Evil Dead Burn continued its run at the Indian box office by collecting an estimated Rs. 2.10 crore gross on its 2nd Sunday (Day 10). The film recorded only a small drop compared to Saturday, when it earned Rs. 2.25 crore gross. Although Sunday collections remained stable, the film did not see the usual increase in business that is often expected on the final day of the weekend.
The horror film collected Rs. 5.60 crore gross during its 2nd weekend, taking its total box office collection in India to Rs. 30.60 crore gross. The steady performance has helped the movie maintain its run despite facing fresh competition at the box office.
Based on current trends, Evil Dead Burn is expected to collect around Rs. 8 crore to Rs. 9 crore gross during its 2nd week. If it reaches that level, its total collection will move close to the Rs. 35 crore mark. Trade estimates also suggest that the film could surpass the lifetime collection of the previous movie in the Evil Dead franchise during its 3rd week, provided it continues to attract audiences.
Looking ahead, the film is currently expected to finish its theatrical run in India with less than Rs. 50 crore gross. While this would still be a respectable result, a much stronger performance in the coming weeks would be needed for the movie to cross that mark. Its collections have been affected by the release of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which is currently attracting a large share of moviegoers and performing strongly at the Indian box office.
This year has been positive for Hollywood films in India, with several releases performing better than expected. Movies such as Project Hail Mary, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, Obsession, The Devil Weds Prada 2 and Michael have all attracted audiences and delivered encouraging box office results. Evil Dead Burn has also performed well and is currently on track to achieve a successful theatrical run if it maintains steady collections over the coming days.
The day wise box office collections of Evil Dead Burn in India are as follows:
Week 1 (including previews): Rs. 25.00 crore gross
Day 8: Rs. 1.25 crore gross
Day 9: Rs. 2.25 crore gross
Day 10: Rs. 2.10 crore gross (estimated)
Total: Rs. 30.60 crore gross
With its 2nd week still in progress, Evil Dead Burn remains on course to cross another milestone at the Indian box office. The coming days will determine whether the film can continue its steady run despite strong competition from The Odyssey.
