Rajkumar Hirani’s First Web Series Pritam And Pedro Gets Release Date

0

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is set to make his streaming debut with the upcoming series Pritam and Pedro. Known for films that combine humour, emotions and human stories, Hirani will now bring his storytelling style to the long format digital space for the first time.

The makers recently unveiled the first poster of the show, which has already created curiosity among viewers. The poster features an abandoned ATM placed on a beach with two men standing beside it. While the image gives very little information about the actual story, it hints at a quirky and unusual setting.

Pritam and Pedro is directed by filmmaker Avinash Arun. According to the makers, the series will explore an unpredictable world while keeping most details about the plot hidden for now. The show is scheduled to premiere on July 3.

Talking about the project, Rajkumar Hirani shared that he has always enjoyed stories where completely different people are forced to come together and deal with unexpected situations. Speaking about the series, he said, “ I’ve always enjoyed stories where very different people are forced to come together and navigate life in unexpected ways. Pritam and Pedro have a lot of humour, warmth and madness in that sense. The long format space gave us the opportunity to spend more time with the characters and really explore their journey. It’s been an exciting experience, and I’m happy to partner with JioHotstar for it.”

The series marks an important step for Hirani, who is known for successful films such as Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju. His move into the OTT space has attracted attention among audiences who have followed his work over the years.

At the same time, reports about another possible Rajkumar Hirani project have also been circulating. Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor had previously worked together on Sanju in 2018, which became a blockbuster at the box office. Since then, fans have been waiting for the duo to collaborate again.

According to recent reports, Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor are expected to reunite for a biopic based on an athlete. However, reports suggest that the project has been delayed and may now begin only in 2027. An official confirmation regarding the film is still awaited.

Raja Shivaji Set To Create History As First Marathi Film To Cross Rs. 100 Crore

Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji is continuing its strong performance at the box office even in its third week. The film collected an estimated Rs. 1.25 crore on its 3rd Monday. This was around a 20 per cent drop compared to its 3rd Friday collection, showing that the movie is still managing to attract audiences to theatres.

With the latest collection, the total box office gross of Raja Shivaji has reached Rs. 99.35 crore in India. The movie is now very close to entering the Rs. 100 crore gross club and is expected to achieve this milestone by the end of the day. This will be a major record for Marathi cinema because no Marathi film has crossed the three digit mark before.

The Riteish Deshmukh starrer has already become the highest grossing Marathi film by going past the collections of Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva. However, there is an important difference in the performance of these films. Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva earned most of their collections from Maharashtra, while Raja Shivaji has received a good share of business from outside the state as well.

Reports suggest that Raja Shivaji may still remain behind Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva in Maharashtra collections alone. Maharashtra is considered the core market for Marathi films, and expectations were very high for Raja Shivaji in the state. Films like Tanhaji and Chhaava had performed exceptionally well in Maharashtra, with Tanhaji adjusting to nearly Rs. 250 crore in today’s value and Chhaava crossing Rs. 300 crore. Raja Shivaji is not expected to touch Rs. 100 crore from Maharashtra alone.

The box office collections for Raja Shivaji in India are as follows:

Week 1 – Rs. 61.75 crore
Week 2 – Rs. 28.00 crore

3rd Friday – Rs. 1.60 crore
3rd Saturday – Rs. 3.00 crore
3rd Sunday – Rs. 3.75 crore
3rd Monday – Rs. 1.25 crore (est.)

Total – Rs. 99.35 crore

Suriya’s Karuppu Becomes His Biggest Box Office Success In Years

Suriya’s latest film Karuppu continued its strong performance at the Indian box office with an excellent hold on Monday. The movie collected around Rs. 16.25 crore on its first Monday, showing only a 15 per cent drop from its opening day collection. The film performed even better in Tamil Nadu, where it earned around Rs. 11 crore on Monday, which was only an 8 per cent drop from Day 1.

With this performance, the total four day collection of Karuppu in India has reached around Rs. 94 crore gross. Out of this, Tamil Nadu alone has contributed around Rs. 58 crore, making it the film’s strongest market so far.

The movie is now very close to achieving two major milestones for Suriya’s career. Karuppu is only Rs. 2 crore away from becoming the actor’s highest grossing film in India. It is also just Rs. 6 crore short of becoming Suriya’s first film to cross Rs. 100 crore gross in India. Both milestones are expected to be achieved today.

The Monday collection in Tamil Nadu is among the highest ever recorded for a working day. Most films that posted similar Monday numbers had the advantage of a public holiday, but Karuppu managed these collections on a regular weekday. Among non holiday Monday collections in Tamil Nadu, the film is behind only The Greatest of All Time and Vikram. Those films went on to earn more than Rs. 200 crore and Rs. 180 crore respectively in the state.

Trade trends suggest that Karuppu may finish with more than Rs. 150 crore in Tamil Nadu alone if it continues to hold well over the next few days. The film is also performing steadily outside Tamil Nadu. The Telugu version is holding decently despite mixed audience reactions in some areas. Karnataka and Kerala both contributed more than Rs. 1 crore on Monday.

