The film industry is experiencing a wave of release date shifts, with the latest significant development being the impending clash between Anees Bazmee’s much-anticipated Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer Singham Again on Diwali. This collision has raised concerns among trade analysts and industry insiders.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, featuring Kartik Aaryan, and Singham Again, starring a star-studded cast including Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff, promise to be major releases, making the clash particularly noteworthy. Speaking to Hindustan Times Anees Bazmee expressed his views on the situation:
“Clashes are never a good idea,” Bazmee noted, pointing out that the release date for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 had been set a year in advance. He acknowledged the inevitable negative impact on box office performance when films clash, stating, “All films get affected when there is a clash, nuksaan toh hota hai.” He emphasized that the confidence in the product isn’t the issue, as every director, actor, and writer speaks confidently about their film.
When asked about the possibility of shifting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s release date, Bazmee responded, “Aisa abhi nahi socha hai since we had decided the release in advance.” He acknowledged his friendship with Ajay Devgn and recognized that such date clashes are often unavoidable and beyond their control.
Reflecting on the broader trend of release date clashes, Bazmee shared his perspective as a veteran in the industry: “If the film is not good, then you can release it on any festival, it won’t work. A good film doesn’t need a date to work.” He cited the example of the film Animal, which succeeded without a festival release, underscoring his belief that the quality of the film ultimately determines its success.
