Konkona Sen Sharma Speaks Truth About Roles For Women In Films

0

Konkona Sen Sharma, known for her strong performances and unique choice of roles, recently shared her thoughts on how the film industry treats female actors. With a career spanning 25 years, she reflected on whether things have improved for women when it comes to getting meaningful roles.

Konkona, who was recently seen in Metro… In Dino directed by Anurag Basu, said that there has been some change, but only in certain areas. She explained that smaller films and projects on streaming platforms are offering better opportunities to women. However, big budget films still focus mostly on male leads.

Speaking about this, she said, “In some ways, I think, to a certain extent, perhaps in smaller-budget films or OTT films, to a certain extent, yes. But if you follow the money (laughs), then you will see that larger films will inevitably have larger-than-life male heroes.”

She also pointed out that this is not a new issue. According to her, the industry has followed this pattern for many years. While there are always a few films that break away from the usual formula and offer strong roles, they are limited in number. She added, “I don’t think this is necessarily a problem of today, but I think it’s kind of been like this for many, many years. Every year, you will find a handful of interesting films, films that don’t follow trends or a certain formula, but those kinds of films are few and far between.”

Konkona also spoke about how streaming platforms have helped to some extent. She said that these platforms sometimes show women in more complex roles, such as police officers or characters with grey shades. However, she noted that such roles are often given to older women, with only a few exceptions.

The actress was last seen alongside Pankaj Tripathi and is now working on her upcoming series Welcome to Khoya Mahal, which she has co created with Jaydeep Sarkar

Berlin is returning with a new story titled ‘Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine’, which is scheduled to premiere on May 15. The upcoming chapter continues the journey of Berlín as he takes on another risky heist, this time set in the Spanish city of Seville.

The story revolves around a famous artwork connected to Leonardo da Vinci. The crew’s latest mission focuses on stealing the painting ‘Lady with an Ermine’, one of the artist’s well known masterpieces. However, the plan becomes more complicated as personal emotions, sudden decisions and tensions within the group begin to affect the mission.

According to the official description, the heist is not just about careful planning and precision. The story also explores how relationships and emotional conflicts can create problems during high pressure situations. As the operation moves forward, members of the crew struggle to stay focused while dealing with their own personal issues and unpredictable choices.

The series stars Pedro Alonso in the lead role as Berlín. The cast also includes Michelle Jenner, Tristán Ulloa, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández, Joel Sánchez and Inma Cuesta.

‘Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine’ has been created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato. The creators are also known for their work on popular Spanish crime dramas that gained international popularity in recent years.

The new story aims to continue the suspense filled style associated with the Berlin character, combining crime, strategy and emotional drama. Set against the backdrop of Seville, the series focuses on how even the best planned robberies can quickly fall apart when trust and emotions begin to interfere.

With a famous artwork at the center of the plot and new challenges for the crew, the upcoming release is expected to continue the crime drama storyline connected to the world of Berlin.

Goldie Hawn Finally Responds After Meryl Streep Calls Her Out Over On-Set Habit

0

Goldie Hawn is fully owning up to one of Meryl Streep’s biggest complaints about working with her. And honestly, she is not even denying it. After Streep recently joked that Hawn was “always late” while filming the cult classic Death Becomes Her, Hawn has now responded with a hilarious confession of her own. “I think I’m 15 minutes late to everything. I do,” Hawn admitted during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“I mean, honestly, it’s unbelievable.”

The two actresses famously starred opposite each other in the 1992 dark comedy alongside Bruce Willis, playing bitter rivals obsessed with youth, beauty, and immortality.

But behind the scenes, apparently one of them was significantly more punctual than the other.

Streep first brought up Hawn’s lateness while reflecting on her career in a recent Vanity Fair interview ahead of The Devil Wears Prada 2.

“Goldie, she was always late to set, but she was so adorable,” Streep said.

“And I’m always on time, you know, and annoying.”

Streep even remembered Hawn arriving in her red convertible with messy hair while apologizing to the crew.

“She’s like, ‘Oh gosh, sorry!’ And everybody thought, ‘Oh, she’s so cute,’” Streep joked.

Despite the frustration, Streep made it very clear there was never actual bad blood between them.

“I had a beef with her, but I loved her. I love her. She’s one of my buddies,” she added.

Now Hawn is responding with the exact kind of energy fans would expect from her.

“We got through that,” Hawn joked, before explaining that the disagreement eventually became a running joke between the two stars over the years.

