Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has turned to the Delhi High Court for legal safeguard of her personality and publicity rights, alleging serious concern over the use of her name, image, and likeness without permission across the internet and commercial products.
The issue was heard by Justice Tejas Karia, who recognized the severity of the matter and suggested the court’s readiness to grant injunctions to prevent the abuse. The case will be heard again on January 15, 2026.
Misuse of Name, Image, and Bogus Endorsements
Representing the actor, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi explained that Rai’s identity was being used without consent on websites falsely claiming to be her official platforms. Additionally, her photos were being exploited for commercial products such as mugs, T-shirts, and drinkware.
The key issue raised was regarding a firm called Aishwarya Nation Wealth, which had illegally stated Rai as its Chairperson. Sethi deemed the statement fake and false, insisting that the actress had never been involved in the firm.
AI-Generated and Morphed Images Contribute to the Violation
Sethi also disclosed that morphed, obscene, and AI-generated images of the actress were being shared online, referring to it as a gross invasion of privacy and dignity. The abuse not only impacts her brand but also puts her through digital defamation and exploitation.
Advocate Mamta Rani, representing Google, said particular URLs need to be provided for any content removal requests.

Justice Karia noted the need for a broad yet effective legal remedy, possibly through a consolidated injunction or individual directions against each violator. The court advised Rai’s legal team to follow the Blocking and Screening Instructions (BSI) process for faster content removal.
Further directions will be issued at the next hearing.
