Power couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone stole the show all over again as they attended a family wedding in Goa. The good-looking couple became the life of the party as Bollywood socialite Orry gave fans an inside scoop through a fun video reel he shared on social media.

In the video, Orry is seen chatting with the bride as glimpses from the more colorful ceremony play. Ranveer and Deepika seem to be enjoying every bit of the celebration, embracing relatives and exuding their signature energy and charm. Power couple Ranveer and Deepika had been turning heads all evening in matching red outfits as they arrived. Ranveer was nothing short of royalty in his red and gold kurta, completed with a floral garland, while Deepika had looked stunning in a perfectly draped red saree with a sleek backless blouse.

One of the most memorable moments in the video was that of the couple sitting in the front row, cuddling each other, and having animated conversations as the wedding rituals were in full swing. If you’ve been anywhere near an Indian wedding, club, gym playlist, or even a moving autorickshaw in the last decade, you may have noticed a curious pattern: almost every Bollywood dance number suddenly has a Punjabi hook. It’s become such a norm that nobody even questions it anymore. It’s like cheese on pizza — sure, you could make it without, but why would you?

Many years ago at a college fest, I remember the DJ playing Nagada Nagada from Jab We Met. Nobody knew all the words — some of us didn’t even know the meaning — but when the hook hit, everyone jumped like they suddenly understood fluent Punjabi. That’s the thing: Punjabi phonetics come with built-in energy. Say “Mauja hi mauja” out loud. Your mouth automatically prepares to dance. Now try the Hindi equivalent: “Khushi hi khushi.” Sounds like a state bank slogan.

Punjabi lines punch through music in a way Hindi often just doesn’t. Bollywood composers figured this out, and once they did, there was no going back. And where does Bollywood test all its so-called “dance anthems”? Clubs and weddings. Both places run on Punjabi beats like it’s oxygen.

I once attended a Mumbai wedding where the groom’s side was Marathi and the bride’s side was Gujarati. But the moment London Thumakda began, everyone — literally everyone — instinctively knew what to do. That song doesn’t even need instructions. It is the instruction. Punjabi lyrics have simply become India’s emotional shorthand for “Let’s celebrate.”

And then came the Honey Singh era, a cultural turning point no matter which side of the musical fence you sit on. When Angrezi Beat and Brown Rang dropped, it felt like someone injected Punjabi pop directly into Bollywood’s bloodstream. Soon, films were borrowing entire hooks and retrofitting them into Hindi songs. Remember Dil Chori in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety? That movie practically whispered, “We’ll give you a plot later. First, here’s a Punjabi banger.” Producers started thinking in reverse: song first, story later — preferably with dhol.

Once the remix wave hit Bollywood, it found a ready-made treasure chest in Punjabi folk. Why compose new hooks when Punjabi folk already had so many brilliant, catchy ones lying around? Suddenly, a line from Punjab that’s been sung at weddings for decades was being polished, auto-tuned, and escorted into films like a VIP guest. Morni Banke in Badhaai Ho is the perfect example — people danced like it was composed that morning. In reality, that hook has been around since your uncle’s cassette collection.

The most interesting part? Punjabi has quietly become India’s unofficial party language without any campaign or effort. It didn’t arrive politically. It didn’t arrive through textbooks. It arrived through parties. A Tamil, Bengali, Maharashtrian, or Telugu teenager may not speak Punjabi, but they can scream “Suit suit karda” at 1 AM with total emotional clarity. Punjabi is Bollywood’s version of emojis — you don’t have to understand it to feel it.

Which brings us to today, where the recipe for a guaranteed Bollywood dance hit is comically predictable: Hindi verses, English attitude, Punjabi hook. The result is a track that somehow works in a Delhi baraat, a Goa club, a Jaipur sangeet, and a Bangalore brewery — all at once. The funny part? Many of these “Punjabi” hooks are written by teams in Mumbai offices who carefully select words that sound Punjabi enough for the masses.

Will Bollywood eventually move away from Punjabi hooks? Maybe. Trends evolve. Tamil rap could take over, Gujarati folk might have its comeback, or Hindi itself might wake up and demand its territory. But until then, don’t fight it. When the DJ drops that familiar Punjabi line, just raise your hands — because your body has already made its decision.

IFC Films is closing the year with one of its most anticipated fantasy romance releases. 100 Nights of Hero, arriving on December 5, 2025, brings together an incredible cast led by Emma Corrin, Nicholas Galitzine and Maika Monroe, alongside Charli XCX, Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones.

The film is adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel and is directed by Julia Jackman. Set in a magical, folklore-rich world, the story follows Cherry, played by Emma Corrin, whose husband leaves home after secretly placing a wager on her fidelity. In his absence, Cherry and her fiercely intelligent maid Hero find themselves forced to fend off the advances of Manfred, a dangerously charming visitor determined to test Cherry’s loyalty.

What begins as a temptation tale turns into a battle of wit and storytelling. Hero becomes the heart of the narrative, using her imagination, intelligence and patience to outsmart Manfred, night after night. Through layered stories within stories, the film promises themes of agency, power and companionship wrapped inside a lush, fantastical setting.

With Nicholas Galitzine bringing intensity to Manfred and Maika Monroe anchoring the emotional core as Hero, the cast lineup hints at a film designed to charm and provoke in equal measure. Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming family comedy Single Papa, giving audiences a first look at Gaurav Gehlot, a 30-year-old lovable man-child whose adulting skills are… questionable at best. Still relying on his mom for underwear and his father for timely pocket money, Gaurav shocks his boisterous Indian family by announcing he’s adopting a baby. The trailer promises a humorous and heartfelt journey as Gaurav tries to navigate diaper changes, unsolicited advice from everyone within a 10-kilometer radius, and convincing his parents that his adoption plan is serious.

Created and co-produced by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani, with Shashank Khaitan as executive producer, Single Papa is directed by Shashank Khaitan, Hitesh Kewalya, and Neeraj Udhwani. The series is produced under Juggernaut Productions by Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan.

Kunal Kemmu headlines the show as Gaurav, bringing to life a character who is funny, flawed, and fiercely loving. “Playing Gaurav has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” says Kemmu. “Audiences will see themselves and their families in this show. The warmth of every character is what makes this show so special and wholesome.”

The ensemble cast includes Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza, Prajakta Koli, Neha Dhupia, Suhail Nayyar, Dayanand Shetty, Aisha Ahmed, Dhruv Rathee, and Isha Talwar. Now, exclusive information reveals that the makers have prepared a major surprise for audiences staying back after the end credits.

According to a source close to the production, Dhurandhar will feature a four-minute post-credits scene, serving as an official teaser for Dhurandhar 2. This extended sequence is designed to build curiosity around the continuation of the story and may even disclose the sequel’s release date. The makers are reportedly evaluating different release-window options, but the post-credits reveal could finalize the plan for the second chapter.

The Ranveer Singh–led film has been granted an ‘A’ certificate, restricting viewing to audiences aged 18 and above.
