Yami Gautam Shares How Family Support Helps Her Balance Work And Motherhood

0

Actor Yami Gautam recently spoke about how she balances her professional life with motherhood. She shared that having a strong support system at home has made it possible for her to continue working after becoming a parent. She credited her parents for helping take care of her young son, Vedavid, especially when both she and her husband, Aditya Dhar, are busy with their work.

In a recent interview, she explained, “It’s because of the support system I have; it would have been difficult otherwise. We need help, there’s no denial in that, but we must acknowledge it, and when that help is given, there’s nobody else than your own family. I’m very grateful to my mother because that’s how I can do what I do.” She highlighted that managing both roles is not easy without reliable support at home.

Talking about parenting responsibilities, she said, “With a baby so young, even a set is not the right place, perhaps for a child. It’s literally your heart outside your body, and who do you trust with your heart when both parents are working? Right now, I’m working, and Aditya’s just had both the releases, so now he can be with Vedavid.” She pointed out that both parents take turns depending on their work schedules.

She also added, “Of course, our families are there, so we figure this out together. You can’t fully plan this, you have to go with the flow, keeping in mind that the biggest priority in life forever will be your child, your parents and your family.” Her comments reflect a practical approach to managing work and family life.

During the same conversation, she addressed whether success has changed her or her husband. Referring to the response to Dhurandhar, she said, “Nothing has changed us as people. That also comes from Aditya, and the kind of person he is, very unaffected and extremely humble. I’ve seen him through different phases.” She further shared, “There are highs and lows and vulnerable phases, but it’s not like during that phase we expressed our frustration or let it out. Both of us are extremely thankful to God, for us spirituality is very important, we believe in the Almighty. Good things happen to good people. What’s meant for you may be delayed but never denied.”

On the work front, Yami Gautam will next be seen in Nayyi Navelli, a horror comedy film that is expected to release in theatres before streaming later on Prime Video.

Raja Shivaji Movie Review | The Maratha Pride

0

Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, is a large-scale historical film that presents the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a simplified cinematic manner rather than as a detailed historical documentary. Right at the start, the film clearly states that it is “kalpanik”, meaning fictional, and that cinematic liberties have been taken. This sets the tone well, preparing the audience for a version of history that is selective and presented in episodic chapters instead of a complete factual retelling.

The narrative begins even before the birth of Shivaji Maharaj (Riteish Deshmukh), and gradually moves through his early years, finally leading up to the well-known encounter with Afzal Khan (Sanjay Dutt). As the story unfolds, it builds the political landscape of the time through key figures such as Shahaji Raje Bhosale (Sachin Khedekar), a powerful leader navigating between the Mughal Empire, the Adilshahi Sultanate, and the Nizamshahi Sultanate. Characters like Khadija Sultana, also known as Badi Begum (Vidya Balan), and Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (Fardeen Khan), help establish the political environment in a way that is easy to follow. Amole Gupte as Mohammed Adil Shah adds brief comic relief in between intense portions and fits the role well.

The film then brings in the personal side of Shivaji’s life through Shivaji’s elder brother Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale (Abhishek Bachchan) though in a limited shared screen time. While these moments aim to create emotional depth, they fall slightly short of delivering the intended impact. Bhagyashree plays Jijabai, Shivaji’s mother, and though her presence is not extensive, she remains an important emotional anchor throughout the narrative.

Towards the end, the film introduces a surprise element with Salman Khan appearing as Jiva Mahala, Shivaji’s bodyguard. However, instead of adding weight to the moment, his entry unexpectedly draws laughter, even during a crucial sequence where he saves Shivaji from an attack. It comes across as a slightly forced inclusion of star power in a story that already revolves around a real-life hero who does not need such embellishment.

From a filmmaking point of view, the ambition to create grandeur is clearly visible. The scale is big, but the CG (computer graphics) and VFX (visual effects) do not always match that vision and can feel inconsistent in places. Even then, audiences who are emotionally invested in the story may overlook these flaws. The action sequences are often stretched with slow-motion shots to enhance heroism, but this approach feels unnecessary since Shivaji Maharaj is already a real hero. A stronger focus on his political intelligence and strategic warfare might have made the storytelling more impactful.

One of the strongest aspects of the film is its music by Ajay-Atul. In several scenes, the music carries the emotion and adds depth to the visuals. The songs and background score feel deeply patriotic and rooted in Maratha pride. There are also impactful dialogues, though they might have resonated even more strongly in the original Marathi version.

