The box office witnessed a major face-off this week with the release of two contrasting films Tiger Shroff’s high-octane action drama Baaghi 4 and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s political thriller The Bengal Files. Both films released on the same day, igniting comparisons and competition, but it’s Baaghi 4 that has taken the lead in terms of collections.
As per preliminary estimates carried by Sacnilk.com, Baaghi 4 collected ₹2.15 crore on Thursday (Day 7), after raking in ₹2.65 crore on Wednesday. The cumulative collection of the film is now ₹44.55 crore. To put it in perspective, The Bengal Files raked in ₹1 crore on both Wednesday and Thursday, taking its overall collection to ₹11.25 crore.
Mixed Response for The Bengal Files
While The Bengal Files tackles a politically charged subject, it has failed to replicate the success of Agnihotri’s previous hit The Kashmir Files. That 2022 release opened at ₹3.55 crore and went on to become a major box office sensation. In contrast, The Bengal Files opened at ₹1.75 crore and has seen a consistent dip in footfalls.
The movie features a robust star cast featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, and Simrat Kaur. Even though the performances are robust, reviews have been mixed with some appreciating the intention of the film and others criticizing it for its excessively aggressive narrative pattern.
Baaghi 4 Scores With Action and Star Power
Baaghi 4, helmed by A. Harsha, sees the return of Tiger Shroff as Ronny, a tormented man torn between trauma and revenge after having survived a deadly train crash. The emotional journey, coupled with awe-inspiring action, has resonated well with the franchise fans.
The movie also features ex-Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu making her Bollywood debut, joining Sonam Bajwa and Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the movie takes the franchise to a higher level with larger stunts and a dark, more intense plot.

The Verdict So Far
As the box office race continues, Baaghi 4 has clearly emerged as the stronger performer in its first week, while The Bengal Files struggles to maintain momentum. With the weekend ahead, it remains to be seen whether The Bengal Files can recover ground or if Baaghi 4 will continue its winning streak.
