8 times when Salman Khan was ahead of Shah Rukh Khan

Though the two reigning superstars of Bollywood Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are lions of their own jungles, they are at par in terms of popularity, name, growing fanbase, Box-office status & much more, there are times when our style bhai was way ahead of Shah Rukh. Here we go listing 8 such things that Salman did even before SRK attempted it.

Went shirtless: Salman was the one who brought in the trend of making shirtless appearances in the films. Though Shah Rukh initially stayed away from it, later he too was seen flaunting bare torso.

Six pack abs: The fad of building up six-pack abs was started by Salman when he got the gals hooting for him in the track ‘O O Jane Jana’ from PYAAR KIYA TOH DARNA KYA. SRK also followed the suit in the film OM SHANTI OM and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Massy Films: Shah Rukh shifted gears from classy to massy films, apparently following the model set by Salman Khan to expand his outreach to the masses. Since Salman caters to the masses, SRK also went his way.

Garba: Salman danced to the tunes of Gujarati folk dance way back in 90s in the film HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM. However, Shah Rukh would be seen grooving to the beats of graba now in his upcoming film (probably RAEES).

Double roles: Salman first time played double role in the film JUDWAA, which was a commercial success, released in 1997. While Shah Rukh followed it after a year with Yash Johar’s film DUPLICATE (1998). However, the film was a dud at Box-office

Eid Release: Eid slot, which is usually preoccupied and ruled by Salman ‘Dabangg’ Khan, was taken over by Shah Rukh during CHENNAI EXPRESS that released in Eid. And now he is once again set to release his yet another flick RAEES in Eid next year.

Singing: Salman first sang a special song in the film HELLO BROTHER and then subsequently Shah Rukh followed it with the film JOSH.

Romantic films: Shah Rukh may be known as the ‘King of Romance’, it was Salman Khan who was first seen as a lover boy on-screen. He starred in Sooraj Barjatya’s MAINE PYAR KIYA and emerged as the romantic hero of the B-town.