Riteish Deshmukh makes a sincere effort to portray Shivaji Maharaj with dignity and seriousness, stepping away from his usual screen image. Genelia D’Souza, playing Sai, Shivaji’s wife, adds warmth and emotional balance whenever she appears on screen.

Overall, the film attempts to strike a balance between being a mass entertainer and a historical narrative, but it does not always explore the depth of Shivaji Maharaj’s strategic brilliance. For viewers with limited knowledge of history, it might be difficult to judge how complete or accurate the depiction is, as the film clearly focuses on selected moments presented in a dramatic way.

In the end, Raja Shivaji works as a visual and emotional experience that celebrates an important historical figure. It may not fully satisfy every viewer, but for those who enjoy watching historical dramas on the big screen, it stands as a one-time watch.

The Mummy Continues Steady Run In India With Rs. 29 Crore In Two Weeks

The horror film The Mummy, directed by Lee Cronin, is showing a stable trend at the Indian box office. On its second Thursday, which was Day 14, the film added around Rs. 0.90 crore. This reflects a drop of nearly 10 per cent compared to Wednesday. When compared to its first Thursday, the drop stands at around 44 per cent, which is considered a normal decline in the second week.

After completing two weeks in theatres, the film has collected a total of Rs. 29 crore gross in India. The first week saw stronger numbers, starting with Rs. 2.00 crore on Friday and rising to Rs. 4.00 crore on Sunday. Weekday collections then settled between Rs. 1.60 crore and Rs. 2.35 crore. In the second week, the film showed a predictable drop but still maintained steady earnings, with weekend numbers again improving before slowing down during weekdays.

Looking ahead, the film is expected to see some growth during its third weekend, as weekend footfall usually increases. However, its pace may be affected by the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which could draw audience attention. Based on current trends, the film is likely to finish its run in the range of Rs. 35 crore to Rs. 40 crore gross in India.

The film has performed particularly well in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu, where it has collected around Rs. 10 crore so far. This makes it one of the stronger markets for the film. It has already emerged as a successful Hollywood release in India, following the performance of Project Hail Mary. Another film, Michael, is also expected to reach similar success.

It is worth noting that while this film is not connected to the earlier Mummy series, the title has recognition among Indian audiences. The earlier films, including The Mummy, its 2001 sequel, and the 2008 release, had strong box office performances in India. Adjusted to current value, their earnings are estimated to be around Rs. 200 crore, which shows the long standing popularity of the title among viewers.

Bhooth Bangla Holds Strong In Second Week At Indian Box Office

The Hindi film Bhooth Bangla collected Rs. 3.25 crore nett approx on its second Thursday. With this, it finished its second week at just over Rs. 41 crore nett. The drop from the first week, excluding previews, stands at 46 per cent, which is considered a healthy trend at the Indian box office. A drop below 50 per cent usually indicates that a film is holding well after its opening week.

There was also a noticeable jump in collections on Wednesday, with a 20 per cent increase compared to the previous day. This rise is linked to the upcoming Friday holiday, which helped boost evening and night show attendance. The total collection after two weeks now stands at Rs. 121.75 crore nett approx.

The film is currently classified as a HIT and is moving towards a lifetime total of around Rs. 150 crore nett. However, the performance in the coming weekend will play an important role in confirming how easily it reaches that mark. The Friday holiday is expected to support collections, especially in the early part of the third week.

In terms of competition, the third week does not see major releases from Hindi cinema. The main challenge comes from Raja Shivaji in Maharashtra. This region has been one of the stronger markets for Bhooth Bangla, but the number of shows there has dropped to around 30 per cent compared to last week. In other regions, the film has retained about 55 to 60 per cent of its previous screen count.

For Akshay Kumar, this film marks an important point in his recent box office journey. After the pandemic, he has faced several underperforming releases. Last year showed some improvement with three films doing reasonably well, but none reached HIT status. With Bhooth Bangla, he now has a confirmed HIT.

The industry often benefits when actors like Akshay Kumar deliver steady releases. While he may not always produce very high grossing films, having two or three successful films in a year helps maintain regular audience turnout in theatres. Compared to others, including Ajay Devgn, his consistent output plays a role in keeping the box office active.

Actor Evelyn Sharma has confirmed that she and her husband Tushaan Bhindi are separating after five years of marriage. She shared that while they are ending their relationship as a couple, they will continue to raise their children together and maintain a respectful bond.

The couple got married in 2021 in a small ceremony held in Brisbane, Australia, where Tushaan Bhindi works as a surgeon. Their relationship began in 2018 after they met through a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. A year later, he proposed during a yacht outing near the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and they got engaged soon after.

