Abhishek Bachchan has expressed his gratitude for being cast in Mani Ratnam’s film Yuva, which was released 20 years ago. In a recent interview, Abhishek recalled how he initially thought Mani Ratnam wanted to contact his father, Amitabh Bachchan, through him.

When Mani Ratnam approached him for the film, Abhishek was surprised to be offered the role of Lallan Singh. He said, “I thought he wanted to get in touch with Dad through me.” Abhishek praised Mani Ratnam for writing his character and credited the director for his effective performance.

The film was a breakthrough for Abhishek, and he won the Stardust Award for Actor of the Year – Male for his performance. Amitabh Bachchan also praised his son’s performance, calling it the “best” and sharing a throwback picture of them at an award ceremony.

The film’s co-stars, including Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, and Rani Mukerji, were also praised by Abhishek for their support and contribution to the film’s success. Esha Deol, who played a role in the film, recalled talking to Mani Ratnam in Tamil on the sets, which left her co-star Ajay Devgn wondering what they were discussing.

The film’s 20th anniversary has brought back nostalgic memories for the cast and crew, with Abhishek expressing his gratitude for being a part of the project.
