Interior designer and producer Gauri Khan treated fans to a sneak peek into her private life recently by sharing a set of unseen pictures featuring her mother, Savita Chhibber, actress Rani Mukerji, filmmaker Karan Johar, and close friends Nandita Mahtani, Nitasha Nanda, Bhavana Pandey, and Maheep Kapoor. Gauri posted the picture on Instagram and captioned it, “Making memories.” In the heartwarming reel, candid moments of laughter and bonding between the near-dear ones stole the show. Several fans took over to the comments and flooded it with heart emojis.
Another interesting revelation has come up now, in which filmmaker Farah Khan reveals a behind-the-scenes story related to Gauri’s important role in casting for the 2004 blockbuster Main Hoon Na. Farah, in a recent vlog with Amrita Rao, remembered that the actress Ayesha Takia was signed to play Sanjana, but she was forced to get out of it because of some scheduling conflicts due to Imtiaz Ali’s Socha Na Tha. With the Darjeeling shoot already fixed, Farah was on the lookout for a new heroine—until Gauri Khan stepped in.
“Gauri told me, ‘Why don’t you check with this girl who did a Bru ad?’ That girl was Amrita Rao,” Farah revealed. Though Farah was initially skeptical about Amrita being the right fit for the role, she had a change of heart post the audition when she said, “She reminded me of Sridevi.” The rest, as it were, is history as Amrita went on to play the unforgettable Sanjana.