Karuppu is also being seen as Suriya’s first major theatrical HIT since Singam II in 2013. Over the years, the actor delivered several films that either opened well but failed to sustain or gained appreciation later without a strong start. Some of his well received films were also released directly on digital platforms during the COVID period. With Karuppu, strong opening numbers and audience support have finally come together after many years.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Reaches Rs. 20 Crore In Just 4 Days

Ayushmann Khurrana’s romantic comedy drama Pati Patni Aur Woh Do continued its theatrical run with a stable performance on its first Monday. The film collected Rs. 3 crore on Day 4, which was around a 20 per cent drop compared to its opening day collection. The hold is being seen as decent for a film in this genre, especially during weekdays.

With the latest numbers, the total box office collection of the movie has reached Rs. 20 crore in 4 days. The film had shown growth over the weekend before slowing down slightly on Monday. Trade estimates suggest that the movie may finish its first week in the range of Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 28 crore, depending on how it performs during the remaining weekdays.

Even though the overall direction of the film’s box office journey has become clearer now, industry observers are still watching to see where the final lifetime collection lands. Based on the current trend, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is expected to end its theatrical run with around Rs. 40 crore to Rs. 50 crore nett collection. This is being considered a respectable total for a small to medium budget film in the current market.

The report also highlights how the post pandemic period has affected small town comedy films. Before the pandemic, especially during 2018 and 2019, several films from this genre performed strongly in theatres. Ayushmann Khurrana was one of the leading actors in this space, delivering multiple successful films that opened well at the box office. According to trade expectations, if Pati Patni Aur Woh Do had released before 2020, its opening numbers could have been much higher.

The day wise box office collections of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do are as follows:

Day 1 – Rs. 3.75 crore
Day 2 – Rs. 5.50 crore
Day 3 – Rs. 7.75 crore
Day 4 – Rs. 3.00 crore (est.)

Total – Rs. 20 crore

“My Bank Account Feels Like a Star” Pankaj Tripathi’s Honest Statement Wins Hearts

0

From doing tiny unnoticed roles in films and television shows to becoming one of the most respected actors in the country, Pankaj Tripathi has come a long way in his career. Today, he is known for powerful performances in projects like Gangs of Wasseypur, Mirzapur, Stree and Bareilly Ki Barfi. Even after achieving so much success, the actor says he still does not consider himself a “star,” although he jokingly admits that his bank balance may disagree.

In a recent interview, Times of India Pankaj spoke openly about what stardom means to him. According to the actor, brands usually approach people who are stars and not just talented actors. He said that from a market point of view, advertisements and endorsements are one way to measure stardom. But personally, he believes true stardom comes from the love, trust and connection an actor shares with the audience.

When asked if he feels like a star now, Pankaj gave a humble and honest reply. He said his bank account may feel that way, but he still does not. He explained that popularity alone is not enough because even negative publicity can make someone famous. For him, the real goal has always been to become memorable through good work. He said he never tried to become popular but always wanted people to remember his performances for a long time.

Pankaj began his acting journey with a small uncredited role in the film Run in 2004. For many years, he struggled in the industry and appeared in minor parts in movies like Omkara, where he often went unnoticed. His big breakthrough came with Gangs of Wasseypur, which brought him recognition and praise from both audiences and critics.

Since then, Pankaj has built a strong reputation for his natural and realistic acting style. Whether it was comedy films like Bareilly Ki Barfi and Stree, emotional dramas like Mimi, or serious web series such as Criminal Justice and Mirzapur, he impressed viewers with every role.

The actor has also won major awards during his career. He received a National Film Award Special Mention for Newton and later won both the National Film Award and Filmfare Award for his role in Mimi. Pankaj believes that achieving success later in life helped him remain humble and grounded.

The actor is now preparing for the release of Mirzapur The Film, which is directed by Gurmmeet Singh. The film features actors like Ali Fazal, Rasika Dugal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 4.

Raghava Lawrence Defends CM Joseph Vijay After Massive Controversy Over Minister Appointment

0

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay recently assigned portfolios to the nine ministers who took oath along with him on May 10. Among them, Egmore MLA Rajmohan was given important departments related to school education, Tamil development, information and publicity. He was also assigned responsibilities connected to archaeology, Tamil culture, film technology, the Cinematograph Act, government printing, stationery, and newsprint control.

However, the decision soon sparked discussion in the Tamil film industry. Actor Vishal openly questioned why Rajmohan was chosen to handle film related departments. Vishal said Rajmohan did not appear to have much experience or understanding of the current issues faced by the Tamil film industry. His comments quickly became a topic of debate among fans and industry members.

While some people agreed with Vishal’s concerns, many others defended Chief Minister Vijay and his decision. They felt that Vijay would have carefully thought about the appointment before making such an important decision. Actor and choreographer Raghava Lawrence was one of the strongest voices supporting the Chief Minister.

Taking to X, Raghava Lawrence requested everyone to remain patient and support the new minister. He wrote that Chief Minister Vijay would not have made the decision without proper thought and consideration. Lawrence also said that instead of reacting immediately, people should give Rajmohan some time to understand the role and work for the benefit of the film industry.

