Universal Pictures Is Exploring Wicked Spin-Off Films

0

Universal Pictures is officially looking into expanding the Wicked universe with spin-off films, and honestly, it makes total sense. Wicked and Wicked for Good have become two of the biggest musical adaptations of this generation, breaking box office records, dominating conversations online and reintroducing the world of Oz to a new global audience.

Now the studio is exploring ideas to take the franchise further. This could mean new storylines set before Elphaba and Glinda’s era, deeper dives into side characters, or completely fresh adventures that expand the political and magical history of Oz.

With Wicked for Good earning massive numbers worldwide and introducing a wave of new fans to the universe, Universal clearly sees long-term potential here. Elphaba and Glinda’s story might be the heart of the franchise, but Oz is filled with characters and mysteries that were only briefly touched on in the films.

Fans are already wondering what these spin-offs could focus on. A standalone film about the Wizard’s rise to power? Something centered on the Wicked Witch of the East? Maybe a deeper look at Shiz University, Munchkinland or the origins of the Animals uprising. The world is huge, and there is plenty of room for expansion without touching the core story.

If these plans move forward, Wicked could very well become Universal’s next long-running fantasy franchise, similar to how Fantastic Beasts expanded the Harry Potter world or how Disney stretched Maleficent beyond Sleeping Beauty.

Nothing is greenlit yet, but the studio’s interest alone has fans buzzing. One thing is clear: audiences are not done with Oz, and Oz is definitely not done with us.

More updates once Universal makes things official.

Netflix’s crown jewel is ready to bloom again. Bridgerton Season 5 is officially preparing to roll cameras in March 2026, and the excitement around the next chapter of Shondaland’s global phenomenon is already building.

After four seasons of romance, scandal, heartbreak and social climbing across the Ton, the show is entering a new era. Each season has brought a fresh love story, richer world-building and bigger emotional stakes, and Season 5 is expected to continue that pattern.

While Netflix has not yet announced whose love story will headline this season, fans have already begun speculating. With Francesca’s arc unfolding, Benedict’s journey still open, and the younger Bridgertons slowly stepping into the spotlight, there are plenty of directions Season 5 could take.

What we do know is that the Bridgerton universe has only been expanding. Queen Charlotte became a global hit, Season 3 was among the most-watched releases of 2024, and Season 4 is expected to continue the streak. With production starting in March 2026, viewers can expect the signature mix of grand ballrooms, orchestral pop covers, slow burn romances, witty dialogue and impeccable costumes.

Behind the scenes, Shondaland continues to build the world with new writers, directors and evolving character arcs. The series has also grown visually and emotionally darker over time, exploring more mature themes without losing the escapist charm that made it a global comfort show.

Eternity Movie Review | Missed Marks Full Of Love

0

Eternity arrives as A24’s latest romantic fantasy and leans fully into its offbeat charm. The concept of purgatory is presented in a fresh, oddly comforting way that keeps your attention locked early on. It plays with the familiar will they, won’t they structure but finds its real strength in performance and character emotion rather than pure story mechanics.

At the centre is Joan, caught between the warmth of her 65 year marriage to Larry and the sudden reappearance of her first love, Luke, who has waited decades for her in the afterlife. While the setup promises emotional complexity, the dynamic never truly lands when it comes to Luke. His presence feels shallow and more decorative than meaningful, making it hard to believe he was ever a serious emotional contender. In contrast, Larry feels raw, human, lovingly flawed and painfully sincere. Miles Teller gives him a heart that anchors the entire film, while Elizabeth Olsen brings a quiet vulnerability that makes Joan both frustrating and sympathetic.

Where the film truly shines is its supporting cast. Anna and Ryan bring humour and soul to the narrative, elevating the world around the central trio and giving the afterlife setting real personality. Their presence feels essential rather than filler, even when the story starts to stretch.

Technically and visually, the world building is engaging and imaginative, but the film overstays its welcome. For characters who have lived long full lives, the emotional immaturity and indecision feel oddly forced. The last stretch loses its grip, becoming predictable and drawn out, making the final act feel more exhausting than impactful.

At its heart, Eternity wants to explore love, time and emotional growth, but it struggles to fully commit to its own philosophy. The message lands unevenly, and while the start makes you care, the momentum weakens as it reaches its conclusion.

It remains an entertaining one time watch, driven largely by its performances and its attempt to humanise the concept of life after death. Sweet, sometimes frustrating, occasionally touching, but never quite profound.

Final Verdict
A charming idea with strong performances that loses clarity and emotional focus along the way. Worth one watch for the actors and concept, but it never fully realises the depth it aims for.

Movie: Eternity
Director: David Freyne
Cast: Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, Callum Turner, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, John Early
Theatrical Release: November 26, 2025
Runtime: 114 minutes

Zootopia 2 Review: A Colourful, Clever Sequel That Truly Delivers

0

Movie: Zootopia 2
Director: Jared Bush, Byron Howard
(Voice) Cast: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Ke Huy Quan, Andy Samberg, Fortune Feimster, Quinta Brunson, Idris Elba, Shakira, Patrick Warburton
Theatrical Release: November 2025
Run Time: 1hr 47mins

Whenever you are unsure how to entertain the people around you, Zootopia 2 is the perfect choice. It is a heartwarming, cute and beautifully animated film that never fails to make you laugh at its jokes, while still being sincere enough to take itself seriously when needed. It gently tackles social norms, educates kids, and delivers some of the best pop culture references, all supported by a wonderful background score and breathtaking visuals that keep you wanting to watch more. Yes, there are a few familiar beats from the first movie that feel slightly unnecessary, but this one grabs your attention from the very beginning. Even though it is a children’s film, it is enjoyable for all kinds of audiences because it truly has something for everyone. If you want something fun, meaningful and visually delightful, this is an easy recommendation.

