Anil Kapoor: Sanjay understood when said no to his film

Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta had formed a good team in Gupta’s MUSAFIR and though they never got a chance to work together again, it was a given that when a perfect opportunity would come calling, they would be reuniting for sure. This is the reason why when SHOOTOUT AT WADALA happened, Anil Kapoor was game for it. The film’s hugely controversial biopic setup further elevated his excitement.

“One thing that I am strongly maintaining is that if I am not excited about a particular film, I don’t do it. That is my present and that is the way it would be in future as well,” declares Anil Kapoor while adding, “I am extremely excited about SHOOTOUT…. from the script stage itself and today when all of us are working so hard, I can see my trust in the film paying off. It is great to be back with Sanjay.”

In that case one wonders why he waited so long to re-unite with Gupta.

“I agree that there has been a huge gap where Gupta and I haven’t been able to work together. As a matter of fact, he offered me a role earlier as well but for various reasons I couldn’t do that particular film. I explained why and he understood my reason behind saying ‘no’. Now when he is making a film after five years, it seems like he hadn’t gone away anywhere. I truly believe that he is the kind of talent, which hasn’t been seen to the fullest. SHOOTOUT AT WADALA would be a new beginning for him,” Kapoor declares.

We too look forward to that once the film hits the screen in January next year
