Brooding, intense and accurate – These could well be the right words to describe Randeep Hooda, both as an actor as well as a person. For someone who has been no-nonsense right through the decade spent in the industry, Randeep doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to his JOHN DAY. If he is playing a nihilist cop with conviction, it is because he believes that characters like these do exist.
It wasn't easy though for him to play this character, considering the fact that it seems to be gaining sadistic pleasure out of inflicting pain to others, both physically as well as mentally.
'Well, it may seem like a lot of fun but let me tell you something very frankly; it drains a lot out of you. In fact at times the very line between reality and fiction starts getting blurred. Your own conviction and faith in yourself gets all shaken up as you start exploring that side of yours which was hitherto hidden. You start wondering whether you are just plain acting or getting an excuse to reveal the mean side of yours,' details Randeep.
He further goes on to confess that being a part of a dark gritty thriller like JOHN DAY was a scary experience.
'Yes indeed, and this is what happens in the film as well. The world is not just made of goody-goody people. Everyone has a breaking point. As human beings, we are all flawed in our basic make,' he reflects, 'There is a lot of good that could be visible but then the bad too is just waiting to come out, given an excuse. It is this beastly side which is explored in JOHN DAY.'
