Krishnavataram Part 1 Shows Steady Hold But Box Office Growth Remains Slow

Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart continued its theatrical run with stable collections during its second week. The mythological fantasy drama collected around Rs. 1.20 crore on its second Tuesday, showing a 30 per cent increase compared to the previous day.

The film also recorded only a 20 per cent drop compared to its first Tuesday collections, which is considered a decent hold at the box office. However, trade observers believe the movie needed stronger growth during its second week to comfortably achieve a clean hit status.

Starring Siddharth Gupta in the lead role, the film currently faces pressure because of its reportedly high production cost. While the movie has managed to remain steady, its present box office trend may not be enough to fully justify its budget unless collections improve in the coming weeks.

At the same time, industry analysts point out that mythological films can often be unpredictable at the box office. In recent years, several films in this genre have shown unusual growth patterns after slow starts.

One such example was Laalo Krishna Sada Sahayate, which reportedly remained unnoticed for several weeks before suddenly gaining strong audience attention later in its theatrical run.

Another example was Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated mythological film based on avatars of Lord Vishnu. The movie opened with Rs. 1.25 crore nett on its first day and later witnessed major growth over the weekend. It earned around Rs. 3.25 crore on Saturday and Rs. 6.25 crore on Sunday before eventually collecting nearly Rs. 170 crore nett in Hindi.

Because of similar past trends, trade experts believe it is still too early to completely rule out the possibility of Krishnavataram Part 1 gaining momentum through audience word of mouth in the coming weeks.

The detailed Hindi box office collections of the film are as follows:

Previews: Rs. 0.40 crore
Friday: Rs. 1.05 crore
Saturday: Rs. 2.15 crore
Sunday: Rs. 3.20 crore
Monday: Rs. 1.05 crore
Tuesday: Rs. 1.55 crore
Wednesday: Rs. 1.15 crore
Thursday: Rs. 1.20 crore

2nd Friday: Rs. 1.00 crore
2nd Saturday: Rs. 2.00 crore
2nd Sunday: Rs. 2.85 crore
2nd Monday: Rs. 0.80 crore
2nd Tuesday: Rs. 1.20 crore estimated

Total: Rs. 19.60 crore

The coming weeks will now decide whether the film can maintain its steady performance or witness stronger growth at the box office.

Amaal Malik claims he lost 60+ projects due to industry politics

0

Singer-composer Amaal Malik has once again stirred conversation across the Hindi film industry and among fans after posting a deeply personal note on Instagram, alleging systematic exclusion from projects over the last several years. In a candid statement addressed directly to his fanbase, whom he calls “AMAALIANS,” the composer claimed that “powerful positions” and industry politics have cost him more than 60 projects since 2019. The revelation has triggered fresh debate around gatekeeping, creative camps, and the increasingly visible divide between mainstream film music and the independent music ecosystem.

The post reads:

“My Dear AMAALIANS, 2019 to 2026, the big boys in powerful positions have got me out of more than 60 odd projects. 20 films toh maine khud hi mana kar diye, as it was beneath me to work in those setups. The musician in me wouldn’t be able to respect himself. I still did my bit and will always do my best to put music and shoot videos whenever possible for my fans, with or without the movies. No regrets at all, it’s their loss :)”

Amaal further acknowledged the impact this has had on listeners who have often questioned why his output in mainstream cinema has reduced in recent years.

“But somehow it becomes a loss to my listeners & fans, and I’m sorry for that, but I need to make it clear to all of you. I’m trying my best for the last 8 years, with utmost sincerity & obviously some respectful terms & conditions of working, but sadly it doesn’t work for this place.”

The composer also hinted at deeper industry power structures, claiming the resistance against him goes beyond music labels.

“There are some very powerful sets of people that don’t want me to be part of their films or any film, for a matter of fact, and it’s not just LABELS, it’s beyond that, NOW, it’s a mixed syndicate of egoistic humans.”

While he stopped short of naming individuals or banners, Amaal’s remarks are likely to reignite conversations around lobbying and factionalism within Bollywood’s music and film business. Trade circles have long discussed how composer-director-actor camps influence soundtrack deals, especially in an era where streaming numbers, social media visibility, and label alliances increasingly shape opportunities.

