Representing L’Oréal Paris as a global ambassador, Aishwarya first appeared on the Cannes red carpet in a dramatic blue gown designed by Amit Aggarwal. She paired the look with soft curls, pink toned makeup, bright red lipstick and diamond jewellery with blue stones, creating a striking appearance that stood out instantly.

Later, Aishwarya changed into a soft pink gown designed by Sophie Couture for the “Lights On Women’s Worth” event. The outfit included floral details and a flowing cape, adding a graceful touch to her evening look. Celebrities like Eva Longoria, Ariana Greenblatt and Amy Jackson also attended the event.

For the closing ceremony of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya chose a stylish white tuxedo inspired outfit with feather details and a matching feather boa. Her curly hairstyle completed the classy and confident look that once again proved why fans often call her the Queen of Cannes.

Apart from Aishwarya’s fashion, her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan also grabbed huge attention this year. Wearing a ruby red gown with a matching cape, she confidently posed for photographers and quickly became one of the most talked about moments from Cannes.

Huma Qureshi Says Female Led Films Still Face Bias In Bollywood

0

Huma Qureshi recently spoke about the challenges faced by women led films in Bollywood during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. The actress shared her views on how female oriented projects still do not receive the same financial support and large budgets that films with male stars usually get.

During an interaction with Brut India at Cannes, Huma spoke about the need for more original female focused stories in Indian cinema. She highlighted India’s cultural diversity, mythology, and storytelling traditions as strong sources for such narratives.

When asked if audiences have become more accepting of women centric films and whether more Hindi adaptations of female led projects could be made, Huma replied, “I hope we don’t do any remakes. I hope we do more original content. We have so much potential in our country to have our own kind of female forward narrative. We have such a diverse country. Look at our mythology, culture. Look at the stories that come from our country. I feel like the focus should be on that constantly.”

The actress also spoke openly about the industry’s perception that women led films have limited box office potential. According to Huma, this mindset still affects how such films are financed and promoted.

She said, “Honestly, if you ask me, it’s something that I am also going through or struggling with right now. Where we don’t get the kind of budgets that male movie stars get. There’s always that bias that female films have a certain box office potential.”

When asked whether this kind of bias still exists today, Huma answered, “Yes, definitely. Maybe people wouldn’t say it as much, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. And that’s something you have to constantly navigate.”

The actress added that female actors across the industry are continuously trying to push boundaries and improve opportunities for future generations. She explained, “But the only way to break that is to keep going through and just constantly keep working. And not just me, I feel so many of my female colleagues are constantly pushing that envelope and pushing hard to change the reality for not just themselves in their careers, but also for many others that will follow through.”

On the work front, Huma Qureshi will next be seen in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas*. The film stars Yash in the lead role along with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Sudev Nair.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Sees Sharp Drop At Box Office In Second Week

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has started slowing down at the box office after completing its first week in theatres. The film, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles, released on May 15, 2026 and had opened with decent collections during its first weekend.

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film earned Rs 1.35 crore on Day 8, according to industry tracking data cited by Sacnilk. This marked a drop of around 32.5% compared to the previous day. The movie was screened in 2,788 shows across India, but audience footfalls reduced steadily as the weekdays progressed.

The film closed its first week with a collection of Rs 29 crore. Out of this, the opening weekend alone contributed Rs 17.5 crore. With the Day 8 numbers added, the total India net collection now stands at Rs 30.35 crore. The domestic gross collection has reached Rs 36.02 crore, while overseas markets contributed Rs 5.85 crore. This has taken the film’s worldwide gross total to Rs 41.87 crore.

The day wise collection trend shows a gradual fall after the first weekend. The film collected Rs 4 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 5.75 crore on Day 2 and Rs 7.75 crore on Day 3. After the weekend, collections dropped to Rs 3.25 crore on Day 4, Rs 3.50 crore on Day 5, Rs 2.75 crore on Day 6, Rs 2 crore on Day 7, and Rs 1.35 crore on Day 8.

The film is also facing strong competition from new theatrical releases. Movies like Chand Mera Dil starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya, along with Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, have divided audience attention in cinemas.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is considered a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh, which featured Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, and Bhumi Pednekar. The latest film also includes actors Vijay Raaz, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ayesha Raza Mishra, and Deepika Amin in supporting roles.

The film has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics. CNN News18 Showsha rated the film 3.5 stars and wrote, “At 1 hour and 57 minutes, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is a like a ride at a local fare – nothing too snazzy and expensive but still fun, for the most part. And then there are the histrionics. This is a film that thrives on excess – excess pandemonium, excess coincidences, excess screaming, excess melodrama and, at times, excess confidence in its own absurdity.”

Suriya’s Karuppu Crosses Rs 100 Crore In Just 7 Days

Karuppu has finally emerged as the big box office success the Tamil film industry had been waiting for in 2026. Starring Suriya in the lead role and directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama has managed to attract large audiences to theatres after a long dry spell for Tamil cinema.

