Mahavatar Narsimha’s Big Win: Now Eligible For Oscars 2026 Best Animated Feature

0

Director Ashwin Kumar’s animated mythological epic Mahavatar Narsimha has emerged as one of the most significant achievements in Indian animation, not only dominating the box office but also carving out a prestigious space on the global stage. After its remarkable theatrical run—where it amassed over ₹300 crore worldwide—the film has now crossed another historic milestone: it has officially qualified for the Best Animated Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently released its list of films eligible for consideration in the animated feature category, featuring 35 titles from around the world. Among internationally acclaimed contenders such as Zootopia 2, Elio, Arco, In Your Dreams, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle, and Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, India’s Mahavatar Narsimha stands tall as a milestone entry. Its inclusion itself is a testament to the growing artistic and technical prowess of India’s animation industry.

According to the Academy’s official statement, all listed films must meet qualifying theatrical release requirements and comply with established rules to advance in the voting process. Members of the Animation Branch vote to determine the five official nominees, and select Academy members outside the branch may opt in, provided they fulfill minimum viewing criteria. Notably, films entered in this category may also be eligible for other categories, including Best Picture, and animated features submitted as their nation’s official entry for International Feature Film may compete here as well.

Mahavatar Narsimha draws upon one of the most powerful narratives from Hindu mythology—the story of Prahlad and the divine emergence of Mahavatar Narsimha, the half-man, half-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Blending spiritual depth with cutting-edge animation, the film showcases a visually rich retelling that has resonated with audiences across demographics. Its success also signifies a breakthrough moment for Indian mythological storytelling on a global cinematic platform.

Produced by Kleem Productions in collaboration with Hombale Films, the movie is more than an isolated triumph. It represents the foundation of an ambitious cinematic universe based on the ten avatars (Dashavatara) of Lord Vishnu, promising a series of interconnected mythological sagas in the years ahead.

The Wait is Over! Drishyam 3’s Distribution Rights Sold, Simultaneous Release on the Cards!

Mohanlal’s highly awaited Drishyam 3 is currently in production and is reportedly nearing completion. With filming expected to wrap up soon, a major update has stirred fresh speculation among fans. Panorama Studios, the company behind the Hindi adaptations of the franchise, has officially announced that it has acquired several key rights to the Malayalam sequel.

According to an official note circulating online, Panorama Studios has purchased the exclusive worldwide theatrical rights—both domestic and overseas—along with the digital and airborne rights from Aashirvad Cinemas. While this development marks a significant step forward for the film’s release plans, it has also triggered discussions among fans about whether the Malayalam version may now be aligned with its upcoming remakes.

Earlier reports suggested that all versions of Drishyam 3—Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu—would release simultaneously. However, neither the Hindi nor Telugu adaptations have entered production yet, whereas Mohanlal’s film is close to the finish line. This contrast has led many to wonder if the Malayalam version will be held back to match the remake timelines.

On the other hand, industry buzz indicates the opposite—that the Malayalam edition may release first, with the remakes following later. As of now, the makers have not issued any official clarification.

Drishyam 3 continues the story of Georgekutty, one of Indian cinema’s most iconic characters. The first film, released in 2013, introduced the seemingly ordinary cable TV operator whose life spirals into chaos after Varun Prabhakar, the son of IG Geetha Prabhakar, goes missing. The sequel, released in 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, delved deeper into Georgekutty’s relentless attempts to protect his family from the resurfacing case.

Puliye
Puliye re pole
Pue pondulaya
Hai Chandrama
Neela mila
Milkar hi
Parishrami fasal kaati
Chamkeela
Dhoop utaara

Hathon mein ras bhari
Hai Aamla yahin
Humein to tantro ne Jeena sikhaya
Jo apni pyaas badhi
Banaya dharti seedhi
Lagan se Aakashon ko jhukaya
Aankho mein jo tezi bhare tu
Maati se bhi oorja milegi
Chaal mein hi
Khushi chhupi hai
Jangal dulhan sikhli hai
Puliye
Puliye re pole
Pue pondulaya
Hai Chandrama
Neela mila
Milkar hi
Parishrami fasal kaati
Chamkeela
Dhoop utaara

Ha phal milega
Hal utaa le
Aa krushi vaale
Geeth thu gaa le
Ha phal milega
Hal utaa le
Aa krushi vaale
Geeth thu gaa le
Len dhen ka
Niyam teek hai
Shakthi svamay me
Bharnaa seekh le
Paththyaron ki bheed pe thu chal
Kaaton ko thu chirke nikal
Jeevith he tho oorja na ee le
Rastha banaa naa kisi se dar
Puliye
Puliye re pole
Pue pondulaya
Hai Chandrama
Neela mila
Milkar hi

Smriti Mandhana’s fiance Palash Muchhal hospitalised due to stress

0

Days after music composer Palash Muchhal was hospitalised following the abrupt postponement of his wedding with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, new details have emerged regarding his health scare. According to medical professionals attending to him, Palash was rushed to the hospital after experiencing intense chest discomfort, brought on primarily by stress and emotional distress rather than a serious cardiac event.

As per a Mid-day report, Palash first sought treatment at a hospital in Sangli, where he was given initial medical assistance. However, when his condition failed to improve, he was transferred to a Mumbai hospital late on Monday for further evaluation. Dr. Dipendra Tripathi, one of the doctors treating him, stated, “Palash’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event.”

