Laxman Utekar’s period action movie Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, arrived in theaters on February 14, 2025, and has emerged one of the highest-grossing blockbusters of recent Bollywood film history. Set against the events of the real-life Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the movie casts Vicky Kaushal in the role of the mighty leader. Rashmika Mandanna portrays his wife, Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale, and Akshaye Khanna portrays the evil Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Strong Box Office Performance
Since its release, Chhaava has taken over the box office, leaving everyone in awe with huge box office collections. On Day 5, the movie is expected to rake in between Rs 19 crore and Rs 21 crore, taking its total collections to near Rs 150 crore. Therefore, it has already become the first superhit Bollywood film of 2025, becoming a part of the hit films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which released in November 2024.
Chhaava’s impressive advance bookings signal that it will perform well in the days to come. Having gotten off to a great start, Chhaava can expect to collect more than Rs 175 crore in its opening week. Over a longer period, the film can achieve a lifetime business of more than Rs 350 crore, one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films in recent years.
