Zayn Malik is going to drop a powerful new track looking back on racism he faced while in One Direction. The 32-year-old star, who became international famous with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and late Liam Payne, posted a teaser of the song named Fuchsia Sea on Instagram. In the excerpt, Zayn belts out the powerful line: “I worked hard in a white band / And they still laughed at the Asian,” emphasizing the struggles he encountered as a British-Pakistani musician in an otherwise white pop band.
The song shares a name with a track in Zayn’s 2024 album Room Under the Stairs, and fans are left wondering if teased version is a remake or totally new music. Zayn captioned the Instagram teaser “Zaddy’s home” and left fans anticipating more music.

Speaking Out on Past Racism
Zayn has previously opened up about the racism he endured. In a 2012 interview with The Sun, he shared, “Nasty things [were said] like I’m a terrorist… How can you justify that?” He also faced public comparisons to a terror suspect by U.S. talk show host Bill Maher, sparking outrage and a petition demanding an apology.
Emotional Return to One Direction Roots
Earlier in the year, Zayn sang One Direction’s Night Changes at a concert in Mexico City, for the first time in a decade singing the 1D hit live. Wiping away tears, he told the audience, “I almost cried at one point. This is insane.”
