On the 7th of March 2025, Vijay, being the head of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), attended the prayers in the evening at the gathering, dressing up in the classical skull cap and taking the attendees for Namaz after hours of fasting.
A Day of Fasting and Spiritual Reflection
Vijay’s involvement in the Iftar celebration created a social media buzz, with many photos and videos of him praying with his Muslim friends being widely shared. Vijay was dressed in an all-white attire and a skull cap and actively participated in the religious practice, which involved fasting and prayers in accordance with Islamic practices. He also organized a grand feast for thousands of locals at the YMCA in Royapettah, Chennai, where the Iftar ceremony was held.
Massive Rally and Spiritual Leadership
The rally drew a huge crowd, with almost 3,000 people present. Imams from 15 local mosques were specially invited to offer the prayers, and the facility was arranged to have the large number of people present. Vijay’s Iftar party emphasized his determination to promote community bonding and cohesion during Ramzan.
Security Details in the Wake of Political Activities
As Thalapathy Vijay consolidates his political position with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, he has been reportedly given increased security. Based on intelligence evaluations, the Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned him a ‘Y’ scale security detail, which consists of an 8-member commando and police officer team. The added security is part of the actor-politician’s preparations for future political events, including a possible statewide roadshow before the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
Vijay is also preparing for his big farewell to cinema with his upcoming release Jana Nayagan, which has H. Vinoth as its director.
