Bhooth Bangla Sees Surprise Jump On Third Tuesday

Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and Wamiqa Gabbi, is continuing its steady run at the Indian box office. On its third Tuesday, the film collected around Rs. 2 crore, which was about 25 per cent higher than its Monday collections. With this, the total box office collection of the film has reached around Rs. 140 crore nett in India.

The film has performed consistently over the past few weeks. In its third week alone, it has already collected around Rs. 18 crore and is expected to finish the week at around Rs. 20 to Rs. 21 crore. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is likely to cross the Rs. 150 crore mark soon. If the current trend continues, it may finish its total run close to Rs. 160 crore.

This film is important for Akshay Kumar, who has faced a difficult period at the box office in recent years. After the pandemic, several of his films did not perform as expected. Last year showed some improvement, with three films doing average business, but none reached the level of a clear hit. Bhooth Bangla now appears to be that much needed successful film.

The performance of Akshay Kumar is often seen as important for the overall film industry. While he may not always deliver very high grossing films, he is known for releasing multiple films in a year. Having two or three successful films annually helps keep theatres active and supports the industry. Compared to many other actors who release films less frequently, his regular presence contributes to steady box office activity. Among current actors, only Ajay Devgn has a similar level of consistent output.

The Indian box office largely depends on popular actors bringing films to theatres regularly. When leading stars have fewer releases, it affects the overall performance of the industry.

Box office collections in India are as follows
Week One Rs. 80.50 cr.
Week Two Rs. 41.50 cr.

3rd Friday Rs. 4.50 cr.
3rd Saturday Rs. 4.50 cr.
3rd Sunday Rs. 5.50 cr.
3rd Monday Rs. 1.50 cr.
3rd Tuesday Rs. 2.00 cr. estimated

Total Rs. 140 cr.

Harry Potter Official Film Podcast to revisit all 8 films with behind the scenes stories

0

The magic of Hogwarts is returning in a completely new way as Warner Bros. Discovery officially launches Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast, the first-ever official podcast dedicated entirely to the Harry Potter film franchise. Premiering on May 19, the series arrives as part of the global celebrations marking 25 years since the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the film that introduced millions of viewers to the wizarding world and changed fantasy storytelling forever.

The sixteen-episode podcast will revisit all eight Harry Potter films through an emotional, funny, and deeply nostalgic rewatch experience led by acclaimed film critic and broadcaster Rhianna Dhillon, who is also a lifelong Harry Potter fan and proudly identifies herself as a Slytherin. Across the series, Dhillon will be joined by a rotating lineup of co-hosts from the entertainment world as they revisit the films that defined an entire generation of moviegoers.

Rather than simply revisiting plot points, the podcast promises to dive deep into the emotional storytelling, imaginative world-building, and cinematic craft that made the Harry Potter films such a global phenomenon. Each movie will be explored across two episodes, allowing conversations to go far beyond surface-level nostalgia. Every episode begins with what the creators describe as a “Pensieve” style recap before moving into discussions about memorable scenes, themes, filmmaking choices, performances, and the emotional impact the films continue to have even today.

One of the major highlights of the series is a recurring segment titled Magic Makers, where special behind-the-scenes guests from the Harry Potter films will share stories about bringing Hogwarts, magical creatures, spells, costumes, and iconic moments to life on screen. The podcast aims to give fans a rare insider perspective into the making of the franchise while also celebrating the personal connection audiences still have with the films decades later.

The newly released trailer already gives fans a glimpse into the warm and heartfelt tone of the series, with conversations that mix humour, analysis, fandom, and personal memories attached to the films. Dhillon and her guests also reflect on their own first experiences watching Harry Potter and how the movies continue to resonate with audiences across different generations.

The podcast will launch with a special two-episode premiere, with new episodes dropping weekly afterward. The video version will stream on HBO Max, while the audio version will be available globally on major podcast platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

The launch comes at a time when interest in the Wizarding World is growing once again ahead of HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation, which is currently in development. For longtime fans who grew up waiting for letters from Hogwarts, and for newer audiences discovering the films for the first time, Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast looks set to become a nostalgic return to one of cinema’s most beloved magical universes.

Pedro Pascal Reveals Childhood Story Linked To Star Wars

0

On Star Wars Day, actors Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver along with director Jon Favreau attended a special fan event in Berlin. The event was held at UCI Luxe Cinemas, where more than 1,000 fans gathered to watch exclusive footage from Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu. After the screening, the team also met fans near the Spree River for photographs.