The film has officially crossed the Rs 100 crore net mark at the Indian box office within just 7 days of release. According to reports, Karuppu has collected around Rs 100.14 crore in India, becoming the first Tamil film in almost nine months to achieve this milestone. The strong performance has brought relief to the Tamil film industry, which had been waiting for a major theatrical blockbuster this year.

Before Karuppu, Coolie starring Rajinikanth was the last Tamil film to dominate the box office during the Independence Day weekend last year. Although films like Good Bad Ugly and Dragon performed well, 2026 had mostly remained slow for Kollywood until Karuppu arrived.

Most of the film’s earnings have come from Tamil Nadu, where it reportedly collected more than Rs 85 crore net. The Telugu dubbed version has also performed well by earning around Rs 15 crore, showing that the film has connected with audiences beyond Tamil speaking regions.

Karuppu has also become a strong overseas success. Reports suggest the movie earned nearly Rs 57 crore overseas during its first week, making it the highest grossing Tamil film overseas in 2026 so far. The worldwide gross collection is now said to be close to Rs 175 crore.

After the film’s successful run, Suriya shared an emotional note thanking audiences and the entire team behind the project. He thanked viewers for supporting the film and appreciated the cast and crew for believing in the story. The actor also praised producers SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu for supporting the film despite delays and production issues.

Suriya also thanked RJ Balaji for confidently promising a blockbuster and eventually delivering a successful film appreciated by audiences. Apart from directing the movie, RJ Balaji also played the main antagonist in the story.

Karuppu combines elements of folk tale, fantasy, and courtroom drama. The story follows Vettai Karuppu, a guardian deity who takes human form as lawyer Saravanan to fight corruption and injustice in a rural legal system controlled by powerful people. As the conflict grows, the deity uses divine powers to protect innocent villagers and restore justice.

The film also marks the reunion of Suriya and Trisha Krishnan after their 2005 film Aaru. The supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi in important roles.

Drishyam 3 Continues Strong Box Office Run With Rs. 20 Crore Total

Drishyam 3 is continuing its strong run at the Kerala box office after a solid start in cinemas. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the family crime thriller collected around Rs. 11 crore on its opening day and added another Rs. 9 crore on Day 2. With this, the total collection of the film has reached approximately Rs. 20 crore within just two days of release.

The film saw around an 18 per cent drop in collections on the second day compared to its opening day numbers. Despite the slight drop, the overall performance remains strong and trade analysts are expecting better growth during the weekend. Based on current trends, the Mohanlal starrer is likely to witness a noticeable increase in collections on Saturday and Sunday. If the momentum continues, the film could finish its 4 day opening weekend with earnings between Rs. 40 crore and Rs. 45 crore at the Kerala box office.

The latest part of the Drishyam franchise has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics. While some viewers have praised the emotional and psychological elements of the story, others have felt that the film moves at a slower pace compared to the earlier installments. Even with divided opinions, the movie continues to attract family audiences and loyal fans of the franchise.

One of the main reasons behind the strong performance is the popularity of the Drishyam series and the audience’s connection with the character of Georgekutty. Mohanlal’s return to the role has generated significant interest among viewers, especially in Kerala where the franchise enjoys a strong fan base.

Trade experts believe the film’s long term performance will now depend mainly on how it performs during weekdays. A stable hold from Monday onwards will be important if the film wants to emerge as a major blockbuster at the box office.

The day wise box office collections of Drishyam 3 are as follows:

Day 1 – Rs. 11.00 crore
Day 2 – Rs. 9.00 crore (estimated)

Total – Rs. 20.00 crore

The Mandalorian And Grogu Opens Slow At Indian Box Office

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu began its box office journey in India on a slow note by collecting around Rs. 1 crore gross on its opening day. The film stars Pedro Pascal in the lead role and was expected to benefit from the lack of any major Indian film releases this weekend, especially in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu markets. However, the opening response remained limited across cinemas.

One of the main reasons being discussed for the weak opening is the limited popularity of the Star Wars franchise in India. While the series has a massive fan following in Western countries, it has never managed to build a strong theatrical market in India. Among the previous films, only Star Wars: The Force Awakens performed somewhat decently at the Indian box office when it released in 2015. Most other Star Wars films have struggled to attract large audiences in the country.

The new film has been directed and co written by Jon Favreau. Trade analysts believe that the movie now depends heavily on weekend growth to improve its overall performance in India. Strong word of mouth and positive audience response over Saturday and Sunday could help the film maintain a stable run in theatres.

Hollywood films have generally performed well in India this year, with several releases surprising trade experts through strong theatrical runs. Films such as Project Hail Mary, The Mummy, Michael, and The Devil Weds Prada 2 have managed to attract audiences and perform successfully at the Indian box office.

Pedro Pascal’s previous science fiction release, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, had opened much better in India. Industry observers believe that Marvel’s strong brand value and popularity among Indian audiences played a major role in that performance.

It will now be important to see how The Mandalorian and Grogu performs during the weekend and whether it can sustain audience interest in cinemas over the coming weeks.

