Drishyam 3 Crosses Rs. 100 Crore But Faces A New Box Office Challenge

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 has achieved an important milestone at the Indian box office by crossing the Rs. 100 crore net mark. However, as the film moves further into its second week, collections have started slowing down, which is a common trend for most theatrical releases after a strong opening period.

According to reported box office figures, the thriller collected around Rs. 1.55 crore net on Day 13, making it the film’s lowest single day collection since its release. The movie was screened across 2,142 shows on Tuesday. With this collection, the film’s total India gross reached approximately Rs. 116.55 crore, while its India net collection stood at Rs. 100.45 crore.

Early estimates for Day 14 suggest that the film added another Rs. 0.06 crore net. This pushed the India gross collection to around Rs. 116.62 crore and the India net collection to approximately Rs. 100.51 crore.

Drishyam 3 began its theatrical journey with strong box office numbers. The film earned Rs. 15.85 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs. 11.05 crore on Day 2. Collections increased over the weekend, with the movie earning Rs. 13.70 crore on Day 3 and Rs. 13.85 crore on Day 4. By the end of its first week, the thriller had accumulated an impressive Rs. 81.95 crore.

The second weekend also delivered healthy collections. The film earned Rs. 4.30 crore on Friday, Rs. 5.10 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 5.35 crore on Sunday. However, as expected, collections began to decline during the weekdays that followed.

The film continues the story of Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, and his family. Years after the events shown in the previous films, the family appears to be living a peaceful and successful life. Georgekutty has become a film producer, and his daughters have grown up. Despite the calm appearance, memories of past events continue to cast a shadow over their lives, creating fresh tension and suspense.

What makes the film’s performance noteworthy is its ability to maintain momentum beyond the opening weekend. Typically, films see a decline in collections after Sunday, but Obsession has managed to keep attracting audiences during the weekdays. Tuesday’s earnings came very close to Sunday’s figures and even exceeded Saturday’s collection. In terms of ticket sales, Tuesday became the strongest day of the film’s run so far, surpassing Sunday.

Early booking trends for Wednesday also suggest that audience interest remains strong. Advance sales are reportedly closer to Tuesday’s levels and significantly higher than Monday’s, indicating that the film could collect around Rs. 3 crore once again. If this trend continues, the movie is expected to finish its first week with approximately Rs. 20 crore at the Indian box office.

Looking ahead, the film’s long term success will largely depend on how well it performs during its second week. However, based on its current trend, industry observers believe that reaching Rs. 50 crore is a realistic possibility.
