New releases, FAST & FURIOUS 6 impresses!

As it usually happens before a big release (in this case Ranbir’s YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI), the new films of this week opened to a rather disappointing initial, and so it comes as no surprise. Interestingly it was a Hollywood venture which the audience preferred, more so due to the action genre, as also the absence of any major star in the latest Bollywood releases.

Coming to specifics, it was Preity Zinta‘s debut home venture production, ISHKQ IN PARIS, which managed the best opening of around 10-15 percent (at good multiplexes) with the Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla, Adah Sharma, Dev Goel starrer HUM HAI RAAHI CAR KE coming a close second with around 10 percent. There was a small pick up during the evening shows but nothing much to cheer about otherwise. The third release of the week, Veena Malik‘s ZINDAGI 50-50 was worse!

In fact it was (as our headlines suggest) FAST AND FURIOUS 6 (original and dubbed), which the audience lapped up, and the Hollywood action venture was the front runner by a good margin, with a 50-60 percent start.

Meanwhile last week’s major release, Yash Raj Fims’ Arjun Kapoor starrer, AURANGZEB, could not enthuse the audience like the star’s last film for the same banner, ISHAQZAADE, and could only manage an ordinary 18.50 crore (to be validated) during the opening week from India.
