At a time when people often feel divided by culture and politics, a small moment involving Anne Hathaway has connected many people online. While talking about her upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2, she used the word “Inshallah,” which means “God willing” in Arabic.
During the interaction, she said, “I just really wanna hopefully live and enjoy a life. I wanna have a long, healthy life, Inshallah, I hope so. Inshallah!” Her use of the phrase felt natural and relaxed, which is what caught people’s attention.
Kris Fade, a Dubai based Australian Lebanese radio host known for appearing in Dubai Bling, reacted to the clip as it spread online. Many social media users shared their thoughts, saying the word is commonly used in daily life across different cultures.
One user wrote, “Asians say it all the time.” Another shared, “In South Africa we all say it , we grew up in a community of mixed religions as Indians and celebrated with each too.” A third added, “But in shaa Allah is used by Arab Christians, and in other communities too. Whatever it is, it was used well.” These reactions show that the phrase is not limited to one religion or region and is part of everyday language for many people.
At the same time, Anne Hathaway has been named the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Star 2026’ by People magazine. She shared the news on Instagram and wrote, “Thank you so much to @people magazine for having me on the cover!”
The film brings back familiar faces from the original 2006 movie. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to their roles. The sequel is directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna. New cast members include Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, and Lucy Liu among others.
