Thousands of football fans gathered to celebrate the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, but one of the most talked about moments came from the opening celebrations in Toronto, Canada. Actor and singer Nora Fatehi delivered a high energy performance that quickly gained attention online and became a popular topic on social media.
Nora took the stage alongside Vegedream and Sanjoy to perform their football anthem as part of the Canadian opening ceremony. The performance combined music, dance and large scale stage production, creating an energetic atmosphere for fans attending the event.
Shortly after the ceremony, videos of Nora’s performance began circulating across social media platforms. Many fans shared clips of her dance moves and stage presence, helping the performance reach audiences beyond the stadium. Dressed in an eye catching all red outfit featuring cutout details, Nora stood out on stage while performing in front of a large crowd. She completed the look with her signature flowing hairstyle.
The performance also featured hundreds of backup dancers, adding to the scale of the production. Together, they delivered a choreographed routine that energized the audience and became one of the standout moments of the celebration.
The Toronto event was one of several opening ceremonies held across North America as the FIFA World Cup 2026 officially got underway. The tournament began on June 11 with the opening match between South Africa and Mexico in Mexico City.
Mexico City’s opening ceremony featured performances from several internationally known artists. Singer Shakira and Burna Boy performed “Dai Dai,” the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Other artists who appeared during the celebrations included J Balvin, Belinda, Danny Ocean and several others.
Meanwhile, the Canadian ceremony also featured performances by well known artists including Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé and Elyanna.
Speaking to ABC News Live about performing in her hometown, Nora reflected on the importance of the moment. She said, “It’s definitely a homecoming for me. It’s a moment in my journey. I left Toronto years ago to pursue my career as an actor, singer, and performer in India. And I said to myself, when I officially come back to Toronto to do something, it has to be groundbreaking and on another level. Imagine now it’s the World Cup opening ceremony, and I couldn’t have asked for a bigger platform.”
For Nora, the performance marked an important personal and professional milestone, as she returned to the city where she grew up to take part in one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
