VIVA Music Returns to Streaming Platforms After Years

0

For an entire generation that grew up in the early 2000s, VIVA was more than just a pop act. The group became closely associated with a period when Indian pop music was beginning to establish its own identity outside film music. At a time when female representation in mainstream pop remained limited, VIVA introduced a format where each member had a distinct personality and voice, something that resonated strongly with young audiences of that era.

More than two decades after the group first emerged, much of VIVA’s catalogue had gradually become unavailable across digital and streaming platforms as music consumption shifted over the years. The group’s music is now returning to streaming services worldwide through JioStar’s youth focused music platform and label KaanPhod, along with other major audio streaming platforms.

Long before discussions around individuality, representation and identity became common within popular culture conversations, VIVA had already positioned itself as a group that reflected those ideas. As India’s first all girl pop band, the group played a role in expanding the visibility of female led music within the mainstream pop space.

Speaking about the group’s legacy, Anushka Manchanda said, “VIVA represents a powerful moment in time that laid the foundation for us to be strong, independent women. We are humbled and grateful for the love we have continued to receive over the last two decades, and so this moment feels all the more magical as it comes together!”

Neha Bhasin added, “VIVA was never just a band, it became a feeling, a memory and an entire era for us and for a generation that grew up with our music. As India’s first pop girl band, we shared something truly special together and that connection has stayed alive over the years through the incredible love of our audiences. I’m so happy that the songs and videos which defined so many millennial memories will now finally be available for newer generations to discover, experience and enjoy as well.”

Reflecting on the emotional connection attached to the group’s music, Pratichee Mohapatra said, “VIVA feels inseparable from who I am, almost like an extension of my own name. It was where my musical journey truly began, shaping me not just as an artist but as a person. It holds some of my happiest memories, deepest friendships and biggest milestones. Seeing the music return after all these years feels emotional, nostalgic and a little surreal. There’s something beautiful about knowing these songs will now become part of the lives of both old listeners and an entirely new generation.”

Mahua Kamat also shared, “The music of VIVA is finally returning to where it has always belonged with the listeners who have carried these songs in their hearts for all these years. The love and support we’ve continued to receive across generations has been truly overwhelming, and it means so much to know that fans everywhere can now stream, rediscover and celebrate these songs all over again.”

The return of VIVA’s music comes at a time when early 2000s Indian pop culture is witnessing renewed interest among younger listeners. For many audiences who grew up during that period, the group represented confidence, individuality and a form of modern femininity that was still relatively uncommon within mainstream Indian music at the time.

Imtiaz Ali Reveals What Happened To Naseeruddin Shah During Shoot

0

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah reportedly went through a physically and emotionally demanding experience while shooting for Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film also stars Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh, and Vedang Raina in important roles.

In the film, Naseeruddin Shah plays a bedridden patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. According to Imtiaz Ali, the role was extremely challenging because the actor had to remain in bed for most of the film and go through a long transformation process every day before shooting.

Speaking to NDTV, Imtiaz Ali said, “One thing which was very challenging is the fact that Naseer, such a profound actor, had to be bedridden for almost the entire film.” He explained that the actor spent nearly 3 hours every day getting ready for the role because he was portraying a character much older and medically weaker than himself.

The filmmaker also shared details about the makeup and preparation process. “He would come and take three hours to get ready because he’s playing older than his age,” Imtiaz said. “There were all of these things that would be stuck to his body because he’s a patient — the ECG leads would be stuck to his chest, and his hair would have to be shaved off.”

As filming continued, the emotional pressure of playing a patient with memory loss reportedly began affecting Shah even during the shoot. Imtiaz Ali revealed that the actor sometimes forgot lines and scenes while performing because he had become deeply involved in the role. “It is very tough when you have to half remember and half forget,” he explained.

The director further added, “Because he’s playing a patient of Alzheimer’s and dementia, he was actually forgetting lines and forgetting which scene it was.” He also spoke about how actors sometimes absorb the emotional state of the characters they play. “When actors actually do a part, they start becoming like that part because there’s no way to act other than actually taking that onto yourself,” Imtiaz said. “Naseer, of course, is a seasoned actor. So his memory was swimming all around when he was shooting.”

Imtiaz Ali also admitted that the difficult role occasionally made Naseeruddin Shah irritable on set, but he understood that it came from the emotional investment required for such a demanding performance. “That was a bit tough, and he was getting irritable. I knew that he would be, because when you do something honestly, then you invest emotionally in it,” he said.