“She said I was too late on the set. Maybe she’s too early. I don’t know.”

Honestly, that might be the most Goldie Hawn response possible. Hawn then hilariously defended herself by suggesting punctual people might actually be the problem sometimes.

“Sometimes when you’re too early, you’re still waiting for somebody and you think, ‘Oh God, where the hell is she?’”

The internet, of course, absolutely loves this entire story.

Fans online have been calling the exchange “peak Goldie and Meryl energy,” with many saying the actresses perfectly match the chaotic rivalry they portrayed in Death Becomes Her. Others joked that Streep being hyper-organized while Hawn casually arrives late with glamorous messy hair somehow feels exactly like their real-life personalities.

Even after more than three decades, fans still consider Death Becomes Her one of the most iconic female-led cult comedies ever made.

The film has only grown more beloved over time, especially among younger audiences discovering it through streaming and viral social media clips.

And honestly, hearing stories like this somehow makes the movie even better.

Despite the occasional lateness drama, the actresses remained close friends long after filming wrapped.

In fact, Hawn even honored Streep during her American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony back in 2004.

“I love you, baby! Way to go,” Hawn told her during the tribute.

So while Meryl Streep may still be waiting on Goldie Hawn to show up on time somewhere, their friendship clearly survived the chaos just fine.

Ted Turner Leaves Behind the Media Empire That Changed How the World Watches News

0

Ted Turner, the media mogul who built CNN and helped reshape global television, has died at 87. His death was confirmed by Turner Enterprises, according to reports from Variety, CNN, Reuters, AP and People. Turner had revealed in 2018 that he was living with Lewy body dementia, a brain disorder that affects memory and other cognitive functions. Turner was not just another television executive. He was one of the rare figures who changed the way the world consumed news. When he launched CNN in 1980, the idea of a 24-hour news channel seemed risky, even unrealistic.

But within a decade, CNN became a global force, especially during the 1991 Gulf War, when viewers around the world watched major history unfold live on television. Before CNN, Turner had already helped pioneer national cable television through TBS, turning a struggling Atlanta station into a “superstation” carried by satellite into millions of homes. He later created TNT and Turner Classic Movies, using his massive film library after acquiring MGM.

His influence stretched far beyond news. Turner owned the Atlanta Braves, who won the World Series in 1995 during his ownership era. He was also an accomplished yachtsman, winning the 1977 America’s Cup and earning the nickname “Captain Outrageous.”

But Turner’s legacy is not only about media power. He became one of America’s most visible philanthropists, donating $1 billion to create the United Nations Foundation and supporting causes including nuclear disarmament, climate change, public health and conservation.

His life was also marked by personal complexity. He was outspoken, impulsive and often controversial, earning the nickname “Mouth of the South.” He was married three times, including to actress Jane Fonda, and had five children.

Turner’s career had dramatic highs and painful losses. His 1996 sale of Turner Broadcasting to Time Warner made him even richer, but the later AOL Time Warner merger cost him billions and eventually pushed him out of the company he helped build.

Still, his impact is impossible to separate from modern media. Every breaking news alert, every live crisis broadcast, every 24-hour news cycle owes something to the world Turner imagined.

Ted Turner did not just build channels. He built the speed of modern television.

Hollywood may finally be heading toward its biggest summer comeback since the pandemic.

0

The strong start has already boosted confidence. The Devil Wears Prada 2 opened with a massive $76.7 million debut, while Michael continued dominating in its second weekend with another $54.4 million. Together, the market delivered the second-best start to a summer movie season since the pandemic. Industry experts say audiences are clearly still willing to show up for movies that feel like major events. And this summer has no shortage of them.

Among the biggest releases are Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Odyssey, Toy Story 5, The Mandalorian and Grogue and Supergirl.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already generating huge hype, especially after IMAX 70mm screenings reportedly sold out nearly a year in advance. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to become one of the summer’s biggest titles when it arrives at the end of July.

But despite the optimism, the report also points out a growing issue inside Hollywood. Studios are releasing fewer major movies than they used to.

While there are technically 57 wide releases scheduled this summer, only around 34 of them are considered major studio-backed titles with serious marketing campaigns behind them. Analysts believe studios have become increasingly dependent on giant event films carrying the entire season.

“There’s an audience for every single one of these films, but they have to be made aware of them,” Greenlight Analytics CEO Bill Skelly said.

The article also notes that younger audiences simply do not attend theaters as frequently as previous generations did, while rising ticket and concession prices continue frustrating regular moviegoers.

