The much-awaited war drama Border 2, led by Sunny Deol, has cleared a major pre-release hurdle. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved the film’s first teaser on August 7, giving the green light to a promotional clip titled Date Announcement Teaser No. 1. The teaser runs for 1 minute and 10 seconds and has been rated U/A 16+.
Teaser to Drop on August 15
Sources confirm the teaser will be officially released on August 15, 2025, aligning with Independence Day. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Border 2 is a patriotic film, and there’s no better occasion than August 15 to drop its teaser. It’ll highlight the India–Pakistan conflict while confirming the Republic Day 2026 release.”
The teaser is expected to screen in theatres nationwide, especially before War 2—the upcoming action film starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
Patriotic Spirit and Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Anurag Singh (Kesari, Punjab 1984), Border 2 revisits the intensity of India–Pakistan tensions. The film features an ensemble cast: Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Medha Rana, who plays the female lead opposite Dhawan. Backed by T-Series and JP Films, the film is set to hit cinemas on January 23, 2026, just ahead of Republic Day.

Diljit Dosanjh Controversy
Diljit Dosanjh’s casting sparked backlash following the India release cancellation of his film Sardaar Ji 3 with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. Petitions demanded his removal from Border 2, but producers clarified over half the movie was already shot, and replacing him would cause financial strain. Despite the controversy, Dosanjh has also signed on for the No Entry sequel.