Earlier in the day, during a press interaction, the three spoke about their first experiences with the Star Wars films. Jon Favreau shared that he was around 10 or 11 years old when he watched Star Wars in a theatre with his father in New York. “I went with my dad in New York,” he recalled. “I still remember when that giant spaceship appeared, the blockade runner goes by, then the (Star) Destroyer kept going and going. The theatre went from a gasp to laughter to cheering, and it didn’t stop. George Lucas, being the cinephile he is, layered in so many references that I didn’t even understand at the time. The film opened me up to not just Star Wars but to cinema in general. At first, I love it as a spectacle, and as I grew older, I love the storytelling and the humanity.”

Sigourney Weaver also shared her memory of watching the same film in 1977 at a theatre in New York. “I saw it at the Ziegfeld in New York City in 1977, along with thousands of other people. We hadn’t seen anything like it, it really took you to another galaxy, another universe. It had heart, it had humour. But what I loved most was that there were so many different species, and for the most part, they were all getting along. There was the evil empire, but otherwise, no matter what you looked like, you had a home in Star Wars. I loved that about it.”

Pedro Pascal spoke about how the films were a big part of his childhood. “I was born in ’75, so my entire childhood is shaped by those first movies,” he said. “I saw the first Star Wars before The Empire Strikes Back and then Return of the Jedi, my personal favourite. I cannot help the memory of finally getting tickets to Return of the Jedi. We had tried like three or four times for the tickets and it was sold out every time. My sister had already seen it and I hadn’t, and it was absolute hell. When I finally got in, it was one of the greatest moviegoing experiences of my life.”

The upcoming film Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu continues the story in a galaxy where the Empire has fallen but its remaining forces are still active. The New Republic is trying to maintain peace and has taken help from Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and Grogu. The film is directed by Jon Favreau and features music by Ludwig Goransson.

The film will release in theatres on 22nd May 2026 in English and Hindi, including screenings in IMAX.

Top Gun Returns To Theatres After 40 Years

0

To celebrate 40 years of the iconic film Top Gun, Paramount Pictures has released a new behind the scenes featurette. The video includes actor and producer Tom Cruise along with cast members like Glen Powell, Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly. They talk about the impact of the films and why audiences continue to enjoy them even today.

Both Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick will return to theatres on 15 May 2026 for a limited run of one week. The original film follows a group of skilled Navy pilots who train at an elite school called Top Gun. These pilots compete with each other and push their limits to become the best. Tom Cruise plays Pete Maverick Mitchell, a confident and talented pilot who became a defining character for many viewers.

The 1986 film was directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. It also featured actors like Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Tom Skerritt.

The sequel, Top Gun Maverick, continues the story after more than thirty years. Maverick is still serving as a top aviator but avoids promotions that would keep him on the ground. He is assigned to train a new group of pilots for a very difficult mission. During this time, he meets Lt Bradley Bradshaw, also known as Rooster, who is the son of his late friend Goose. The story shows Maverick dealing with his past while preparing the team for a dangerous mission.

The sequel is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer along with Tom Cruise and others. The cast includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell and several others.

Both films will be re released in Indian cinemas on 15 May 2026 for one week, giving audiences a chance to watch them again on the big screen.

Dacoit A Love Story Ends Box Office Run On A Low Note

Dacoit A Love Story has completed its theatrical run in India with a total collection of Rs. 41.25 crore gross. The film, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, was expected to perform better but ended up with disappointing numbers at the box office. It is considered an underperformer based on its overall performance and expectations.

The film earned most of its money from the Telugu states, where it collected around Rs. 28 crore. Out of this, the Nizam region contributed about Rs. 15.50 crore, while Andhra brought in around Rs. 11 crore. The Ceeded region added a smaller share of approximately Rs. 1.50 crore. Outside the Telugu markets, the film collected around Rs. 8.50 crore from North India and Rs. 4.25 crore from Karnataka. Other regions across India contributed about Rs. 0.50 crore to the total.

Despite having a strong cast and a mix of action and drama, the film received an average response from the audience. This response played a major role in limiting its growth at the box office. Films that get positive word of mouth usually see better collections over time, especially during weekends. In this case, the film was unable to build that momentum, which affected its overall earnings.

The movie also features actors like Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla. With such a lineup, expectations were higher, but the film could not fully meet them during its theatrical run.

