The investigation into the attack on Saif Ali Khan has taken an altogether new turn in which shocking details are coming forth. While Mumbai Police have detained one person for questioning, there have been reports suggesting a possible connection between this incident and a suspicious event near Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, earlier in the week. These claims have caused concern, especially after reports from India Today indicated that the person who attacked Saif might have also conducted a recce of Shah Rukh’s property before the attack.
According to police sources, on January 14, a suspicious individual was spotted near Mannat, placing a 6-8-foot iron ladder at the rear of the house. With the ladder and the criminal behavior of the suspect, the authorities found themselves suspecting a link between the two incidents. The CCTV footage taken at both Mannat and at Saif’s residence showed the same individual on each premises with a similar height and build. This fact raised further questions on whether they are the same person committing the two crimes.

The police also noted that the iron ladder used for the recce at Mannat appeared too heavy for one person to handle alone, leading them to believe that the individual could have had accomplices. The ladder’s origin is under investigation, as police are checking if it was stolen or linked to any other crimes.
However, in a subsequent update, the Mumbai Police officially denied any connection between the two incidents. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam clarified that the motive behind attacking Saif is burglary. He said that from the CCTV footages, the assailant enters Saif’s house through the fire escape staircase. The CCTV footage places him near Bandra railway station afterward. The police are focusing on the burglary angle while looking for further leads in the case while the investigation is still going on. The police are investigating the matter while keeping in view all the leads for ensuring the security of high-profile people in Mumbai, though the superstar has not filed any complaint on the suspicion that was prevailing near his house.