Over the years, they shared parts of their life together on social media. In 2020, they adopted a puppy named Coco. They welcomed their daughter, Ava Rania Bhindi, in 2021, followed by their son, Arden, in 2023.

In an earlier interview, Evelyn had spoken about their cross cultural relationship. She said, “My husband is, technically Gujarati, he’s from Sydney, Australia. I’m Punjabi German but I feel more Indian than him as I lived in India for 10 years. I’ve travelled so much that I’ve seen so many cultures. In her note, she explained that the scars are a reminder of her journey. “My scars tell the story of my survival. Every single one is a reminder that I fought, I survived and I conquered,” she wrote. She also added, “Breast cancer left its mark, but it could never touch my spirit. To every woman dimming her light, please rise. You are so beautiful and your scars are not blemishes, they are your crown of courage.”

She further shared her thoughts on returning to normal life and work. “Today, I stand tall for my film promotions with love in my heart and courage in my soul. Here’s to living life to the fullest.” Her post received strong reactions online, with many people appreciating her openness. Actor Dia Mirza commented, “You GO Girl,” while Amruta Khanvilkar reacted with heart emojis. Many fans also shared supportive messages, calling her inspiring.

Earlier, on March 4, she had shared details about her diagnosis. Now it’s time you all know. We fortunately caught this early in a routine check-up which gave us a fighting chance. Tons of tests and surgery felt like a rollercoaster ride, but trust me, it was everyone’s love and warmth that carried me through. And seeing my Aai and Papa’s faces after surgery melted my fears into unbreakable strength. With everyone’s support, I feel I am ready to take on the world.”

Rajshri Deshpande began her film career with a small role in Talaash and later appeared in projects like Sacred Games, Angry Indian Goddesses, and Trial By Fire. She was most recently seen in Thug Life.

Sidharth Malhotra And Kiara Advani Vacation Moments Go Viral Online

Actor Sidharth Malhotra recently shared a series of photos and videos from his beach vacation on social media. The post included relaxed and candid moments, giving fans a closer look at his time away from work. The highlight for many was the appearance of his wife, Kiara Advani, which added a personal touch to the update.

The photos showed simple vacation moments, including scenic views and casual time spent together. Fans quickly reacted online, sharing comments and emojis. One fan wrote, “You just gave us the 2020 Sidharth Malhotra in 11 slides. Thank you.” Another commented, “Can’t remember when Sid post this much videos & pics at a time on insta.” The couple also shared glimpses of their travel, including a seaplane ride to the resort and a spread of food that included croissants and desserts.

A brief moment in one of the clips also showed Sidharth spending time with his baby girl. Her face was not visible, but the short clip still caught attention online. Around the same time, Sidharth shared another post hinting at a project with Kiara Advani. In the image, both were seen from behind in casual outfits. He captioned it, “Guess who I am shooting with?” The post quickly gained attention from fans.

On the work front, Kiara Advani is set to appear in the film Toxic alongside Yash. Director Geetu Mohandas spoke about casting her and said, “Nadia embodies fragility and ferocity at once, so from the very beginning, she was my first and only choice. There is something about her screen presence that feels deeply human. Sometimes cinema begins not with logic, but with a feeling, and casting Kiara was exactly that kind of feeling.”

Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra will be seen with Tamannaah Bhatia in the film Vvan. The film was earlier planned for release on May 15 but has now been postponed. It is scheduled to release on August 28, which coincides with Raksha Bandhan. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the update, stating, “EKTAA R KAPOOR – TVF JOIN FORCES: SIDHARTH MALHOTRA – TAMANNAAH BHATIA STARRER ‘VVAN’ RELEASE DATE LOCKED… 28 Aug 2026 [#RakshaBandhan] is the release date of #Vvan, a folklore-driven thriller. Stars #SidharthMalhotra and #TamannaahBhatia. Produced by #BalajiMotionPictures in association with #TVF, the film is directed by #ArunabhKumar and #DeepakMishra.”

The change in release date appears to be a strategic decision, possibly to avoid a box office clash with Bhooth Bangla.

Michael Jackson Biopic Surges At Box Office In India With Strong First Week

The biographical drama based on Michael Jackson has completed its first week in Indian theatres with a total collection of Rs. 31.35 crore, including paid previews. On Day 7, the film added Rs. 3.10 crore, showing consistent performance through the weekdays after a strong weekend opening.

