Welcome To The Jungle, starring Akshay Kumar, collected an estimated Rs. 0.45 crore on its third Wednesday at the Indian box office. The film recorded only a small drop compared to its third Monday collection. With this, the movie has earned Rs. 6 crore in the first 6 days of its third week, taking its total India nett collection to Rs. 127.30 crore.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the comedy is now in the final phase of its theatrical run. Based on its current performance, the film is expected to end its third week with around Rs. 6.40 crore to Rs. 6.50 crore. This would be around 78 per cent lower than its second week collection. If the current trend continues, the film is expected to finish its overall run with a lifetime India nett collection of around Rs. 130 crore to Rs. 135 crore.
While the film may not achieve a clear hit status based on its box office performance, it is still expected to recover its investment and be considered a successful release. According to trade estimates, the film benefited from being made at a controlled production cost. This helped improve its financial performance despite collections that are lower than what some expected from a film carrying the Welcome franchise name.
The Welcome series has delivered strong box office performances in the past. The original Welcome was one of the highest grossing Hindi films of its time. The second film also opened well and performed strongly at the box office despite not featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Compared to those earlier films, Welcome To The Jungle has recorded more modest collections.