Still, there is hope that strong theatrical experiences can bring audiences back.

One of the more unusual examples this year is Backrooms, an upcoming A24 horror project based on the viral internet urban legend that exploded across YouTube, Reddit and Roblox culture. The report suggests the movie could become this summer’s surprise breakout hit thanks to its massive online fanbase. At the center of it all is one major question.

Can Hollywood rebuild a healthy theatrical market with fewer movies, or are audiences only showing up now for giant franchise-level events? This summer may finally provide the answer.

Melissa Barrera Says Her Hollywood Comeback Is Still a Fight

0

Melissa Barrera is speaking honestly about what happened after her Hollywood career nearly came to a halt. The actress, best known for Scream, Scream VI and In the Heights, was fired from Scream 7 in 2023 after posting about Gaza and criticizing the Israeli government’s actions. Spyglass said at the time that it had “zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate,” while Barrera denied being antisemitic and said she was speaking for peace, human rights and civilian safety.

Now, in a new Variety interview, Barrera says the fallout was brutal. She claims offers disappeared for nearly a year and that many people in the industry sent private support, but very few took action publicly.

According to Barrera, the person who finally helped shift things was filmmaker Boots Riley, who reached out months later with an offer for his film I Love Boosters. She says that moment felt like a turning point because soon after, more offers began appearing.

Barrera is currently starring as Rose in the Broadway musical Titaníque, which received four Tony nominations this year. The role has given her a very different kind of stage than Hollywood. She says theater has brought her peace, purpose and a community that feels more open about politics and art.

She also reflected on Scream 7, saying fans still bring Scream items for her to sign at the stage door. Barrera said the franchise will always be part of her story, even if the firing changed her relationship with the industry.

The actress also criticized the new film’s direction, calling it “nostalgia-bait” and questioning its reported box office numbers, though Variety noted that the $207 million worldwide total was independently verified.

What stands out most is that Barrera is not presenting this as a clean comeback story. She says she is still blocked from certain spaces and believes the backlash has not fully disappeared.

But she is also moving forward. She is starting a production company, building a slate of projects and says she wants to work with artists who share her values. For Barrera, this next phase is not just about getting hired again. It is about having more control over what happens next.

Alleged Jeffrey Epstein Suicide Note Released Years After His Death

0

A federal judge has released what is being described as an alleged suicide note connected to Jeffrey Epstein years after the disgraced financier’s death inside a New York jail. The handwritten document surfaced as part of a criminal case involving Epstein’s former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, according to TMZ. The note had reportedly remained sealed until now.

In the alleged note, the writer says:

“They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!!”

The document also references “15 or 16 year old charges” and includes statements about being able to “choose one’s time to say goodbye.”

Another line in the note reads:

“Watcha want me to do — Bust out cryin! NO FUN — NOT WORTH IT!!”

According to reports, Tartaglione claimed he discovered the note in July 2019 after Epstein was found unresponsive in his jail cell following an apparent suicide attempt.

Epstein did not die at that time. However, weeks later, he was found dead inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan on August 10, 2019. His death was officially ruled a suicide by hanging, though the circumstances surrounding it sparked years of public scrutiny, speculation, and conspiracy theories.

The release of the alleged note has once again reignited online debate surrounding Epstein’s death and the events leading up to it. At this time, the document has not been authenticated, and there is no official confirmation that Epstein personally wrote the note.

Jeffrey Epstein was facing federal sex trafficking charges at the time of his death and had long been accused of abusing and trafficking underage girls. His connections to powerful figures in politics, business, entertainment, and royalty made the case one of the most high-profile criminal scandals in modern history.

Years later, public interest in the Epstein case remains intense, especially as new court documents, testimonies, and previously sealed materials continue to emerge.

We are attaching the alleged note below.

Bhooth Bangla Crosses Rs. 141 Crore As Akshay Kumar Returns To Form

Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, continued its steady run at the Indian box office during its third week. The horror comedy also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Mithila Palkar, Tabu and Jisshu Sengupta in important roles.

On its third Wednesday, the film added Rs. 1.50 crore to its total collection. This was a drop of around 25 per cent compared to Tuesday’s numbers. According to current estimates, the movie’s total collection in India now stands at Rs. 141.50 crore.

Trade estimates suggest that the film is likely to finish its third week with around Rs. 143 crore gross collections. If the current trend continues, the movie is expected to cross the Rs. 145 crore mark during the fourth weekend and may eventually move towards the Rs. 150 crore nett milestone. At the moment, the film is expected to end its full theatrical run at around Rs. 155 crore.

