Dharmendra, 89 years old, a veteran Bollywood actor, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital amidst concern for his health in view of his 90th birthday on December 8. Reports about his health have been mixed. While some say that he has been hospitalized for four to five days, others clarify that his visit is merely for a routine medical check-up.

A family source close to him informed India Today, “Someone might have spotted him and created a news story out of it. He is absolutely fine and in great spirits. This visit is only for scheduled tests.” On their part, India TV reported that Dharmendra goes for tests regularly, given his age, and this is one such routine check-up. Sources say he is under observation and his family is keeping a close watch on the reports that come out, but he is healthy and cheerful.

Dharmendra underwent an eye graft surgery earlier this year. The actor was spotted leaving the hospital with a bandaged eye. And while addressing the media, he had reassured fans in Hindi, “I am strong. Abhi bhi Dharmendra mein bahut dum hai. Meri aankh ka graft ho gaya hai. Love you, my audience and fans.”

This marquee star, affectionately known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” never retired and is still active in films. He will next appear in Ikkis, a biographical war drama helmed by Sriram Raghavan for Maddock Films. Indian actress Yami Gautam has shared an exciting update regarding her upcoming courtroom drama Haq and says the film has been cleared without any cuts in the UAE. The film, inspired by the 1985 landmark Shah Bano case, will hit cinema screens on November 7, 2025. The film is already in high buzz among the audience.

The Article 370 actress expressed her delight in an interview with Times Now, as the film smoothly got clearance in the UAE. Normally, the censor board has been strict on films dealing with sensitive social or religious subjects. “This is the first time I’m sharing that in UAE, in terms of censorship, this has no cuts and it’s rated 15 plus. That means it’s watchable for everyone,” Yami shared. She further explained, “If there are no issues there, it means this film is not intended to antagonize anyone from faith.” Her statement depicts the makers’ idea of handling the subject with a sensitive attitude and respect.

Helmed by Suparn Varma, Haq boasts Yami Gautam in the lead role of Shazia Bano, a character loosely based on Shah Bano, along with Emraan Hashmi essaying the role of her husband and lawyer, Abbas Khan. The film also stars Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh in pivotal roles. It is produced by Junglee Pictures, in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Workrooms—a team famous for their content-driven and socially relevant films.

Haq is based on the real-life case of Shah Bano, whose husband divorced her in 1978. Her alimony case reached the Supreme Court, which in 1985 passed a historic judgment upholding the right of Muslim women to receive maintenance from their husbands under Indian law. This case is considered a landmark in both legal and social jurisprudence in India, often being cited during debates about women’s rights, religious freedom, and equality.

“The purpose of Haq is not to provoke or criticize any community; rather, it tries to highlight justice and real-life struggles faced by women in society,” said Yami Gautam. “The film tries to show empathy and truth,” she added, hoping “that people from each background will resonate with its message.”

Skyrocketing film budgets have become a talking point in the film industry these days, and high remunerations to lead actors are cited by filmmakers as one of the major reasons for this. There are often reports that actors’ remunerations alone eat up 60 to 70 percent of a movie’s budget, leaving hardly any scope for other costs. However, Ayushmann Khurrana thinks he belongs to a different league altogether when it comes to charging fees.

In a recent interview with Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel, the Dream Girl star shared that he has always prioritized creativity and collaboration over monetary gain. When asked how many times he has raised his pay since starting his career over thirteen years ago, Ayushmann admitted that he does not keep track of such matters. “It has increased, of course. My management would know more about that. I genuinely have no idea,” he said. “I am a Punjabi man and very artistic by nature. I am the purest from inside. My right brain works more, the left side of the brain doesn’t work much,” he added with a laugh.

The National Award-winning actor also reminisced about an interesting incident while working with Sriram Raghavan for the 2018 thriller Andhadhun. Ayushmann had offered to work for a token amount of Re 1 before the film was released. “I told Sriram sir to pay me just Re 1. I just wanted to work with him,” he said. Fortunately, Andhadhun became a huge critical and box-office success, performing very well in India and overseas, including China. The actor got his dues later with the profits of the film, hinting at a backend deal model.

Such arrangements—where stars take a reduced upfront fee against a share of a film’s profits—are common among Bollywood megastars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, who often serve as co-producers on films. Ayushmann said he shares a similar philosophy, emphasizing teamwork and financial balance.

“For me, Saraswati comes before Laxmi. I am a producer-friendly actor. I never go all out while asking for my rate. My first priority is for the film to work. If the film earns well, then one should be paid more. Everyone has to come together and take this decision,” he explained.
