Sony LIV will premiere the series Jazz City on 19th March. The story is set in Calcutta in 1971, a period marked by political unrest and social change. The narrative unfolds around a jazz club, where music becomes part of a larger backdrop of tension, shifting identities, and emerging resistance.
The series explores themes of loyalty, personal conflict, and the consequences of remaining silent during turbulent times. As political developments intensify outside, relationships inside the club are tested by differing beliefs and choices.
The central character, Jimmy, initially tries to remain detached from the surrounding conflict. However, circumstances gradually pull him into situations where he must confront difficult decisions that carry serious implications.
Jazz City is created, written, and directed by Soumik Sen. It is produced by Studio 9 and StudioNext. The cast includes Arifin Shuvoo, Sauraseni Maitra, Shantanu Ghatak, Aniruddha Gupta, Sayandeep Sen, Shreya Bhattacharya, Shataf Figar, Alexandra Taylor, and Amit Saha.
The series will be available for streaming from 19th March.