Celina Jaitly Breaks Silence on Abuse and Loneliness After Twisha Sharma Death Case

0

Actor Celina Jaitly has shared an emotional message after the shocking death of Twisha Sharma, a case that has deeply disturbed people across the country. Twisha, a 33 year old woman from Bhopal, was found dead at her home earlier this month. Her family has accused her husband and mother in law of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide. The case has sparked nationwide discussions about emotional abuse, domestic violence, and the silent suffering many women face behind closed doors.

Reacting to the tragedy, Celina took to Instagram and spoke not only about Twisha’s case but also about her own painful experiences in marriage. The actor said people often believe marriage automatically brings happiness, but reality can sometimes be very different. She explained that abuse is not always physical and visible. According to her, emotional pain, isolation, humiliation, and loneliness can slowly destroy a person from the inside while the outside world continues to believe everything is normal.

In her emotional post, Celina wrote that many women suffer silently because they feel trapped and helpless. She explained how isolation becomes deeper over time, especially when someone is living away from family and support systems. Celina said that in her own situation, both her parents had already passed away, she was no longer financially independent, and she also had three small children to care for. Because of this, she continued staying in the marriage longer than she should have, hoping to keep the family together and protect her children from pain.

The actor admitted that loneliness can slowly make a person question their own reality. She said many women start believing that merely surviving is the same as living. Celina also urged parents and families to support daughters and women who reach out for help. She requested families not to ignore signs of abuse or emotional suffering.

Celina is currently involved in a legal battle with her husband, Austrian hotelier Peter Haag. Last year, she filed a case accusing him of domestic violence, cruelty, and manipulation, and reportedly sought compensation of ₹50 crore. She has also spoken publicly about the pain of being separated from her children, Winston and Viraaj, despite court arrangements regarding custody and communication.

Meanwhile, Twisha Sharma’s final rites were performed 12 days after her death following a second postmortem ordered by the high court and conducted by doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi. The case continues to remain under investigation.

Ever since actor turned politician Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, people across social media have been comparing his political journey with that of Pawan Kalyan, who is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, created a major political upset by defeating long established parties in its very first election contest.

Speaking at a recent public event, Pawan Kalyan praised Vijay and admitted that he felt slightly jealous seeing how smoothly TVK managed its campaign and victory. Speaking humorously, he said Tamil Nadu politics looked very carefree compared to his own difficult political journey. He joked that Vijay’s party won happily using cutouts and holograms, while he himself spent nearly 15 years struggling on the streets to build his political career.

However, Pawan later turned serious and explained that running a political party is not easy. He said a leader must understand the expectations and emotions of lakhs of people before speaking or making decisions. According to him, politics requires patience, experience, and deep understanding of society, which is why his own journey took many years.

At the same time, veteran Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi also congratulated Vijay on becoming the Chief Minister. Chiranjeevi’s team released a statement revealing that the two actors recently had a warm and friendly phone conversation. During the call, Chiranjeevi wished Vijay success in his new role and expressed hope that he would remain close to the hearts of Tamil Nadu’s people through people focused governance. He also compared Vijay’s popularity to legendary actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran.

The statement further revealed that Vijay had recently watched Chiranjeevi’s latest film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and was happy to see him back onscreen. Vijay also thanked Chiranjeevi for supporting him during the piracy controversy surrounding his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. Vijay additionally wished Chiranjeevi success for his next film being produced by KVN Productions.

Vijay launched TVK only two years before the elections, but the party managed to defeat powerful rivals like Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. With this historic victory, Vijay has now joined the list of iconic actor turned political leaders such as N. T. Rama Rao, M. G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa.

Ananya Panday’s Chand Mera Dil Struggles at Box Office as Dance Scene Faces Heavy Trolls

Chand Mera Dil starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday released in theatres on Friday but has had a slow start at the box office. The romantic drama received mixed reactions from both critics and audiences, and the film has struggled to show strong growth over its opening weekend. On Monday, the movie witnessed a major drop in collections, raising doubts about its long term performance in theatres.

According to the latest reports from Sacnilk, the film earned around ₹2.25 crore on its first Monday, which was its fourth day in theatres. This is a noticeable fall compared to Sunday’s collection of ₹4.25 crore, which remains the film’s highest single day earnings so far. On its opening day, the movie collected ₹3 crore. With this, the film’s total India gross collection has reached ₹15.76 crore, while the India net collection currently stands at ₹13.25 crore.

