With ‘Noor’ Sona Mohapatra resumes her love affair with Punjabi folk

Sona Mohapatra, the quintessential diva, pop-rock star of India, resumes her love affair with Punjabi folk with her new track, Noor, taking the ‘Ambarsariya’ journey forward with its new poetry, passion, and beauty.

The spoken word and new Hindi lyrics by Munna Dhiman & Sona added in the verses provide a fresh, new perspective of a woman in charge of her destiny, truly in love with life itself.

“The song is a visual exploration of an ever-changing intimate dynamic of a man-woman relationship,” says Sona Mohapatra.

“In our song Noor, the younger man is smitten by this gorgeous yet powerful, alpha woman who is in charge of her life & choices. With Noor, you will take a journey of love, passion & self-discovery. I would also like to dedicate this song to Lata Mangeskar, the ‘woman on top’ for decades in India . Her ‘Noor’ or golden light will always guide & inspire us towards greater artistry.”

Sona further says, “I am elated to partner with Warner Music in this journey of music & storytelling. This is the beginning of a lot of great things to come with them, our aesthetics are in sync & I am so proud to join their galaxy of world class music stars.”

Noor is a contemporary, cutting-edge dance track with shades of tropical house and dance hall combined with timeless pop motifs, created by Ram Sampath. Ram has played a huge role in shaping the pop culture & indie music in India.

The NOOR music video, where the woman is on a solo trip with her alter-ego, Noor was conceptualised by Sona herself & directed by Anand Mishra. It is shot against the picturesque backdrop of Ladakh, a February Valentine romance intercut with a magical snowy landscape, where a solitary diva – SONA – sings in the valley of GOLD.
