Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 has been the most hushed-about project in Bollywood, but its journey to the sets has not been smooth sailing. With Ranveer Singh as Don, the movie has experienced numerous delays, cast changes, and fan rage, especially from fans still holding onto Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s versions of Don.
Earlier, Kiara Advani was on board for the female lead, but has apparently walked out of it. Kriti Sanon is now out for the replacement. The antagonist role in the film has also undergone reshuffling. Vikrant Massey was in consideration earlier for the villain’s role but apparently backed out as he was unhappy about the character’s depth.
Now, South Indian actor Arjun Das, who made his presence felt through his intense performances in Master, Kaithi, and Good Bad Ugly, is in the running for the villain role. If that is confirmed, Don 3 will be his Bollywood debut. According to a source, “Arjun has expressed interest since the role has various arcs and is not just a typical villain.” His casting would bring in fresh intensity and thrill, primarily among the fans of South Indian cinema.
The production team is aiming to start shooting in January 2026. Ranveer Singh will purportedly go through extensive workshops to become the face of Don, adding his own brand of style while respecting the legacy of the character.
The movie will pack high-octane action, with foreign stunt teams, recognized for working on transnational franchises, recruited to conceptualize extensive action set pieces. The plan is to keep pace with the intensity of a James Bond film.
In spite of initial backlash about Ranveer’s casting, sources claim that he is still intense and determined to redefine the iconic role. With Farhan Akhtar in the director’s chair and a new ensemble cast, Don 3 promises to be one of Bollywood’s most ambitious and world-styled films to date.
