Pulkit Samrat shares how Salman Khan stopped him from obsessing over box office

Pulkit Samrat recalls Salman Khan's inspiring advice before his debut and explains how it changed his mindset about success in Bollywood.

Pulkit Samrat has opened up about one of the most important moments of his Bollywood journey and revealed the advice from Salman Khan that completely changed the way he looked at success and failure. The actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Bittoo Boss in 2012, said he was extremely nervous before the release of his first film. Like every newcomer, he was worried about how the audience would react to his performance and whether the film would do well at the box office. It was during this stressful phase that Salman Khan shared a few simple but powerful words that stayed with him forever.

Speaking in an interview with Variety India, Pulkit recalled feeling anxious as the release date of his debut film came closer. He admitted that he kept thinking about whether people would like his work and if his career would take off. Seeing him under pressure, Salman Khan gave him advice that immediately changed his thinking. Salman told him that even he could not guarantee the success of his films every Friday. He reminded Pulkit that if one of the biggest stars in the country could not predict a film’s fate, there was no point worrying about things that were beyond anyone’s control.

Pulkit said those words helped him relax and understand an important lesson about the film industry. He realised that success and failure are never guaranteed in Bollywood. Instead of wasting energy on fear and stress, he decided to focus on giving his best in every project. According to him, that advice helped him become mentally stronger and taught him to enjoy the journey instead of constantly worrying about the results.

The actor also spoke about Salman Khan’s dedication towards his work. Pulkit said Salman lives and breathes films every single day. Even after getting very little sleep, he is always thinking about his projects, discussing new ideas, planning action scenes and finding the right people for different roles. Watching Salman’s passion and commitment inspired Pulkit to work even harder. He said that if he wants to achieve even half of what Salman has achieved, he believes he needs to put in five times more effort.

Pulkit’s personal life has also been in the spotlight over the years. He was earlier married to Shweta Rohira, who is Salman Khan’s rakhi sister, but the marriage ended after a year. In 2024, Pulkit married actress Kriti Kharbanda after the couple dated for five years.

On the work front, Pulkit was recently seen in the Netflix series Glory, which received a positive response from both critics and audiences. He will next appear in Suswagatam Khushaamadeed opposite Isabelle Kaif. Meanwhile, Salman Khan is preparing for his upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi and another big project with producer Dil Raju and actress Nayanthara, which is expected to release during Eid 2027.