Interestingly, Amaal framed his stance less as a professional complaint and more as an artistic refusal to compromise. He suggested that some projects did not align with his creative self-respect, even admitting he voluntarily stepped away from around 20 films.

The most pointed section of his note came when addressing industry politics and nepotism, subjects that continue to remain sensitive talking points in Hindi cinema.

“All of them are playing award-worthy politics for almost 8 years now, and that’s why you hear less of my music in films. I can’t be part of a clout, a power setup, or be part of petty groupism. Even the NEPOTISM isn’t working.”

For audiences, however, the message ended on a hopeful note. Rather than positioning this as a retreat from music, Amaal used the post to push listeners toward his independent work, signalling a stronger focus on non-film music moving forward.

“SO MUJHE MAAF KARO…MERA INDIE MUSIC SUNO…IF A FILM SONG COMES GREAT, IF NOT THEN DON’T FRET.”

The statement arrives at a time when many composers and singers are increasingly balancing film assignments with independent releases, where artists enjoy greater ownership and creative freedom. For fans of Amaal Malik’s melodic style, the message is clear: even if Bollywood projects become fewer, the music is not stopping anytime soon.

Raja Shivaji Creates History As First Marathi Film To Cross Rs. 100 Crore

Raja Shivaji created box office history by entering the Rs. 100 crore club in India during its third week in theatres. The historical drama starring Riteish Deshmukh became the first Marathi film to cross the milestone in the domestic market.

The film collected around Rs. 1.50 crore on its third Tuesday, taking its total India gross collection to approximately Rs. 100.85 crore. The movie continues to perform steadily in cinemas and is expected to remain in theatres for a few more weeks.

Trade estimates currently suggest that the film could finish its overall theatrical run between Rs. 110 crore and Rs. 115 crore gross in India if it maintains stable collections in the coming days.

Before Raja Shivaji, Marathi films like Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva had come close to the Rs. 100 crore mark but were unable to cross it during their theatrical runs.

However, trade observers have pointed out a major difference between these films and Raja Shivaji. While Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva earned most of their collections from Maharashtra, Raja Shivaji has also generated significant revenue from audiences outside the state.

At the same time, the film’s Maharashtra collections are expected to remain lower than the numbers achieved by Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva within the state itself. Industry discussions also compared the film with large scale Marathi connected historical dramas like Tanhaji and Chhaava, which performed exceptionally well in Maharashtra.

Despite that, Raja Shivaji has emerged as a major commercial success and is now officially the highest grossing Marathi film at the Indian box office. The film’s performance has once again strengthened Riteish Deshmukh’s position as a strong crowd puller in Marathi cinema.

The box office collections of the film are as follows:

Week 1: Rs. 61.75 crore
Week 2: Rs. 28.00 crore

3rd Friday: Rs. 1.60 crore
3rd Saturday: Rs. 3.00 crore
3rd Sunday: Rs. 3.75 crore
3rd Monday: Rs. 1.25 crore
3rd Tuesday: Rs. 1.50 crore estimated

Total: Rs. 100.85 crore

With its record breaking run, Raja Shivaji has set a new benchmark for Marathi films in the domestic theatrical market.

Jada Pinkett Smith Awarded Thousands in Legal Battle Against Will Smith’s Former Friend

0

Jada Pinkett Smith has scored a legal victory in her ongoing courtroom battle against Bilaal Salaam, the man who claims he was once a close friend of Will Smith. According to newly obtained court documents, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge awarded Jada more than $32,000 in attorney’s fees after partially dismissing several claims brought against her. Jada originally requested nearly $49,000 in legal fees, but the judge ultimately approved a reduced amount totaling $32,836.

The lawsuit stems from allegations made by Bilaal Salaam, who claimed he suffered emotional distress due to alleged threats from Jada and people associated with her.

Salaam previously alleged that he had been friends with Will Smith for decades and was contacted by the Smith camp following the infamous 2022 Oscars incident where Will slapped Chris Rock onstage during the Academy Awards ceremony.