Zootopia 2 picks up right where the first film left off, reuniting us with the chaotic charm of Judy Hopps and the effortlessly cool Nick Wilde. This time, the stakes rise as the city’s long-standing peace is shaken by the sudden appearance of a snake, a species banished a century ago. The arrival of Gary De’Snake and the introduction of the powerful Lynxley family push the story into a mystery that feels urgent, playful and packed with momentum.

At its heart, the film continues to follow Judy and Nick, even as new characters enter the mix. Their partnership shows visible growth and emotional maturity, though their dynamic occasionally leans into familiar conflict. Despite this, the narrative keeps its grip through sharp humour, constant movement and moments that balance warmth with genuine tension.

The film thrives on its comedy and references, pulling from pop culture and animal-specific humour that lands across all age groups. The world-building feels rich and alive, with the predator and prey divide evolving into a new mammals versus reptile theme that feels natural within the universe. Emotional beats are handled with care and never feel forced, grounding the spectacle in sincerity.

There are moments where repetition in Judy and Nick’s relationship feels slightly stretched, especially given their past achievements. Still, these conflicts are resolved in a mature way that reinforces the film’s message around communication and understanding.

Technically and tonally, Zootopia 2 maintains a smooth pace that never drags. Voice performances stand out, particularly Patrick Warburton, whose presence brings consistent humour, while the core cast keeps the story engaging and natural throughout.

What remains is a joyful, high-energy ride that never forgets its purpose. To entertain, to uplift and to make its audience laugh without forgetting emotional resonance. Zootopia 2 delivers on that promise with ease.

Zootopia 2 is a colourful, heartfelt and thoroughly entertaining experience. A film that proves once again that a so-called kids’ movie can still speak to everyone.

Tere Ishk Mein Movie Review | Intense Romantic Drama

0

Aanand L. Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein operates firmly within the emotional landscape he has cultivated over the years—stories of overwhelming love, fragile minds, and the chaos that follows when human impulse refuses to stay contained. From Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa to Atrangi Re, Rai has repeatedly returned to lovers who are both shaped and shattered by their feelings. His long-standing creative pairing with Dhanush has been central to this space, and their latest collaboration extends that exploration into even darker, more conflicted corners of the heart.

At its core, Tere Ishk Mein is a story of pure, seething, unforgiving love—a musical narrative probing the deepest recesses of the human psyche. Flight Lieutenant Shankar Gurrukkal (Dhanush) and Dr. Mukti Behniwal (Kriti Sanon) have lived through a decade-long emotional upheaval that has defined, wounded, and transformed them. Their present-day confrontation unfolds in a war-stricken Air Force station, where they stand across from each other in a narrow corridor—each holding, literally and symbolically, the key to the other’s survival. The film poses a simple but piercing question: when love makes its final demand, does it destroy, or finally set its believers free?

Dhanush slips into Rai’s world with familiar ease. Rai has always favoured protagonists who are emotionally bruised, unpredictable, and rarely conventionally heroic; Shankar fits neatly into that lineage. Though an accomplished Air Force officer, he appears like an emotional underdog—carrying layers of regret, longing and unprocessed pain. Dhanush’s performance is a blend of contained intensity and sudden emotional eruption. At several points, particularly in high-voltage exchanges, there are faint echoes of Rajinikanth in his timing, pauses and sharp dialogue beats, not as imitation but as inherited rhythm.

For Kriti Sanon, this is her first foray into an Aanand L. Rai narrative, and she adapts impressively to his heightened emotional gaze. Her expressions carry the weight of Mukti’s choices—her anger, disillusionment, tenderness and guilt appear in controlled, affecting strokes. She meets Dhanush’s rawness with a quieter but firm emotional presence, giving their fractured relationship a layered, lived-in quality. Their chemistry is tense, wounded and believable.

Rai also peppers Tere Ishk Mein with moments that connect to his love for cultural and spiritual symbolism. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, in a short but memorable appearance as a pandit on the ghats of Banaras, underscores the significance of the names “Shankar” and “Mukti” in a sequence that gently ties the film’s emotional and metaphysical threads together. Prakash Raj, even with limited screen time, brings warmth and centred wisdom, making each of his scenes feel grounded and sincere.

Tere Ishk Mein moves between the turbulence of the central relationship and the tension of the wartime setting. The Air Force backdrop does not overwhelm the love story; instead, it amplifies its urgency. The war sequences are handled with restraint, keeping the focus on character rather than spectacle. For Shankar, the climactic moments become less about a military operation and more about confronting the emotional wreckage he has carried for years.

In the end, Tere Ishk Mein delivers exactly what an Aanand L. Rai drama promises: heightened feelings, musical storytelling and an unflinching look at the messiness of human relationships. It may not reinvent the genre, but it stays committed to its emotional truth. Anchored by strong performances from Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, and enriched by small but meaningful supporting turns, the film emerges as a solid, serious, no-nonsense romantic drama—an absorbing watch for anyone drawn to love stories that burn deep and leave scars.
