Meet Bollywood’s ‘busiest man’, Girish Wankhede!

He was referred to as Cinemax’s ‘secret weapon’ and also the busiest man in Bollywood by the US Film Trade Magazine, Box Office, in their August 2012 issue.

We are obviously referring to Girish Wankhede, DGM Cinemax India. With Cinemax deciding to get into distribution, no one better than the marketing head, Girish Wankhede, to give us an insight into why the leading cinema chain has taken this decision!

Giving the reasons, Girish tells us, “Cinemax has a pan India presence (41 locations). We feel independent cinema does not get much support here and we can provide it. Just in Maharashtra we have 40-45 screens. We want to promote and provide a wide release to Maratha cinema. In fact we want to promote regional cinema.”

Well, that will indeed be a praiseworthy initiative, and with Girish Wankhede as the driving force, we are sure it will see the light of the day.