According to Salaam, he was allegedly asked to assist with damage control efforts after the controversy exploded worldwide.

However, he claims tensions escalated after he declined involvement and began working on a memoir that would reportedly discuss his experiences with the Smith family.

Salaam alleged that threats were made against him after the family became aware of the planned book.

Jada denied all allegations of wrongdoing and argued that Salaam failed to prove he suffered legitimate damages. Her legal team then requested attorney fees after successfully convincing the judge to dismiss portions of his case.

The latest ruling marks another chapter in the highly publicized fallout surrounding the Smith family in the years following the Oscars controversy.

While neither Will nor Jada has publicly commented in detail about the latest court development, the legal battle has continued to attract attention online due to Salaam’s repeated claims about his relationship with the couple and his plans for a tell-all memoir.

The court’s decision to award attorney fees suggests the judge sided, at least in part, with Jada’s legal arguments surrounding the dismissed claims.

The case itself, however, still remains closely watched due to its connections to one of Hollywood’s most talked-about celebrity families.

Bhooth Bangla Nears Rs. 160 Crore Mark After Strong Fifth Week Run

Bhooth Bangla continued its steady performance at the Indian box office during its fifth week. The horror comedy collected around Rs. 80 lakh on its fifth Tuesday, taking the film’s fifth week total to approximately Rs. 4.90 crore in 5 days.

With current trends, the movie is expected to finish its fifth week with collections between Rs. 5.50 crore and Rs. 6 crore. The film’s overall India nett collection now stands at Rs. 159.60 crore and it is likely to cross the Rs. 160 crore mark by the end of the day.

Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, the film has emerged as a successful performer at the box office. Trade estimates currently suggest that the movie may complete its lifetime theatrical run close to Rs. 165 crore nett in India.

The film’s performance has also once again highlighted Akshay Kumar’s consistent presence at the box office. Over the years, the actor has maintained a high number of releases compared to many leading stars in the industry. Industry discussions often point out that regular film releases from major actors help maintain audience interest in theatres.

Along with Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar remains one of the few Hindi film stars who continue to release multiple films within a year. In recent times, several actors have reduced their output, with some taking 2 or 3 years between projects. According to trade observers, this shift has also affected the overall theatrical market, which still remains heavily dependent on star driven films.

The detailed box office collections of Bhooth Bangla are as follows:

Week One: Rs. 80.25 crore
Week Two: Rs. 40.75 crore
Week Three: Rs. 21.00 crore
Week Four: Rs. 12.25 crore

5th Friday: Rs. 0.65 crore
5th Saturday: Rs. 1.20 crore
5th Sunday: Rs. 1.70 crore
5th Monday: Rs. 0.55 crore
5th Tuesday: Rs. 0.80 crore estimated

Total: Rs. 159.60 crore

The film is also being compared with the lifetime collections of Housefull 5 as it moves towards the final phase of its theatrical run. Despite slowing down in later weeks, Bhooth Bangla has maintained stable collections and has managed to secure a successful box office verdict.

Karuppu Becomes Suriya’s Highest Grossing Film In India After 13 Years

Karuppu has emerged as the highest grossing film of Suriya’s career in India. The film collected around Rs. 108.50 crore gross within its first 5 days of release, surpassing the actor’s long standing record held by Singam 2.

Released in 2013, Singam 2 had finished its India run with around Rs. 96 crore gross. The record remained unbeaten for nearly 13 years until Karuppu crossed the figure in less than a week.

Trade experts believe the film is far from slowing down and may comfortably finish above Rs. 200 crore gross by the end of its theatrical run. If that happens, the film will earn more than double the collections of Suriya’s previous highest grosser.

Suriya enjoyed one of the strongest phases of his career during the late 2000s and early 2010s. During that period, the actor delivered several successful films including Ayan, Singam, 7 Aum Arivu and Singam 2. According to trade discussions, many of these films would have crossed much higher figures if adjusted for today’s ticket prices and inflation.

However, after that successful period, the actor went through a long phase where his films struggled to match the commercial performance of his earlier hits. Despite the growth of the Tamil film market over the years, several of his releases could not surpass the collections of movies released more than a decade ago.

