Khalnayak was directed by Subhash Ghai and released in 1993. It featured Sanjay Dutt in the role of Ballu, along with Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. The film stood out because it did not show a simple hero versus villain story. Instead, it focused on a complex character who had both negative and emotional sides.

The story followed Ballu, a criminal who escapes from police custody. Inspector Ram, played by Jackie Shroff, tries to catch him. To help in the mission, Ram’s fiancée Ganga, played by Madhuri Dixit, goes undercover to get close to Ballu. The story develops into more than just a chase, showing emotions like trust, betrayal, and the reasons behind a person becoming a criminal.

Khalnayak was one of the highest earning films of 1993 and received several award nominations. It became popular not just for its story but also for its music. Songs like Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai became widely discussed, while Khal Nayak Hoon Main turned into a lasting hit. The music album was also among the top selling at that time.

The film was released during a difficult period in Sanjay Dutt’s personal life, which added more attention to it. Despite this, the film performed very well and remained strong at the box office.

Even today, Khalnayak is remembered as an important film in Hindi cinema. It is often seen as an example of how mainstream films can present characters with depth instead of showing them as completely good or bad.

Kajol recently spoke openly about the challenges she faced while raising her daughter Nysa Devgan. She shared that there was a time when their relationship went through a difficult phase, especially during Nysa’s early teenage years.

Kajol, who has been married to Ajay Devgn since 1999, is a mother to two children, Nysa and Yug. In a recent conversation on Lilly Singh’s podcast, she talked about how parenting has changed over the years and how raising a Gen Z child required her to rethink her approach.

She explained that things became challenging when Nysa was around 12 years old. “Hormones hit, and she was 12. We were all over the place. We were fighting, and we were both irrational and illogical at times,” she said. According to Kajol, this phase led to frequent arguments and misunderstandings between them.

Realising that the situation was not improving, Kajol decided to change the way she handled things. She said that as a parent, she felt it was important to stay calm and take a more thoughtful approach. “Being the adult, I decided I should be more rational. I chose to talk to her instead of fighting as much, to keep communicating till she starts listening,” she explained.

She also shared that this difficult period lasted for nearly three years. During that time, both of them found it hard to connect with each other. “We both struggled for nearly three years. It was like, I don’t want to listen to you, I don’t want to talk to you,” she said.

Over time, things improved as they started having more open conversations. Kajol realised that listening to her daughter was more important than constantly giving advice. She said, “It became about me sitting down and listening to her. Giving her the space to talk and be heard made the biggest difference. That was my biggest learning.”

Today, at 23, Nysa shares a much better relationship with her mother. Kajol has also mentioned earlier that Nysa is not interested in joining the film industry.

On the work front, Kajol was last seen in Maa and Sarzameen. She also appeared in the talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle with Twinkle Khanna and in Season 2 of The Trial Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha. She will next be seen in Maharagni Queen of Queens, directed by Charan Tej Uppalapati.
