Pavitra Rishta actor Karan Veer Mehra recently opened up about his bond with Sushant Singh Rajput, who is no more. In an interview with an entertainment portal, Karan shared that Sushant was always there for him in all his tough times and believed in his capabilities.
“I really miss him. I wish he were here to witness this since he has always stood up for me. When I was down, he picked me up and said, ‘You’re better than me.’ I was surprised and did not know how he could have said that—he was a star,” Karan recalled.
Greatly grieved by the loss of his friend, Karan called it heartbreak, adding that he still hadn’t found closure. “I do not know how to react because till date, there isn’t any closure. I curse myself for not being there. It would have just taken a moment to say ‘Kamini, mai aara hu.’ But it never happened,” he said.
Karan went on to add that he’ll mourn forever that he could not be with Sushant, who unconditionally stood by him. “I will take this to my grave since he was always there for me,” he said. Just the month before, Karan shared a throwback picture of Sushant on his birthday on Instagram with the emotional caption “I wish you were here to see this bhai.”
On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai. While authorities listed the case as a possible suicide, other allegations of foul play soon surfaced, as his family, most notably his sister, continued to fight for justice.