With Karuppu, Suriya has finally ended that dry phase and delivered a major box office comeback. The timing of the film’s success is also considered important for the Tamil film industry. In recent times, Vijay has stepped away from films to focus on politics, while Rajinikanth has reduced his workload due to age and Ajith Kumar has also been selective with projects.

The highest grossing films of Suriya in India are currently:

  1. Karuppu (2026) – Rs. 108.50 crore in 5 days
  2. Singam 2 (2013) – Rs. 96.00 crore
  3. 7 Aum Arivu (2011) – Rs. 89.00 crore
  4. Singam 3 (2017) – Rs. 81.00 crore
  5. 24 (2016) – Rs. 75.00 crore

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Struggles At Box Office Despite Steady Tuesday Collections

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do continued its run at the Indian box office with stable collections on its first Tuesday. According to early estimates, the film earned around Rs. 3 crore to Rs. 3.25 crore on Day 5, taking its total 5 day collection to nearly Rs. 23 crore nett.

The romantic comedy drama stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rakul Preet Singh and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. Despite having a recognised franchise title and a strong cast lineup, the movie has not performed at the level many expected.

Based on its current trend, the film is likely to finish its first week with collections between Rs. 25 crore and Rs. 28 crore nett. Trade estimates currently suggest that the movie could end its overall theatrical run with earnings of around Rs. 40 crore to Rs. 50 crore nett in India.

The performance of the film also reflects the larger challenges faced by small and medium budget Hindi films in recent years. Before the pandemic, especially during 2018 and 2019, small town comedy dramas were consistently performing well in theatres. During that period, Ayushmann Khurrana delivered several successful films that opened strongly and maintained steady collections.

Industry observers believe that if Pati Patni Aur Woh Do had released during the pre pandemic period, its opening numbers may have been significantly higher. However, audience preferences and theatrical trends have changed considerably after the pandemic, making it difficult for mid scale comedy films to attract large crowds to cinemas.

The day wise collections of the movie so far are as follows:

Day 1: Rs. 3.75 crore
Day 2: Rs. 5.50 crore
Day 3: Rs. 7.75 crore
Day 4: Rs. 3.00 crore estimated
Day 5: Rs. 3 crore to Rs. 3.25 crore estimated

Total: Rs. 23 crore nett

While the film has managed to remain steady during weekdays, its overall box office performance is currently being viewed as underwhelming compared to expectations linked to the franchise and cast popularity.

Sydney Sweeney’s ‘The Housemaid’ Is Becoming a Stage Play After Massive Box Office Success

0

The Housemaid is officially getting a stage adaptation after becoming one of the biggest surprise hits of the year. Following the massive global success of the Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried thriller, Lionsgate has announced plans to turn the psychological drama into a live theater production. The film, based on the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, earned over $400 million worldwide despite having a production budget of just $35 million, making it one of Lionsgate’s most profitable recent releases.

Now the studio is expanding the franchise beyond film and books.

The stage version is being developed by British production company Melting Pot, led by producers Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska, alongside playwright Bekah Brunstetter, who previously worked on the Broadway adaptation of The Notebook.

The original story follows a young woman with a troubled past who takes a job as a live-in maid for a wealthy family, only to discover that their seemingly perfect life hides dark secrets and dangerous manipulation.

According to Lionsgate, the story’s claustrophobic setting, emotional tension and constant twists make it a natural fit for the stage.

Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate’s president of global products and experiences, said the thriller contains “all the elements for a successful stage adaptation,” including compelling characters and suspenseful storytelling.

Producer Simon Friend also explained why the team believes the story will work so well in a theatrical environment.

“When I first read The Housemaid, it was exhilarating,” Friend said. “The twisty elements naturally lend themselves to the stage.”

The stage announcement comes as Lionsgate continues expanding The Housemaid into a full franchise. A sequel film titled The Housemaid’s Secret is already in development and is expected to begin production later this year ahead of its planned December 2027 theatrical release.

The first film became a breakout success largely due to its mix of psychological suspense, campy moments and shocking jump scares that audiences loved experiencing in packed theaters.

