Bella Hadid offered fans an intimate look into her recent hospital stay through a series of photos posted on Instagram on Wednesday, September 17. The 28-year-old model and activist was seen resting in a hospital bed, hooked up to IV bags and wearing an oxygen mask.
In her caption, Bella wrote, “I’m sorry I always go MIA. I love you guys,” addressing her occasional social media absences. The photo carousel included candid moments—eating pizza, holding a crochet angel, admiring sunsets and rainbows, and spending time with friends and family. One photo showed her sitting on the floor of an elevator, wet hair and coffee in hand.
Family and Friends Show Support
Bella’s post prompted an outpouring of love. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, commented, “Lyme warrior,” while sister Gigi Hadid wrote, “I love you! I hope [you] feel as strong and good as you deserve, soon!!!!!!” Actress Nikki Reed also shared supportive words: “Sending you love, light and positive thoughts for healing.”
Though Bella didn’t specify the cause of her hospital visit, Yolanda revealed more on Instagram. “Watching my Bella struggle in silence has cut the deepest core of hopelessness inside me,” she wrote, praising Bella’s courage in facing an incurable chronic disease.
Bella’s Battle With Lyme Disease
Bella was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, alongside her mother and brother, Anwar Hadid. In 2023, she shared that she was “finally healthy” after over 100 days of intensive treatment and nearly 15 years of suffering.

Lyme disease, a bacterial illness spread by ticks, can cause fever, fatigue, and joint pain. While treatable early, it can result in chronic symptoms if left untreated.
Yolanda’s message ended with strength: “We always get back up. You are a survivor… my badass warrior.”
