Obsession Defies Expectations With Massive Second Week Growth In India

Obsession collected Rs. 4 crore on its second Friday, taking its India total to Rs. 25.85 crore and strengthening its box office run.

Hollywood horror film Obsession continues to perform strongly at the Indian box office. The movie entered its second week with impressive momentum and collected approximately Rs. 4 crore gross on its second Friday. This marks the film’s biggest single day collection so far, surpassing the numbers it recorded on its first Sunday.

The second Friday collection is around 2.5 times higher than the film’s opening day earnings, showing a significant increase in audience interest. Strong advance bookings and positive word of mouth have helped the movie maintain its momentum, and industry observers expect the film to record even higher collections over the weekend.

After 8 days in theatres, Obsession has earned approximately Rs. 25.85 crore gross in India, which is equivalent to around USD 2.70 million. The film has steadily grown since its release and is now emerging as one of the notable Hollywood performers in the Indian market this year.

Based on current trends, the movie is expected to collect between Rs. 18 crore and Rs. 20 crore during its second weekend. If these projections hold true, the second weekend earnings will be more than double the film’s opening weekend collections. By the end of Sunday, the total collection is expected to reach around Rs. 40 crore gross.

With its current pace, Obsession appears well positioned to cross the Rs. 50 crore mark in India. Trade estimates also suggest that the film has a realistic chance of reaching Rs. 60 crore and could potentially finish its run in the Rs. 70 crore to Rs. 80 crore range if it continues to attract audiences over the coming weeks.

The film’s success is particularly notable because it was produced on a modest budget of approximately USD 750K. Its performance demonstrates how strong audience engagement and positive reviews can help smaller films achieve significant box office results.

Obsession’s success also contributes to what is shaping up to be a strong year for Hollywood releases in India. Several international films, including Project Hail Mary and Michael, have performed well in the country. Meanwhile, some of the biggest Hollywood releases of 2026, including Avengers: Doomsday, The Odyssey and Spider Man: Brand New Day, are still awaiting release.