For Akshay Kumar, the success of Bhooth Bangla comes after a difficult period at the box office in recent years. After the pandemic, several of his films did not perform as expected commercially. Last year, some of his releases managed decent business, but none were considered major hits. Bhooth Bangla has now emerged as one of his stronger performing films in recent times.

The report also highlights how actors like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn continue to maintain a high number of film releases every year compared to many other stars who often take longer gaps between projects. Industry observers believe regular releases from leading actors help keep cinema business active across theatres in India.

The box office collections for Bhooth Bangla in India are as follows:

Week One collected Rs. 80.50 crore.

Week Two collected Rs. 41.50 crore.

The film earned Rs. 4.50 crore on 3rd Friday, Rs. 4.50 crore on 3rd Saturday and Rs. 5.50 crore on 3rd Sunday.

On 3rd Monday, the film collected Rs. 1.50 crore, followed by Rs. 2.00 crore on 3rd Tuesday and Rs. 1.50 crore on 3rd Wednesday.

The total collection currently stands at Rs. 141.50 crore.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 Crosses Rs. 20 Crore At Indian Box Office

The Devil Wears Prada 2 continued its steady performance at the Indian box office on Day 6. The film earned around Rs. 1.40 crore on Wednesday, taking its total collection to approximately Rs. 20.30 crore gross in India.

Starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in lead roles, the film is expected to finish its first week with collections close to Rs. 22 crore. Trade reports suggest the movie may see another rise in collections during its second weekend if audience interest remains strong.

Hollywood films have been performing well in India this year. Recent releases like Project Hail Mary, The Mummydirected by Lee Cronin, and Michael have all recorded successful runs at the Indian box office. Based on current trends, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is expected to become another successful Hollywood release in the country.

Industry observers believe the film could soon cross the lifetime collection of The Mummy in India. Whether it will also go past the final numbers of Michael remains to be seen in the coming weeks.

The film’s box office collections in India so far are:

Previews: Rs. 1.85 crore
Day 1: Rs. 4.50 crore
Day 2: Rs. 5.00 crore
Day 3: Rs. 4.65 crore
Day 4: Rs. 1.50 crore
Day 5: Rs. 1.40 crore
Day 6: Rs. 1.40 crore (est.)

Total: Rs. 20.30 crore

Apart from Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, the film also features a large supporting cast including Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B. J. Novak, Conrad Ricamora, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman.

Michael Crosses Rs. 50 Crore In India With Strong Weekday Run

Michael is continuing its steady performance at the Indian box office. The musical comedy starring Jaafar Jackson collected Rs. 1.75 crore on Day 13, taking its total India gross collection to Rs. 50.25 crore.

According to trade estimates, the film is expected to finish its second week with around Rs. 51.50 crore gross. The movie has managed to stay stable during weekdays, which is considered a positive sign for its long theatrical run. Based on current trends, the film is likely to see a jump in collections during its third weekend.

At present, Michael is expected to finish its overall theatrical run in India at around Rs. 75 crore gross. This is being seen as a strong performance for a Hollywood music based film in the Indian market.

With these numbers, Michael has now emerged as a HIT release in India. It also becomes the third successful Hollywood film of the year after Project Hail Mary and The Mummy. Interestingly, all three films were released within a gap of nearly one month.

Another recent Hollywood release, The Devil Wears Prada 2, is also performing well at the Indian box office. While trade experts believe it may not become a major HIT, it is still expected to complete a successful run.

What makes these performances important is that none of these films belong to the type of big franchise or established intellectual property that usually performs strongly in India. Hollywood films in the country often depend heavily on popular franchises and superhero stories for strong collections. However, recent releases have shown that audiences are also supporting different genres and fresh stories.

Industry observers believe 2026 could become a strong year for Hollywood films in India if this trend continues. Several big international releases based on popular franchises are also expected later this year, which may further boost Hollywood’s box office performance in the country.

The box office collections for Michael in India are as follows:

Week One collection stood at Rs. 31.25 crore.

The film collected Rs. 4.00 crore on 2nd Friday, Rs. 4.50 crore on 2nd Saturday and Rs. 5.00 crore on 2nd Sunday.

On 2nd Monday, the movie earned Rs. 1.75 crore, followed by Rs. 2.00 crore on 2nd Tuesday and Rs. 1.75 crore on 2nd Wednesday.

The total collection currently stands at Rs. 50.25 crore.