Is Allu Arjun the New Shaktimaan? Director Finally Breaks Silence

0

The much awaited Shaktimaan movie directed by Basil Joseph is once again making headlines. Ever since his superhero film Minnal Murali became a huge success across India, fans have been eager to see his version of the iconic superhero. Over the years, many rumours have linked actors like Ranveer Singh and Allu Arjun to the project. Now, filmmaker Arun Anirudhan has shared new details about what is really happening behind the scenes.

Speaking on Club FM 94.3, Arun revealed that he and writer Paulson Skaria were working on the screenplay for Basil’s next directorial project, which was planned as a massive Shaktimaan film. However, the project never moved forward. Arun admitted that the situation is very complicated and even he is unsure whether the film will finally happen or not. His statement has disappointed fans who were hoping for an official announcement soon.

Rumours recently spread that Basil Joseph had pitched the Shaktimaan project to Allu Arjun after the Telugu superstar reportedly loved Minnal Murali. Arun confirmed that Allu Arjun and Basil are indeed in touch and that the actor admired Basil’s work. However, he clearly denied that the project they are discussing is Shaktimaan. According to him, the collaboration with Allu Arjun is a completely different film and more updates will be shared later.

Basil himself has also remained careful while speaking about the actor and their possible collaboration. In a recent interview with Cineulagam, he avoided giving direct answers and simply said that things are still uncertain. He explained that filmmaking is a long process and he would only speak openly when the time is right.

Meanwhile, original Shaktimaan star Mukesh Khanna had earlier shared that he believes Allu Arjun would be a strong choice for the superhero role. While he did not confirm anything officially, he praised the actor’s screen presence and felt he could suit the character well.

Last year, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also spoke about Basil’s struggles with the project. He claimed Basil told him he spent nearly two years trying to make Shaktimaan happen in Bollywood while dealing with difficult industry politics and ego clashes. According to Anurag, the experience left Basil frustrated and exhausted.

Rajpal Yadav’s Cryptic Jab at Saurabh Dwivedi Amid ‘Kartavya’ Backlash Goes Viral

0

Journalist turned actor Saurabh Dwivedi has become the center of online trolling after making his acting debut in the Netflix crime thriller Kartavya. The series stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead role and was expected to create buzz because of its strong cast and production team. However, instead of the story, social media users have been focusing mostly on Dwivedi’s performance.

Many viewers criticized his acting style, saying his dialogue delivery and expressions looked stiff and unnatural. Several users on X compared his scenes to a television news debate, joking that he sounded exactly like he does during interviews as a journalist. Clips from the show quickly turned into memes and spread widely online.

Directed by Pulkit and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Kartavya features Dwivedi as a powerful and suspicious man connected to a major murder investigation. Saif Ali Khan plays a police officer trying to solve the case while dealing with corruption and political pressure. The show also stars Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, and Manish Chaudhari. The series premiered on Netflix on May 15, 2026.

The controversy grew bigger after a social media post by veteran actor Rajpal Yadav. On May 19, Rajpal shared pictures on Instagram where he was sitting on a royal style chair. Fans quickly noticed that the chair looked very similar to the one used by Dwivedi’s character in Kartavya. This led many users to believe Rajpal was indirectly mocking him.

The tension between Rajpal Yadav and Saurabh Dwivedi reportedly goes back to the Chetak Screen Awards 2026. During the event, Dwivedi was hosting the show while Rajpal was speaking about global issues. Dwivedi interrupted him with a joke about the actor’s financial troubles, saying that no matter how much the dollar and rupee fluctuate, Rajpal would still have to repay his debts. While the audience laughed, Rajpal stayed calm and responded politely.

As old clips from the award show resurfaced online, many users criticized Dwivedi for making fun of Rajpal’s personal and legal struggles. Fans on social media are now divided, with some defending Dwivedi while others continue trolling him over both the controversy and his acting debut.

Chand Mera Dil Faces Slow Start At Box Office On Day 1

Chand Mera Dil had a disappointing start at the Indian box office after collecting around Rs. 2.75 crore nett on its first day. Early trends and advance bookings had suggested that the film could earn somewhere between Rs. 3.50 crore and Rs. 4 crore on opening day. However, the response remained weak as the day progressed, and the film could not even cross the Rs. 3 crore mark.

While crossing Rs. 3 crore may not have made a huge difference, trade experts believe that an opening above Rs. 4 crore would have given the film a stronger chance to build momentum over the weekend. The film belongs to the emotional romantic drama category, often called the “pain in love story” genre, which saw some unexpected successes last year. One of the biggest examples was Saiyaara, which performed very well at the box office mainly because of its highly popular music album.

In the case of Chand Mera Dil, the music has received a decent response but has not created the same level of popularity among audiences. Industry observers feel that strong music is extremely important for small and medium budget romantic films, especially after the pandemic changed theatre viewing habits across the country. Compared to the strong theatrical business seen during 2018 and 2019, many films in this genre are now finding it harder to attract large crowds to cinemas.

The makers had also reduced ticket prices on the first day to encourage more people to watch the film. However, this strategy may have affected the film’s weekend growth because a section of the audience that usually watches during Saturday and Sunday may have already watched it on Friday. Advance bookings for the following day have also not shown major improvement, which has increased concerns about the film’s overall performance.
