The third and latest instalment in the Jumanji franchise has begun with the makers sharing a picture of its main cast on Wednesday. The photo has stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black posed in their adventure-ready costumes. The photo has the caption: “Look who’s on the loose.” Hart shared this picture on his social media and added, “Back in action and loving it….I missed you Jumanji. This one will be our biggest!”
A day earlier, Johnson provided fans with a behind-the-scenes glimpse from Universal Studios in Los Angeles, relishing the chance to film in the city. “It feels so good to bring a production back home to Los Angeles,” he said. He also shared a sentimental detail about his character: a necklace holding the dice from the original 1995 Jumanji, starring Robin Williams. “This is the dice from the original Jumanji as a show of respect and a way to honor Robin and this entire franchise that he started,” Johnson shared.
The untitled sequel is a follow-up to 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, both of which had successfully rebooted the 1995 classic. Director Jake Kasdan returns to helm the project and co-writes the script with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. It will hit theatres on December 11, 2026.
The cast also includes Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Lamorne Morris, and Danny DeVito. Last week, Johnson posted footage of the table read for the film, writing, “Amazing to get the whole gang back together, and our jaws hurt from laughing so hard.”
The Jumanji series follows a group of teenagers who find the magical game of Jumanji and get transported into adult avatars inside a video game. They need to get through various hazardous challenges and finish the perilous quest to get out, which combines adventure, comedy, and heart in each of the films. With the return of the beloved cast and a nod to the franchise’s origins, the new film is sure to be a thrilling continuation of this iconic series.
