Almost a decade after his debut effort, Abhay is now making his debut as a producer and while ONE BY TWO is being pitched as a feel good musical romantic entertainer, he warns beforehand not to expect a typical Bollywood rom-com here.

Though the title ONE BY TWO coupled with the promo gives an impression of a rom-com here, Abhay details that there is a lot more to the film.
“Well, rom-com toh hai but thodi different tarah ki rom-com hai. In a way this will work for me since people want surprises from me. The film is a cross between SOCHA NA THA and ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA. Just ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA also had romance but it wasn’t a romantic film per se. Similarly SOCHA NA THA too had humour but it wasn’t necessarily a comedy,” he says.

It is apparent though that ONE BY TWO is inspired from the kind of treatment that films out there in West get.
“Haan, if you look at it in a Western perspective then toh ONE BY TWO is a rom-com. Hota kya hai naa that out there, they are much more subtle than us in the way they narrate rom-coms. We spoon feed audience a little more. We are a bit more melodramatic. However none of my films have ever had that kind of element. I don’t want people to be expecting a typical rom-com here. ONE BY TWO isn’t GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN,” he smiles.