Now, the film is set to release on a digital platform this weekend. Its performance on streaming will be closely watched. Sometimes, films that do not perform well in theatres find a better response online. It remains to be seen whether Dacoit A Love Story will be able to connect with a wider audience in its digital release.

Box office collections in India are as follows
AP TS Rs. 28 crore
Nizam Rs. 15.50 crore
Ceeded Rs. 1.50 crore
Andhra Rs. 11 crore
Karnataka Rs. 4.25 crore
North India Rs. 8.50 crore
Rest Of India Rs. 0.50 crore

Total Rs. 41.25 crore

Raja Shivaji Box Office Shock After Tuesday Drop

Raja Shivaji collected around Rs. 5.50 crore on Tuesday at the Indian box office. This was a drop of about 15 per cent compared to Monday. The decline mainly came from the Marathi version, which fell by more than 20 per cent. At the same time, the Hindi version actually grew by around 10 per cent. This growth happened because of the Tuesday discount that was available in many places. However, the film did not offer this discount in Maharashtra, so there was no sudden increase in collections there. Because of this, the overall drop on Tuesday was expected and normal.

The film, starring Riteish Deshmukh, has crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark within five days. Its total collection stands at Rs. 52.25 crore gross, which is about Rs. 43 crore nett. This makes Raja Shivaji the fastest earning film from the Marathi film industry so far. Out of the total, around Rs. 35.75 crore gross has come from the Marathi version, while the Hindi version has contributed about Rs. 16.75 crore gross.

The film is expected to finish its first week with around Rs. 60 crore. After a strong performance on Monday, it seemed like reaching Rs. 100 crore would be easy. Now, it still looks possible, but it may not be as smooth if weekday drops continue like Tuesday. The film needs to hold steady in the coming days and then show growth again during the second weekend.

If Raja Shivaji reaches Rs. 100 crore, it will become the highest grossing Marathi film ever. There is a strong history of films based on Maratha Empire figures doing well, especially in Maharashtra. Films like Tanhaji and Chhaava performed very strongly over time. How far Raja Shivaji goes will depend on how it performs in the second and third weeks.

Box office collection so far
Friday Rs. 13.25 cr.
Saturday Rs. 12.25 cr.
Sunday Rs. 14.75 cr.
Monday Rs. 6.50 cr.
Tuesday Rs. 5.50 cr.

Total Rs. 52.25 cr.

The Sheep Detectives Movie Review | A Story with Heart

0

The Sheep Detectives is a film that feels simple on the surface but slowly reveals a lot of warmth and heart as it unfolds. Set on a quiet farm in the English countryside, the story follows shepherd George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), who spends his days reading murder mystery novels to his flock of sheep, pretending that they understand every word. This gentle and slightly unusual habit becomes the foundation of a story that grows into something far more meaningful.

Based on the novel Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann, the film builds its world with care, allowing the sheep to feel like real (humanised) characters rather than just animals used for humour. Each sheep has its own personality, its own way of reacting, and its own place within the flock. The director presents them in a way that makes them feel almost human yet never takes away their natural charm. Even small details, like the presence of different kinds of sheep with distinct traits, add to the richness of the storytelling.

At the heart of the film is George himself, a man living a life of solitude but never truly alone. His bond with the sheep is warm and comforting, and his nightly readings quietly shape the way the story moves forward. This connection becomes even more important when one morning, the sheep find him lying still. What begins as confusion slowly turns into the realization that he is ‘dead’. The film handles this moment with softness, allowing the emotion to settle before moving ahead.

From this point, the sheep begin to believe that George has not simply died but has been murdered. Using the knowledge they have gathered from the stories he read to them, they attempt to solve the mystery in their own way. Their understanding of the human world is limited, but their effort to make sense of it creates a narrative that is both engaging and gently amusing.

The story moves forward in a smooth and easy manner, making it especially enjoyable for younger audiences. At the same time, there is a quiet layer about loss, companionship, and understanding that gives the film emotional depth. The mystery itself is simple, but it works as a thread that keeps the story moving while the real focus remains on the bond between George and his flock.

Hugh Jackman brings a soft and kind presence to George, making him instantly likable and memorable. The rest of the cast supports the story as needed, but it is the connection between the shepherd and his sheep that stays with you the most.

Overall, The Sheep Detectives is a gentle and lovable film that feels honest in its storytelling. It plays out like a story children would enjoy yet carries enough emotion to connect with anyone. It is easy to watch, easy to feel, and leaves behind a quiet sense of warmth. It chooses sincerity over spectacle and tells its story with heart.
