Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continued its strong run at the Indian box office by collecting an estimated Rs. 10.25 crore gross on Day 5, which was Tuesday. The slight increase in collections came because of discounted ticket prices offered on Tuesday. While the growth was not very big, the film still managed to maintain a steady performance during the weekdays.
With its latest earnings, the film’s total collection in India has reached Rs. 89 crore gross after 5 days of release. The movie is now expected to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark before the end of this week if it continues to perform at a similar pace.
The film features a star cast including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Zendaya. Early audience response and reviews have been largely positive, helping the film remain steady after a strong opening weekend. Positive word of mouth has also encouraged more viewers to watch the film in cinemas.
Trade expectations suggest that The Odyssey could comfortably collect more than Rs. 190 crore gross during its theatrical run in India. If the film continues to hold well over the coming weeks, it may also have a chance of reaching the Rs. 200 crore mark. The film is expected to enjoy a relatively clear second week at the box office before facing competition from Spider Man: Brand New Day in its third week.
Christopher Nolan’s popularity continues to play an important role in the film’s performance. Over the years, the director has built a loyal audience in India through films such as Inception, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer. His recent releases, including the re release of Interstellar, have attracted strong interest from Indian audiences, making his films major theatrical events.
The genre of The Odyssey is not usually among the strongest performers at the Indian box office. Even so, the film has managed to attract audiences because of Nolan’s reputation and the positive response it has received since release.
