On January 30, 1948 not only the nation was gripped in an emotional storm but the entire universe was filled with grief. The reason – Mahatma Gandhi, Father of Nation and world's greatest crusader of peace and humanity bid adieu from this world.
The death of Gandhiji came as a jolt to the film industry as well and as a mark of tribute film lyricist Rajendra Kishen and music composer Hussan Lal Bhagatram immediately composed a song Suno suno aye duniya walo bapu ki yhe amar kahani…' The song was sung by Mohammad Rafi so poignantly that it moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and he could not control his tears. However it is a tragedy that the song has been faded out from our memory, particularly because, no TV channel or radio remembers to play the song on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