Upon admission to SRV Hospital in Mumbai, Palash reportedly complained of severe chest pain, uneasiness, and difficulty breathing. Doctors immediately conducted key cardiac assessments, including an ECG and a 2D echocardiography. Though test results showed slightly elevated levels in certain parameters, physicians found no signs of a major cardiac emergency. As part of his stabilisation process, oxygen therapy was initiated, following which he was moved to a general room for observation.

Doctors now believe that the episode was largely triggered by acute stress compounded by anxiety related to recent events. With rest and supportive care, Palash’s condition has improved significantly, and hospital authorities have confirmed that he is stable and recovering well. He is expected to be discharged soon, but doctors have advised him to take complete rest for at least three weeks to ensure a full recovery and avoid recurrence of symptoms.

The update on Palash’s health comes shortly after news that Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was discharged from Sarvhit Hospital on November 25. He had fallen ill on the day of the planned wedding—November 23—after experiencing heart attack–like symptoms, prompting immediate hospitalisation. Out of concern for him, Palash decided that the wedding rituals should not proceed until Shrinivas recovered.

A day later, Palash himself was admitted due to stress. His mother told Hindustan Times that Palash is extremely close to Shrinivas, and the situation deeply affected him. Meanwhile, Smriti has removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram, sparking curiosity among fans. The couple, who began dating in 2019, publicly confirmed their relationship only in July 2024 after sharing a fifth-anniversary post.

Mastiii 4 box office: A surprising run for the adult comedy

0

Mastiii 4, the fourth installment of the long-running Masti franchise that began in 2004, arrived with the advantage of brand recognition and an audience familiar with adult comedy. Given that the genre is not frequently explored in India, the film was expected to perform notably well, especially in mass-market centres where such humour tends to find a wider audience.

However, despite some viewers appreciating its entertainment value, Masti 4 struggled to garner positive reviews overall. Even from a pure fun-and-frolic perspective—where the series has typically thrived—the film failed to generate the expected buzz.

The film’s box office journey has been underwhelming since day one. Mastiii opened to a modest Rs 2.75 crore on Friday, and the number remained unchanged on Saturday, reflecting stagnant footfall. Sunday brought only a slight improvement, with earnings rising to Rs 3 crore, an uptick far lower than what a franchise film typically commands on a weekend.

The start of the week worsened matters: Monday saw a steep fall to Rs 1.50 crore, and though Tuesday registered a marginal rise to Rs 1.6 crore, the momentum was too weak to make any significant difference. By Wednesday (Day 6), collections slipped further to Rs 1.15 crore, taking the film’s total to Rs 12.85 crore.

Compounding its challenges was the simultaneous release of Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur. Even though the latter caters more to urban multiplex audiences and is considered a niche film, it managed to outperform Mastiii 4, collecting Rs 14 crore net within the same six-day period.

Adding to the competition, ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, despite being in its second week, is still pulling in daily numbers comparable to Mastiii, further highlighting the franchise film’s lacklustre performance.

The upcoming Friday is likely to intensify the struggle for screen space and audience attention. ‘Tere Ishq Mein’, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, is set for release and is expected to open well, given its strong star power and anticipated appeal in both mass and multiplex circuits. Its arrival could further shrink the already limited prospects of Mastiii 4, 120 Bahadur, and De De Pyaar De 2.

In summary, Mastiii has undeniably underperformed when compared not only to its predecessors—Masti, Grand Masti, and Great Grand Masti—but also to its current competitors. Unless the film witnesses an unexpected mid-week or second-week surge, its box office prospects appear firmly below average.

Dhanush’s Tere Ishk Mein Continues to Impress with Strong Advance Booking on Day 2

0

Aanand L Rai returns to his signature emotional storytelling with Tere Ishk Mein, featuring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, and early signs indicate that the audience is more than ready for this reunion. The film, slated for release on Friday, has already created a significant buzz, with its Day 1 advance booking collections crossing the ₹5-crore mark—an encouraging signal of strong momentum ahead of release. The film also marks Dhanush’s much-awaited return to Rai’s intense romantic universe after Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re, raising expectations for one of Bollywood’s biggest openings this month.

The advance booking trajectory has been consistently upward. By Thursday morning, total advance sales stood at ₹5.28 crore, including block bookings. Organic ticket sales have seen a remarkable jump: from ₹1.12 crore on Wednesday morning to ₹2.48 crore within 24 hours—an impressive increase of more than 100%. Over 1,05,000 tickets have already been sold, reflecting solid audience interest. Block bookings alone account for ₹2.80 crore, further strengthening the film’s pre-release standing. This consistent rise points to heightened enthusiasm surrounding the collaboration between Rai, Dhanush, and composer A. R. Rahman.

Tere Ishk Mein is being released in both Hindi and Tamil, with the Tamil version catering specifically to Dhanush’s loyal fan base. However, the Hindi version remains the key revenue driver, contributing ₹2.34 crore from 95,282 tickets across 9,850 shows through organic sales. The Tamil version, though smaller in scale, has performed respectably as well, generating ₹13.35 lakh from 10,694 tickets across 420 shows. This dual-language release strategy ensures that the film taps into both the pan-Indian appeal of Dhanush and the emotional resonance that Rai’s films typically command.

With its strong advance sales, Tere Ishk Mein is well-positioned to deliver an opening in the ₹10–12 crore range on its first day. If walk-in audiences over the weekend reflect the same energy as the advance bookings, the film could surpass early trade projections. Given its emotional storytelling pedigree, star power, and promising pre-release numbers, Tere Ishk Mein appears poised to emerge as one of the most successful romantic dramas of the year, reaffirming Aanand L Rai’s hold over the genre.
