Director Maruthi’s much-anticipated horror-comedy, The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, will not be released as scheduled on April 10. Despite the film’s initial promotional push, a source close to the production has confirmed to Hindustan Times that the release date has been pushed back. The film’s team and the production house, People Media Factory, have remained silent on the matter, but insiders have provided some clarity on the delay.
Reasons for the Delay
Although there were rumors that Prabhas’ recent ankle injury or his hectic schedule with other films, including his project with Hanu Raghavapudi, could be the reason for the delay, sources confirm that it is not so. Instead, the reason for the delay is the massive VFX work the film demands. Director Maruthi is said to be taking extra care to provide a smooth visual experience to the audience, which demands more time during post-production.
A source informed, “Maruthi wants the VFX to be picture perfect so that the audience will have a comfortable and engaging experience. The new date of release will be announced after considerable work has been done on post-production.”
Continuing Delays and Production Issues
The Raja Saab has also been put through several delays since it commenced production in 2022, with the pandemic also slowing the process further. As of December last year, around 80% of shooting was done and the crew worked diligently to complete the rest of the work. Yet, despite rumors of Christmas or New Year teaser release getting busted, the fans have gone on to enthusiastically wait for announcements.
The movie also features Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar besides Prabhas, with music being done by Thaman S. The fans will have to wait for more information about the new release date.