Backed by Dharma Productions and directed by Vivek Soni, the film tells the story of a young couple who meet during their college days in Hyderabad and fall in love. Their relationship takes a serious turn when they face an unplanned pregnancy. The female lead decides to keep the baby, and the couple eventually gets married. However, after marriage, they begin struggling with emotional pressure, frustration, and constant arguments. One heated fight turns violent, becoming the main conflict of the story.

Apart from the film’s box office performance, social media has also been buzzing about one particular scene featuring Ananya Panday performing a Bharatanatyam fusion dance. Clips from the sequence quickly went viral online, but many viewers reacted negatively. Well known dancer and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award winner Anita R Ratnam strongly criticised the performance on X. She said watching the dance felt like Bharatanatyam was being misunderstood and poorly presented onscreen.

However, not everyone agreed with the criticism. Ananya R Kurup, who worked as the assistant choreographer for the dance sequence, defended Ananya’s performance. Sharing a behind the scenes video, she praised the actress for her hard work and said Ananya performed the dance beautifully in the film. Ananya also reacted warmly to the post by replying with heart emojis, showing appreciation for the support amid the online debate.

Actor Arjun Sarja recently spoke about his meeting with actor turned politician Vijay during the promotions of his upcoming Tamil Telugu film Blast Zone in Hyderabad. The actor shared an interesting conversation he had with Vijay after he became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and revealed that Vijay had also seen the many memes comparing his political journey to the classic film Mudhalvan.

Directed by S. Shankar, Mudhalvan was first offered to Vijay in the late 1990s. At that time, Vijay was still very young and reportedly decided not to take up the project. The role later went to Arjun Sarja, and the film became one of the biggest hits of his career. In the movie, Arjun played a journalist who becomes the chief minister for a single day and fights corruption in the system. Over the years, the film became iconic, especially after Vijay entered politics and eventually became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Fans on social media started sharing memes calling him the “real life Mudhalvan” because he achieved in real life what he once rejected in cinema.

Speaking about their recent meeting, Arjun said Vijay himself brought up those memes during their conversation. According to Arjun, Vijay told him that when he first sat in the chief minister’s chair, he immediately remembered the story of Mudhalvan and the scenes from the film. Arjun said he felt proud seeing someone from the film industry rise to such an important political position. He added that becoming chief minister in the very first election contest is a huge achievement.

Arjun and Vijay had earlier worked together in Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, where they played brothers. After meeting Vijay recently, Arjun even shared pictures on Instagram and wished him strength and good health as he handles the responsibilities of leading the state.

When reporters asked Arjun if he also plans to join politics, he gave a humorous reply, saying people probably do not want him to stay happy. Later, he explained seriously that politics today is very different and requires a strong inner drive, money, and massive public support. Arjun admitted that he does not think he has the same level of popularity and influence that Vijay currently enjoys.

After 45 Films, David Dhawan Hints at Retirement and Talks About Bollywood’s New Restrictions

0

Veteran filmmaker David Dhawan recently spoke openly about how comedy films in Bollywood have changed over the years. Known for delivering some of Hindi cinema’s biggest comedy hits like Judwaa, Coolie No. 1, Raja Babu, and Partner, the director said that filmmakers today have to work under many restrictions, especially while making comedy movies.

David made these comments during a special conversation with his son, actor Varun Dhawan, at the launch of the David Dhawan Film Festival organised by PVR INOX. During the discussion, the veteran director explained that comedy today is very different from the 1990s, the period when many of his blockbuster films were released.

Talking about censorship and changing audience expectations, David said filmmakers can no longer portray women in a disrespectful manner onscreen. He shared that if such scenes are included in films today, the censor board immediately raises objections and sends detailed notices regarding restrictions. Because of this, he has become more careful and sensitive while writing and directing female characters. However, he jokingly added that he can still do almost anything with male characters in comedy films.

David Dhawan started his film journey as an editor in Saaransh, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. He later became a director with Taaqatwar. Although his early films did not perform well at the box office, he finally found success with Shola Aur Shabnam. After that, he became one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy directors with films like Hero No. 1 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

After directing 45 films over a career spanning nearly four decades, David admitted that age and health have started slowing him down. He said he still enjoys making films and believes he can direct several more movies, but he also wants to focus on his health and spend more time with family. Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar hinted that David may retire after his upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, and is scheduled to release in theatres on June 5.
