The upcoming Hindi film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has undergone a release date revision and will now arrive in cinemas on June 5. The project was earlier slated for a May 22 release but has now been shifted back to its originally planned date. This change places the film immediately after the conclusion phase of the IPL season, a window often considered more stable for theatrical footfall.

The film features Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. It is directed by David Dhawan, who is known for delivering comedy driven entertainers within the mainstream Hindi film space. With this project, the director continues in a familiar genre zone, combining elements of romance and humor aimed at a wide audience base.

From a trade perspective, the date adjustment appears strategic. The May 22 slot would have placed the film in direct overlap with ongoing cricket viewership, which typically impacts box office performance, particularly for mass oriented films. By moving to June 5, the film benefits from clearer audience availability and reduced competition from non film entertainment.

The production is backed by Tips Films Ltd, with Maximillian Films UK attached as co producer. The collaboration indicates a structured production setup with potential for both domestic and overseas distribution alignment.

The repositioning of the release date suggests a calculated approach rather than a reactive shift. The June corridor has historically supported mid scale to large commercial films, especially those relying on family audiences and repeat viewing potential.

At this stage, the film remains positioned as a standard commercial entertainer within the Hindi film market. Its performance will depend on content reception, music traction, and word of mouth post release. The revised date gives it a cleaner runway, though final box office outcomes will be determined closer to release based on promotional momentum and competing titles in the same window.

In a recent conversation with India Today, he spoke openly about his fear of horror films. He said, “I want to make a horror film. I can’t watch horror films, but I want to make one. I don’t think I have ever watched a horror film with full sound. I mute it.” He also explained that even films that mix horror with comedy can make him uncomfortable. Referring to Stree, he said, “I’m someone who gets scared watching Stree. It was supposed to be a funny film, but I’m scared of that too. I’m such a coward.”

He also spoke about his experience watching The Shining. He shared, “I remember the first time I saw The Shining, I watched the climax on mute. It’s only much later recently, about a year ago that I saw it with full volume. That’s the reason why I want to make a horror film. I think it’s a very attractive genre, a very attractive form of storytelling.”

His interest in the genre comes as a surprise because most of his past work has focused on serious and socially relevant topics. His latest film, Assi, released on February 20, 2026. The film features Taapsee Pannu, Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, along with special appearances by Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Pahwa.

The story of Assi follows a lawyer played by Taapsee Pannu, who is shown fighting for justice. The film presents a serious and emotional narrative that looks at issues related to morality and responsibility. It also focuses on how such issues affect society and future generations.

While Anubhav Sinha has not announced any details about his horror project yet, his comments show that he is open to exploring new types of storytelling beyond his usual style.

Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa has been in discussion for a long time due to rumours about casting changes. The film was announced in 2021 as a road trip story featuring Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif. It was expected to be a major collaboration, but delays in production have created uncertainty about whether the original cast is still part of the project.

Farhan Akhtar has now responded to these rumours. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, he said that he prefers to be open about his projects and does not like keeping things hidden. When asked about possible recasting, he said, “There are too many rumours doing the rounds about too many things. I have always maintained that I honestly don’t like keeping any secrets when I am making a film. Every time I felt like something is ready to go, I have put it out in the world, and shared it with them. And I’ll do the same.”

He also spoke about his current mindset regarding directing films. According to him, the past few years have brought many changes, and he wants to take time before deciding his next step. He explained, “Right now, I am in a place where I really need to think about what I want to do next as a director. Because so many things have transpired in the last couple of years that I feel like I just need to catch my breath, and really just see where my heart lies with it. Once that happens, I’ll let the world know.”

Reports in December 2025 suggested that the film is still in development. According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the project faced delays mainly due to scheduling issues. Coordinating dates for all three lead actors was difficult, especially because of Priyanka Chopra’s international work commitments. However, it was reported that she has now agreed to adjust her schedule for the film.

Apart from scheduling, the makers also faced challenges in casting male actors. Farhan Akhtar, along with co writers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, were looking for three well known actors to match the female leads. This process also added to the delay.

Farhan Akhtar has indicated that the issues are now being resolved. He said, “To be honest, it was traumatic trying to get the actors’ dates. But we’ve sorted all that out. We’ll start soon.” This suggests that the film is still planned and may begin production once final arrangements are complete.