Director Paul Feig helped turn the adaptation into a crowd-pleasing thriller that exploded online after release, especially among younger audiences already familiar with the bestselling novel.

Lionsgate has recently been leaning heavily into adapting its film properties for live audiences. The studio is also developing stage versions of La La Land, Dirty Dancing and Wonder, while a live adaptation of The Hunger Games is already running in London’s West End.

With a sequel film on the way and now a stage production in development, The Housemaid is quickly becoming one of Lionsgate’s fastest-growing modern franchises.

Tejasswi Prakash Breaks Down As Karan Kundrra Proposes On Desi Bling

0

Television couple Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash have finally taken the next step in their relationship after years of dating. Popularly known as ‘TejRan’ among fans, the couple got engaged during their recently released reality show Desi Bling, which premiered on Netflix on May 20.

The proposal took place in the final episode of the show, where Karan arranged a grand surprise for Tejasswi. Several cast members including Rizwan Sajan, Satish Sanpal, Sana Sajan and others were part of the celebration.

As Tejasswi arrived at the venue, she was surprised to see a large romantic setup along with the words “Will You Marry Me?” displayed across the water in giant letters. The actress appeared emotional after seeing the arrangement and told Karan, “I am shivering. My hands are not going to stop,” while he comforted her.

Before proposing, Karan delivered an emotional speech reflecting on their relationship journey. He said, “Jab hum mile the, toh bohot kuch hua tha… Jab hum bahar aaye, sab ne kaha tha ki yeh toh 2 hafte nahi tikenge. Kisi ne kaha tha main fake hu; kisi ne kaha tu fake hai. It’s been four years; we’ve seen everything, and we’ve been through everything.”

He further added, ‘”Imperfectly perfect love story’- yeh tune hi term diya tha. Every year that I spent with you, it has changed the meaning of love for me. I never thought I would ever fall in love or commit. I want to thank you for bringing out the man in me, the man who has the guts to say, ‘This is it. It’s now and forever.’”

Karan then went down on one knee and proposed with a large diamond ring. Soon after, the couple hugged each other while an emotional Tejasswi was seen crying.

Karan and Tejasswi first met during Bigg Boss 15 in 2021 and started dating during the show. Since then, the couple has remained one of television’s most talked about celebrity pairs.

Currently, both actors are also appearing on Laughter Chefs Season 3. Karan is paired with Elvish Yadav, while Tejasswi is paired with Arjun Bijlani on the show.

0

The teaser of Rajkumar Hirani’s first streaming series Pritam and Pedro has officially been released by the makers. The show marks Hirani’s debut in the OTT space and introduces audiences to a quirky story filled with humour, mystery and cybercrime.

The series stars Arshad Warsi and Vir Hirani, the filmmaker’s son, in the lead roles of Pedro and Pritam. The project has been created by Rajkumar Hirani and directed by Avinash Arun.

Set in Goa, the teaser gives viewers a glimpse into an unusual and chaotic world connected to cybercrime. The video introduces the central characters and hints at a storyline involving confusion, madness and mystery.

Apart from Arshad Warsi and Vir Hirani, the teaser also features Vikrant Massey in the role of Martin. Other actors appearing in the series include Boman Irani and Mona Singh.

The teaser mainly focuses on introducing the tone of the show rather than revealing major details about the plot. Several scenes in the video combine comedy with suspense, suggesting that the series will follow an unpredictable storyline.

The visuals also highlight the Goa setting, with the story appearing to move between crime, humour and confusion involving the lead characters. While the teaser does not reveal much about the complete narrative, it creates curiosity around how the characters become connected to the cybercrime world.

The series is expected to blend comedy and mystery in a style often associated with Rajkumar Hirani’s storytelling. However, this project appears to have a more experimental and fast paced approach compared to his earlier films.

The release of the teaser has already started discussions online, especially because it marks Rajkumar Hirani’s first major project made directly for streaming platforms. It also introduces Vir Hirani in a lead role alongside experienced actors like Arshad Warsi and Vikrant Massey.

Pritam and Pedro will start streaming on JioHotstar from July 3