He further mentioned that he understands the concerns because the Tamil film industry is already facing several challenges. Still, he believed Rajmohan deserves a fair chance to prove himself as the minister in charge of film technology and the Cinematograph Act. Lawrence expressed hope that the minister would do his best for the welfare of the cinema fraternity.

This is not the first time Raghava Lawrence has publicly supported Vijay. Even before Vijay officially became Chief Minister, Lawrence had congratulated him and praised the people’s democratic decision. Sharing an old picture with Vijay on social media, he said the people’s mandate should always be respected and leaders must work together for the progress of the new government.

With this political victory, Vijay has now joined the list of famous actor turned political leaders like N. T. Rama Rao, M. G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa. His party created a major political shift in Tamil Nadu by defeating both Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, two parties that dominated the state’s politics for decades.

Anil and Sunita’s love story began long before Anil became a superstar in Bollywood. Sunita was a successful model when they first connected in the late 1970s. Over time, their friendship turned into love, and after dating for nearly ten years, the couple got married in 1984. In an earlier interview, Anil had shared that he never officially asked Sunita to be his girlfriend because they both simply understood their feelings for each other.

Princess Diana’s Brother Charles Spencer Marries Cat Jarman in Private Arizona Wedding

The 61-year-old historian and author tied the knot with archaeologist and podcast co-host Cat Jarman during a private ceremony in Arizona on May 15. Wedding photos online appear to place the intimate desert ceremony near Sedona’s famous Cathedral Rock. In a joint statement, the couple said they felt “incredibly lucky” that their relationship evolved from colleagues to close friends and eventually into “deep love and connection,” adding that laughter and a shared passion for life had always been at the center of their bond.

Jarman wore a pale blue sleeveless gown with waist cutouts for the ceremony, while Spencer kept things relaxed in a dark suit paired with an open-collar light blue shirt.

The couple originally met after Spencer reviewed Jarman’s 2021 Viking-history bestseller River Kings. Their connection later expanded into collaborative archaeological projects and co-hosting The Rabbit Hole Detectives podcast together.

Their romance first became public in October 2024 during Spencer’s highly publicized split from his third wife, Karen Spencer. The divorce was finalized in December 2025 after 13 years of marriage.

The relationship later became surrounded by controversy after Jarman filed a lawsuit alleging misuse of private information related to her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Court filings during the dispute also included accusations from Karen Spencer that her ex-husband had engaged in a “long-term” affair with Jarman during their marriage, allegations both Spencer and Jarman reportedly denied “categorically.”

This marks Spencer’s fourth marriage. He was previously married to Victoria Lockwood, Caroline Freud and Karen Spencer. He has seven children from his previous marriages, including daughter Charlotte Diana, whom he shares with Karen Spencer.

Jarman was also previously married and has two sons.

Over the past few years, Spencer and Jarman increasingly blended their personal and professional lives through public appearances, podcast collaborations and historical projects before finally confirming their relationship publicly.

Vijay Congratulates Suriya After Karuppu’s Strong Box Office Success

0

Suriya and Trisha Krishnan’s fantasy action drama Karuppu is continuing its successful run at the box office after releasing in theatres recently. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film also features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi and Supreeth Reddy in important roles.

As the movie continued to perform strongly in theatres, the team behind Karuppu received special wishes from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. The makers shared the update on X, formerly known as Twitter, and expressed happiness after producer S. R. Prabhu was congratulated for the film’s success.

The post shared by the makers read, “We are overjoyed to share that our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Joseph Vijay, has extended his heartfelt wishes and congratulations to our producer @prabhu_sr for the grand success of THE ONE @Suriya_offl‘s #Karuppu. It is truly wonderful and heartwarming for our entire team to receive his wishes.”

The recognition reportedly came during a meeting between Chief Minister Vijay and members of the Tamil Film Active Producers Association. Producer S. R. Prabhu attended the meeting along with several office bearers of the association, including president TG Thyagarajan, general secretary T Siva, treasurer G Dhananjayan, vice presidents SR Prabhu and SS Lalit Kumar, and joint secretaries Mukesh R Mehta and S Vinoth Kumar.

During the meeting, the association also contributed ₹10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund through a bank draft. Vijay reportedly congratulated S. R. Prabhu personally and wished the team success for the film’s theatrical run.

At the same time, the makers of Karuppu recently issued a clarification after controversy over a dialogue in the film allegedly linked to veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja. Some viewers felt that a satirical scene in the second half indirectly referred to the composer’s copyright related issues and considered it disrespectful.

In response, Dream Warrior Pictures released a statement expressing regret over the matter. A part of the statement said, “Dream Warrior Pictures wishes to express its sincere respect and admiration for Maestro Mr. Ilaiyaraaja and his extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema and music, which has inspired generations and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences across the world.”

Meanwhile, Karuppu has now crossed ₹80 crore in India within 4 days of release. According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹14.30 crore net on Monday, taking its total domestic collection to ₹82.30 crore.