The movie stars Jaafar Jackson in the lead role and is directed by Antoine Fuqua. It opened with Rs. 1.70 crore in previews, followed by Rs. 4.50 crore on Friday. Collections increased over the weekend with Rs. 6.50 crore on Saturday and Rs. 7.00 crore on Sunday. After the weekend, the film maintained steady weekday numbers with Rs. 2.70 crore on Monday, Rs. 3.10 crore on Tuesday, Rs. 2.80 crore on Wednesday, and an estimated Rs. 3.10 crore on Thursday.

Based on current trends, the film is expected to cross Rs. 35 crore during its second weekend. It is also likely to move towards the Rs. 40 crore mark soon after. If the pace continues, the total lifetime collection could go beyond Rs. 60 crore in India.

The film is performing especially well in South India and Mumbai. These regions have historically shown strong interest in dance based films and performances. Michael Jackson’s popularity in India has often been linked more to his dance style than his music, which could be helping the film connect with audiences in these areas.

Industry expectations suggest that the film is close to achieving a Clean Hit status in India. If it reaches this level, it will become the third Hollywood film to do so recently, after Project Hail Mary and The Mummy.

Overall, the film’s steady earnings and regional strength indicate a positive box office journey in the coming weeks.

Priyanka Chopra Reveals She Was A ‘Dreadful’ Dancer

0

Priyanka Chopra recently spoke about her early struggles in the film industry, especially when it came to dancing. In an interview, she shared that she found it difficult to manage acting and dance performances at the same time when she had just started her career.

She said, “I was a dreadful dancer when I first started. I was not able to act and nail the choreography at the same time, plus coordinate with my co star. It was just too many things for my 19 or 20 year old brain.” She also recalled an incident while shooting in South Africa with choreographer Raju Khan. According to her, she was missing her dance marks during the shoot, which led to a tense moment on set.

Priyanka explained, “I was filming with Raju Khan in South Africa and missing my marks. He got so upset with me that he threw the mic down, saying, ‘You might come from a pageant, but learn how to dance before you become an actress. ’ He just walked away, and I was so embarrassed.” This experience, she said, made her realise the importance of improving her skills.

To work on her dancing, Priyanka started practising regularly. She shared that she trained for about six hours every day and also practised with Katrina Kaif. Over time, this consistent effort helped her become more confident and skilled as a performer. She also mentioned that she now shares a good relationship with Raju Khan.

In her career, Priyanka Chopra has performed in several popular songs such as Desi Girl and Ram Chaahe Leela, which are often remembered for their choreography and her screen presence.

Looking ahead, Priyanka Chopra is preparing to return to Indian cinema with the film Varanasi, directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The film will also feature Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. She will be playing a character named Mandakini. The project is expected to release in 2027.

Earlier, she also spoke about working in both Bollywood and Hollywood, saying, “It’s been a while that I’ve been straddling this. Almost 12 years… I’ve been straddling both industries in both worlds. It’s very exciting to me to be able to work in any language and to be able to work in two of the largest film industries in the world. I love my job and I love the medium that I’ve been given, which is arts and to tell stories and to move people.”

Priyanka Chopra Reveals Family Life With Nick Jonas And Malti Marie

Priyanka Chopra has spoken about her life as a mother and how she and Nick Jonas are raising their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas in a multicultural environment. The couple welcomed their daughter in January 2022 and have since focused on balancing their personal and professional lives while raising her.

In a recent interview, Priyanka Chopra shared how important her daughter is to her daily life. She said, “My whole existence revolves around her, what time she has to go to school… She is the best thing I’ve accomplished in my life and represents the best of Nick and me.” She also spoke about Nick Jonas being actively involved in parenting. She added, “My husband is very hands on, and even today, because I had to jump on this interview, he was the one preparing her for silly hair day at school. He did the cutest lopsided pigtails on her. Our baby is like a magnet to us, and we run to her wherever we are in the world.”

Priyanka Chopra also discussed how she manages her career along with motherhood. She explained that while she is not a diplomat, she tries to represent her culture positively through her work. She said, “I’m not a diplomat, I’m an actor, but I try to do my best and use my platform to give a good representation of my culture. I love India, and I’m very, very Indian in my choice of food and so many other things.”

At the same time, she highlighted the importance of acknowledging both sides of their family background. She said, “However, I need to have an understanding that our family is also partially American. While I try to keep my traditions alive in our day to day lives, we are in the United States. It’s actually very important for Nick and me that our daughter grows up in this multicultural way.”

She further explained how both cultures are part of their home life. “I was more familiar with American culture, so it was easier. For Nick, it was more of an introduction and an education. He loves India and respects it tremendously. He is part of my pujas and religious ceremonies. We celebrate with the same commitment and intention, be it Holi or Thanksgiving,” she said.
