Bollywood box-office report of the week : 25 august 2011

The coming Friday will see a host of small or delayed releases, apart from the dubbed ventures. The list includes SHABRI, CHITKABREY – SHADES OF GREY, YEH DOORIYAN and STAND BY. From the bunched releases, it is just award winning director Sanjay Surkar's football based STAND BY that stands some chances at the box-office! However, that is not the end of the story as before the end of the week, Wednesday the 31st August to be precise; the cinemas will be taken over by Salman-Kareena's Eid blockbuster BODYGUARD. The opening will be huge if not earth shattering and the extended weekend will see a few opening records being broken.

All the releases of last week, RGV's NOT A LOVE STORY, Ajay Chandhok's CHATUR SINGH TWO STAR and the Pravin Dabas directed SAHI DHANDHE GALAT BANDE failed to achieve anything significant. Comparatively speaking NOT A LOVE STORY fared the best and may be saved due to its small budget. The other two releases have no chance of survival.

After facing a ban in three states (U.P., Punjab and Andhra Pradesh) on the first day AARAKSHAN got some relief on the second day as the ban was lifted in Punjab and Andhra. Despite the setback the film saw a good run as it collected 3.5 crore from Bombay (collections from 56 cinemas unreceived), 1.20 crore from Ahmedabad, 15.50 lakhs from Surat, 36 lakhs from Baroda, 21.55 lakhs from Rajkot, 6 lakhs from Jamnagar, 7.55 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 5 lakhs from Bhuj, 36 lakhs from Pune (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 15 lakhs from Nasik, 10 lakhs from Goa, 6.5 lakhs from Belgaum, 4 crore from Delhi city, 40 lakhs from Gurgaon, 13.30 lakhs from Faridabad, 11 lakhs from Panipat, 20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3.35 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2.30 lakhs from Amritsar, 2.55 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1 crore from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 9.25 lakhs from Siliguri, 5 lakhs from Guwahati, 35 lakhs from Nagpur, 18 lakhs from Jabalpur, 30 lakhs from Raipur, 50.55 lakhs from Indore (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 15.20 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived ), 40 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 85 lakhs from Jaipur, 6.50 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 5.65 lakhs from Bikaner, 20 lakhs from Kota, 8.25 lakhs from Udaipur, 35 lakhs from Hyderabad, 13.50 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 80 lakhs from Bangalore, 6.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.60 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 6 lakhs from Madras (collections from other cinemas unreceived) and 3 lakhs from Kochi.
